  1. hmmm, sounds like I won't be returning to th euK for some time to come. Berlin doesn't have much sun or sea but makes up for it in other ways ;)
  2. I have an LS400 from 2000 which may well be different but I tilted the player up and slid the button rearwards with the ignition in ACC position. The disc was ejected and I popped in the new one.
  3. None that I'm aware of over a MKII Leaking power steering pump maybe. Needles that don't light up. AC controls that don't light up. ??
  4. it will come into force on January 1st
  5. I agree. totally I got my Green sticker from my local Lexus dealer. A few of my friends were having trouble with their garages so they went to mine and got sorted out no problem. Lexus service :D
  6. If you are planning to drive into Berlin city centre or one of a few other German city centres then you will need a sticker on your car!! This is obligatory and is necessary even if driving in for a day!!! I guess not too many non-Germans know about this and even here the signs are only in German. The good news is that it's only €5 and lasts forever. The bad news is that failure to display a ticket carries a €40 fine. more info here: http://www.berlin.de/sen/umwelt/luftqualit...oschuere_en.pdf Cleaner air for Berlin!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. Yes, works a treat :) As I have English as my default language I still have the lovely woman from before I imagine that the German lady would be, er, very direct LOL.
  8. Hi all For Christmas I decided to buy the German sat nav discs for a present for my LS400. I am interested to see if the German woman has a sexy voice like the British girl :)
  9. As soon as I buy any of the above cars then I'll make a new comparison list :) I used to have a Jaguar XJ8 and I can truly say that it was a pig pile of pooh
  10. You can tell I'm a bit bored at work today :) I thought I'd make a comparison chart with my LS400 pitted against my old S-Class The cars in question are UCF20 MKII (2000) and a W140 S500 (1998) Refinement: Both pretty noise free, even at speed. More tyre noise in the Lexi but less wind noise Lexus 9 Merc 9 Performance: Lexi has the edge on acceleration and the delivery is smoother too Lexus 8 Merc 7 Economy: Lexi about 10% more economical which it would be with the smaller engine Lexus 7 Merc 6 Comfort: The S-Class is a whole class of car bigger and has amazing seats Lexus 9 Merc 10 Reliability: The main reason I sold the Merc was impending big bills Lexus 9 Merc 7 Car park presence: Lexi goes almost unnoticed, the big Merc stood out, literally! Lexus 7 Merc 9 Quality: Materials and robustness. The W140 really was tank like. Lexus 8 Merc 9 Just my opinion and no scientific data to back up my scores :) No animals were harmed during this survey.
  11. Well over a quid in Berlin too :( Even more if you want 98 octane (which I don't)
  12. Is it possible to switch this feature off? (UCF20) My old Soarer had a button to disable the auto tilt. I don't find it necessary.
  13. I'm glad I'm not the only one who suffers from cold hands/warm bum syndrome. I'm getting a wooly steering wheel cover for mine :D BTW, on the warm bum side, it gets pretty hot and only one setting. My old Merc had high and low settings!
  14. I love that car!!!!!!!! I don't have 55 large but I'm working on it :)
  15. I think Lexii are too common for all that waving and stuff. That said I hardly see any in Berlin, none like mine at all. So I would wave here if I saw one. When I'm in my Supra I wave and always get a wave back :)
  16. I'm getting the German one which should be delivered tomorrow all being well. That's €120 from a main dealer or about 85 quid
  17. Mine is a 2000 (W) MKIV and that's CD based. I think the DVD came with the LS430
  18. It is very very light I agree. It took me a while to get used to my old Mercedes (very heavy) and about the same time to re-adjust to the Lexus. You will get used to it and I like the minimal effort
  19. I had a Soarer some years ago. It was the 4.0 but appart from the engine I think most of the rest of the car is similar. Problems I had were new fuel pump. Leaky power steering pump (which leaked into the alternator). Broken window regulator. I had the air suspension which needed some work on it too towards the end, problem with one of the sensors. Other than that it was pretty fast, superbly comfortable and great to drive. I have a Supra TT which has a similar engien to the Soarer TT, just a little bigger. I've had this car for 5 years and not had one single problem with it. Toyota make great cars and I include my LS400 in that. Go ahead, I don't think you'll regret it. If you don't buy it then maybe I will :D
  20. My old S500 had double glazing. TO be honest I didn't really see the benefit appart from it sounds cool to say you had double glazing in your car :) Wind noise was similar, I didn't really think about the rain noise
  21. I shall try this out on mine. When you say "top left" I presume you mean top left of the touch screen
  22. Reprogrammes the shift point for the gear box. Does not change anything to do with the engine output.
  23. I'm not a big fan of built in systems as they offer little in upgrading as technology advances. The Steroe on my LS is OK but not great. No iPod connection, only six CD changer. No remote control and that bloody tape deck. Everyone laughs at it :-)) The sound quality is adequate but not stunning.
