    I had one of those for many years. It was a wonderful car but to tell the truth it was quite expensive to run. It's all relative of course and it depends on what you call expensive. It's a compley car especially if you have the TEMS suspension (which is wonderful BTW, I wish my current Lexus had it) If you look on the forum http://toyotaimportsforum.co.uk/ then there are some Soarer Gurus there.

    I remember seeing that on TV all those years ago. Toyota got it right straight out of the box and it was a much newer design than the European offerings at the time. The Merc was ancient at the time and the old Jaguar XJ40 was a motoring joke It took Europe a long time to catch up but by then the Lexus brand was established. Well done Toyota!! As for the "near silence" and "great handling" I'm still not convinced, especially the handling which is :o

    I wasn't satisified at all when I tried a radio transmitter, it ended up in the bin quite soon. One of the best features of the LS400 is that it has a decent stereo. Do you know how much it would cost to fix? Or maybe rip it out and put in an iPod adaptor.

    I'll get my screwdrivers to it this weekend. Hopefully something I can fix myself. Either that or just rip the wires out so it stays fixed in the same position!!!!!!!! :)

    My LS400 is developing a fault with the motorised steering wheel adjustment. It retracts fully when I remove the key but doesn't always come back to the same position when the key is reinserted. Sometimes it moves a little and just stops. Sometimes it comes to the correct place but less frequently now. Is this likely to be a loose connector or something more sinister? I don't see the point of the wheel retracting in the first place. It's a feature for beer bellied drivers so it's not necessary and now it's starting to annoy me. Thanks

    The red button is the passenger ejector seat, DO NOT PRESS THIS BUTTON. It also enables the gear selector to be moved from Park with the engine off.

    I just bought my X-Box yesterday and proudly set it up under my TV :-D Obviously it will take me ages to become profficiant at any of the 360 games but I look forward to getting my ***** kicked by you guys in the near future!! :)

    I had a W140 S500 and man, that was SOLID. My LS400 feels a bit flimsy in comparison. I think the W220 S-Class is not in the same league though. I've never been in a 430 but the 400 is nice. Reasonably comfy (but the W140 was more so) Quick enough without being acary, good ecconomy too. All in all a good all round car. Could do with a tad more space, a bit more power and a more "special" feeling. Then it would be perfect!

    I get around 23 around town and around 34 on the motorway if I take it reasonably steady. Aboviously this drops off dramatically if I'm cruising at 100-130 mph but that's to be expected. I don't have an LS430 BTW, just an LS400.

    My SC400 didn't like burnt CDs either. The changer IIRC is a Pioneer and and are hard to find now. The audio shop said it would be near impossible to get a new changer to work off the existing controls but I have no other evidence of this being a fact. Nice car though :)

    I get paid in Euros so this is good for me. But it's dropped so much in the last month that I'm wondering where it will settle at. a one to one ratio would suit me fine :)

    I have a 2000 LS400 and I need to know what make the stereo is. Are they all the same? Or were there different upgrades? Cheers.

    Fair enough. I bought some new decals for my Supra and I've been waiting for some good weather and some spare time to get them painted (Red). If it's that easy then It doesn't sound like I'll neeed so much time. Cool

    Don't you take the callipers off the car to paint them??? It sounds like you just took the wheel off and went round with a brush.

    You must be able to get cheaper but still good tyres for less than that.
