  1. Well i'm your side of london............a lap of the M25 though......hmmm.........you forgotten how expensive petrol is??? TBH i normally would cut thorugh london to go up that way
  2. Well i might have to make my 1st meet this one. Sounds like an awesome day out.
  3. Yeah hes got a group buys page on www.groundingkits.co.uk but all it says is email him and ask about it. p.s: vote gord for what? Am i being really dim?
  4. Well my one is taking quite a while to turn up. I emailed him last night asking if he had posted it, and he said he was behind on orders but mine would be in the post today. I'll write up a review when fitted. Might even remember to take photos............
  5. Engine size would be the only way to do it for pre- march 2001 cars with a heavily graduated system. However even Ken Livingstone has admitted the lowest he can go on the £25 per day is 3 litres, so a 2 litre car wont be taxed too heavily. Though hopefully we find out today if he gone or not. I didnt vote for him!
  6. I went on ebay and ordered. Searched for: grounding kit is200. There is only 1 and it has Stav's Car all over it. He will supply in a good few colours too. I bought it to smooth out the engine even more and to get better audio quality and to maybe remove flatspots plus to see what improvement you can get for 40 quid. Plus i'm bearing in mind the OP drives a 300 so i'll see much less performance gain - no galeforce 8 tailwind lol I was tempted to also buy an £30 electric supercharger, but i'll see how this gos first. :P Ed
  7. Phew, it does look like Vicky Parrot made a mistake. She was picked up on in the Autocar forum for it and they seem to have hastily re-edited the article so that it seems ok but is in fact complete nonsense now: It looks like she wrote it in response to this: http://driving.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_...icle3842848.ece Basically before it was to be that you guys with post March 2001 cars would only pay the band F Tax as: Band G Over 225 – for cars registered on or after 23/03/06 £400.00 However the government will make you pay the full £400 as of next april! Ed
  8. No the government are planning on pushing this as far back as possible. So this is potentially going to hit all Lexus owners who drive cars that were still in production in March 2001. Thats about as far back as i think they could push it as they need CO2 data. Though someone mentioned MOT emmisions test data!!
  9. Well i know Ken can't drive!! So what does he know about cars? If you guys want to do something about it: http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/UNFAIR-VED/ The more on there the better.
  10. Yeah thought about this too. The only thing i can think of they will tax cars that they do have data on..........ie an X reg IS200 is the same as a Y reg. But they won't be able to tax cars extra that werent build after March 2001 so they will still work on the above or below 1.5ltr bands. Again just my thoughts
  11. "The Government has admitted that it intends to include cars built before March 2001 in the new road tax regulations due to come into force next April. The new tax rules are being introduced in stages, and will see cars that produce more than 225g/km being charged £300 next year and up to £445 in 2010, compared with the current rate of £210. Regulations currently state that cars produced before March 2001 will be exempt from the highest Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) bands, but the government’s rethink means that these older cars could be subject to as much as £245 more tax per year. The new tax rates were announced in this year’s budget, which you can read more about by clicking here. A new showroom tax was also announced in the 2008 budget, which will see car buyers paying up to £950 for the privilege of buying new." Lifted striaght from autocar. http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsArticle/AllCars/232518/ Ok now i'm getting really P****d off about this. How can they penalise cars that were made before this CO2 frenzy started. I thought i was safe from all this tax milarky having an X reg, but it seems not to be the case now!
  12. ur famous mate!!! :winky: lol so not my intention! Just the fact that Stav helped design it gives it a hell of a lot more stock with me than the rest of the Ebay tat. Been looking at these for a while wondering whether to buy.
  13. Yeah me too. Anyone know what this one is?
  14. Right well i've just bought the stav kit off ebay. I'll let you guys what differences i notice on a stock is200. Ed
  15. Well it is illegal to drive if it does not have an MOT and/or Tax. And you can't tax without the MOT. So, hes just being law abiding........though i'm sure there will be some rule saying hes not allowed to let you drive it away without Tax & MOT, so i'm sure its more to do with avoiding a fine than being law abiding. Ed
  16. Nice thread resurrection guys. Well my sqeaking has stopped. However i now have alot of feedback through the brake pedal on light high speed braking. I think i've got a stuck caliper and my brake pads are now worn. But im not 100%. Baller it may be a stuck caliper for you too. Try jacking up the car and spinning all 4 wheels. They should all free spin. The fronts more than the backs. The the back 2 should spin the same. If one sticks there's ur problem.
  17. From what ive read they do make going over bumps where only 1 wheel is affected much harsher as it effectively increases the spring rate. But doesn't make any diferences to 2 wheel bumps. Is this not true?
  18. i may be wrong but i think it was more an "have u steam cleaned or jet washed the engine?" because that may have caused the problem, along the lines of water getting into bits it shouldnt! I have had this problem before but mostly in winter early in the morning or when pouring with rain, but it hasnt happened since i put Denso IK20s in. But then you have checked the spark plugs......
  19. Hi guys, Still havent moved on this yet. Problem is i'm buying a house soon and having to be really tight with money, but then the car does need presents! Though i am thinking of a refurbed darker alloys, double-din touch screen w. bluetooth and an exhaust (janspeed?) aswell for her which i cannot afford colectively, though i do recognise the ARB is the best individual mod. Anyway heres a question. If stiffer Anti-roll bars reduce body roll in corners and almost all cars are fitted with them AND they do not affect the comfort of the ride, why do cars not get manufactured with stiff bars in the first place? cheers, Ed
  20. Yeah there a few of them round me. But as most said mostly the same ones too and from work. Ones an Altezza Sportcross (i think its called something else isnt it?) that looks just wrong. I dunno i really dont like the altezza grill mostly lol. Strangely though down my way (wandsworth, sw london) most ISs are driven by women! (Only strange cos from what i can tell most of us are lads.)
  21. Thanks rob! Wish i had enough time and money to pop off to the US. Though your thread on ARBs galvanised me a little, so a genuine thanks is in order. Anyway, thanks for the replies guys, basically if it was all going to come in under £300 - which it looks like it will be - then i'm gonna go for it. Otherwise i was gonna see what sunny old england had for me. I'll let you know hot it pans out............
  22. Hi Guys, I've been reading around the forum with the idea of purchasing some ARBs for my car. Having read up on it here, it looks like the Hotchkis ones are the best, but have to be imported from the US. I've contacted the ebay guy in the US and i can have it delivered for £220 and with VAT on top it'll be more like £260. So, finally, the question: What other charges are likely to be slapped on top of that? And does anybody know how much they could/would be? Just trying to budget it all you see. cheers, Ed
  23. Shell V Power is supposed to have a higher ron than the other "power" fuels i think Standard = 95, Super = 97, V Power = 98-100 (notsure) I don't notice any difference with the other premium fuels (ultrimate, exellium etc..) but i do with V-Power. As before it gives better mpg, smoother engine, and (maybe placebo) a tad more grunt to the engine.
