  1. Good point, but i see plenty of Teslas in Sheffield and our traffic is pants. I did sit in one and while i liked it the quality is defo not as high.
  2. Exactly, often to be part of the future, money is extracted from you. Not that I think they are misguided. At some point, someone paid 60K fo a LS?
  3. So twice this year I've stopped at Hopwood Park services on the way down to Sennen in Cornwall. As far as go services go it's not to bad as it's quite an open and family friendly affair. I can remember at one point the child parking area was next to to the playground. This is now been moved to opposite the playground area, but where it use to be is now given over to at least four Tesla charging stations, which are often full. So I see cars that cost about 80K and emit little poisonous gases and do high MPG. So my LS cost 8K and no doubt many other LS 400/430 owners paid a lot less and some a little more? I like to think that few of us if funds allowed would contemplate a Tesla S as I see LS owners struck by cars that are different to the mainstream. However....... they cost as mentioned 80K new and the cheapest second about 42K. Anyway so there I am parking up, proud of my ultra reliable 11 year old car that does 23 MPG combined, then I see the Tesla and feel, perhaps, well a little foolish. Don't get me wrong, I love my LS and I've never felt as proud of a motor as this LS I now own. For the money I don't think it can be beaten in the miles for smiles (and cost) competition. It did make me feel a bit like a Luddite though as I parked opposite a young and very stylish family, in the very zeitgeist Tesla. As said above, I love my LS, wanted one for years. What do other LS owners think about auto electrification?

  5. There will be no reply's on this one. It seems it's not the done thing!!! As i found out, I'd love to put all manner of things on my roof but no such luck. How about tow bar and trailer?
  6. Well that is a very eclectic mix. Hey i wouldn't mind a copy! Tape to tape? I have a Linn Basic I bought in 99 still working and recently serviced. I now have it playing through a Ruark R7. Know it? A nod back to the hi-fi systems gone by. Hang on, C90 TDK, ace.
  7. Well it seems we have a lot of analogue lovers on here! The LS 400, is it kind of an analogue car in a now digital automotive world. (I think the 430 is as well, but others may disagree) I can't be arsed with SD cards and it might be said that the cd player is unreliable in the LS, but mine is older than any in my home and works fine. Pete, lets get those tapes out and discover a forgotten country of music!!! Swing Out Sister ....... maybe not
  8. Wow, well that's a great mix. As I've approached my late 40's the 70's have appeared on my radar more. I'm enjoying the quality of the stereo and it is the best I've had in a car. On the cd this weekend I had the "Best of the Carpenters". Man she had an incredibly refined voice and it sounds beautiful on the stereo, it really does it justice. However I also played The Stooges, Down on the Street and that seemed to lose some of it's power. Is it true the stereo is perceived as better in the 400 than the 430?
  9. As a lover of analogue and digital, I'm pleased to hear that even cassette's are making a small comeback. So what are you 400/430 owner's playing on your decks? Today I've been listening to: Happy Mondays / Pills, Thrills and Bellyaches Depeche Mode / Black Celebration Another all be it small reason why I chose the 430 over a 460 (honest) Nick
  10. mmmm despite not having owned a 460 I would think I'd feel the same. Hence why I bought the 430.
  11. Yes indeed your car looks brill. I too find the wheels scary but only because I'm probably not the best at parking and I'd soon be bashing them against pavements. Does the inside look as great?
  12. A pint or four in the Old Success eh? When I was down a few weeks ago,the beach would be packed but hardly a soul in the pub at 4.30pm. Managed to get the widow seat in the corner for an early dinner. Powering out the Cove is particularly enjoyable! Like Malc in Scotland I didn't see another LS on the drive down from Sheffield, two weeks and in Cornwall and back again. Have a great time.
  13. There you go, the car down at Sennen beach. I had it for over 4 years and it never let me down once. Second best car I've ever owned, however I sadly sold ita few weeks ago. It was a toss up between that and my MX5. I kept the MX as it's far easier to look after and I think the Avi has for the time being had it's day. Nothing of course beats my LS!
  14. Sounds amazing Malc, did you also go over the pass to Apple Cross? I did once but covered in mist! I'm a huge Wickerman fan and Plockton is in the first 15 minutes or so of the film. I look forward to going to the west coat soon.
  15. That's Fab Malc. My dad was from Montrose and I love Scotland. How far North did you get and did you manage to see Plockton?
  16. I picked it up April 17th this year. I have done 5000 trouble free miles since then (as expected). That price puts you in a LS460 but I think I was better off with a really good 430. I'm only averaging about 24MPG, but I see the car as a whole and what it offers for the cost. Great ride, superb stereo, so comfortable and the build quality is very high. My Avantime only averages 30MPG and that's just a 2LT.
  17. I paid just over 8K for my 06 LS with 87,000 miles. It was a one owner with full Lexus history. Immaculate condition. It's the first second hand car I have ever bought where every thing worked as it should. So if the LS with 33K is as good then I'd say its worth it. Lovely colour as well.
  18. Thanks for posting. It looks fab!! Mind you even more now to go wrong in future years.
  19. No definitely not, but no you wouldn't want to ride a BMX from that era, some are now very collectable and it's a nice hobby. John if your reading, be warned though it's addictive and can help you spend your cash. If you haven't already check out the RADBMX site. However I'm 48 and still ride them, all be it the 24". It's a lot of fun, keeps you fit and my kids love it. (or so they tell me) Sold the Avi by the way.
  20. Are you? (off topic I know) I've just started my first. An Ammaco Mongoose wire wheel from 82. ACS Z Rims and all original bar the seat, so I bought a used Kashimax seat. It's great fun. I also have an SE Cruiser, Yess race bike and I've a Hutch 26 XL on order. It's great fun and have you bought the RAD BMX book, it's ace. BMX is very addictive!!!!!!!!!
