  1. I had the same problem and it is due to the clips being missing from your calipers. These are pretty cheap if you buy them direct from lexus - about £7 a side. Dont let them con you into buying the "kit" as its about £60 and if you buy all the clips front and back doesnt go above about £40.
  2. I'm bidding on a set of Anthracites as they aren't on BIN, so play nice people please. :)
  3. If you floor it in snow mode you have still floored it havent you?? Just takes a little longer for the car to realise. So SC every time
  4. Technically VVT-I is on all the time, but advances the ignition pretty hard around 4000rpm. The engine note does change then but i wouldnt say it was laboured.
  5. I've got the same on mine. I just put it down to a mildly warped disc and will just live with it untill i need to change them - which will be soon. I have also had people tell me that it could be bits of brake pad that have become attached to the disc when you hold the brakes on at the lights for example after some heavy braking.
  6. The pictured car is deffo manual on both seats i think the s got an electric drivers seat later on.
  7. Spider dont set off the alarm. I didn't drive the car for a few days and there was this ENORMOUS spider sitting in the middle of the car having spun a web from the windscreen to the passenger set when i got in. It was a bit of a shock - i'm a tad arachnophobic so jumped straight back out! But the point is it didnt set the alarm off once!
  8. Apparently it is better than others as it keeps the pipe away from the exhaust manifold which reduces the intake temp. Whether you'll get any better gains than a K&N panel is another question - to which i think the answer will be unoticable if any but a much nicer sound.
  9. I'm round Heathrow way every so often so i may have been one being nice :). I tend to let IS200 owners more slack than other Lexus owners TBH but then the fat cat in his ls600h doesnt really need my help does he??
  10. If your not looking for drilled + grooved then you cant really go wrong with the mintex brand. While they are cheaper than Lexus ones they perform as well and have the added benefit of less brake dust. You can get all 4 sets of pads and discs off Ebay for under £200. Which reminds me i need to shell out for a set soon! If you do want drilled and/or grooved then the sky is the limit.
  11. I wouldnt say 153bhp is low performance for a 2ltr 10 year old design. The problem for some is that its all top end. BMW only just upped their 2ltr from 150bhp to 170bhp for example.
  12. Yeah i know im risking it - but i put through air filter on the quote on its own and it was more expensive than having exhaust and lowering springs (which i would also declare if fitted). I would most deifintely declare though if i had a full induction kit.
  13. Thanks for that info. What about your air filter upgrade? Does that need to be declared as well? Cheers, M. Nothing else i declared, probably being a tad naughty, plus it is just a lifetime filter really: no performance gain just bit nicer noise. Plus i can swap the air filter in seconds for the original.
  14. lol i think i use it more during winter to clear the windscreen than i do in summer to cool me down!
  15. It is a modification. I had to pay the extra on my insurance and its about £30 of a £730 Premium. But tha was exhaust/manifold, so i could do both - not that i have.
  16. It is by your right leg. There is just a cap on the connector. If you run your hand just under the dash then you will hit it, its a little wobbly in my car.
  17. can also be the brake pads moving if the clips are missing. I'd get the ball joints looked at though just in case.
  18. me too - well dependant on price.
  19. 1: There are 2 TTe bumpers. 1 with and 1 without the headlamp washer cut outs. 2: Fit it yourself, not too hard. 3. Grill built into bumper
  20. I wouldn't worry about getting pulled over when entering the city there probably wasn't a specific reason. They pull random cars all the time, apparently there are terrorists on the rampage.............oh and i would think that a TTE kitted is200 would look quite done up to most people, though i wouldnt have thought a copper.
  21. If you check the service book you will see the mileage at each service and if it gos up regularaly year by year it should be fine. It'll only be a worry if there are years with high mileage and then years with low mileage.
  22. 1. The vibration from the gearstick is normal i have it in my car. 2. I havent heard of any clocked ISs but im sure there have been some in the past, but you say the interior and log book verify the mileage so trust your instincts really when it comes to the miles. However such low mileage on a car may also be a problem as on average it has only been doing 4.5k per year. Now that not a problem as long as it was being used on regular basis but such low milage may well point to it sitting unused for long periods of time and cars need to be used on a regular basis to stay on top form. 3. You don't NEED the LSD on the standard 200, though it is nice to have but not worth the 4.5k extra nor the cost of retro fitting one either. However if you think you can fit one yourself then they are relatively cheap (compared to the 4.5k extra for the sport) especially if you are going to uprate the power.
