  1. Any recommendations for a good painless dent guy? In case lexus do snub me on this.
  2. I have tried to rack my brain to figure it out. I had washed the car on a warm/hot day and hosed it down with cold water. The temp did drop in the evening/night. We don't have anyone going past the car, no wheelie bins, no trees near by and unless someone set out to purposely put a dent there I can't see how it could have happened. The strangest this is that there is not a scratch on it. So if it was done by someone knocking into it they went into it and then reversed back in the same line. How many drivers/cars can you think of that could put a dent like that in the car without scratching it. I showed it to a local car mech and he didn't think it looked like an impact. it has got me scratching my head
  3. I have recently found a strange dent on the right front wing of my IS250c. There is no associated paint chip/scratch/mark. There is no sign of it being hit. In fact it would be pretty difficult for it to have been hit as it is parked on my driveway and was fine when I parked and dented when I came back. Has anyone else ever seen this happen? I have heard of some cars (bmw mini) having an issue with roof dents caused by hot weather, could this be similar? If so do you think it would be covered in the cars warranty? The car was new at sept 2009. will try and post some pics but it is difficult to see due to the reflections. What should I do? If I take it to lexus bodyshop will they a) laugh at me for thinking this can happen spontaneously, 2) fob me off, c) accuse me of trying to pull a fast one? Your help is as always much appreciated. .jpg].jpg]
  4. Some pics, not clear due to reflections (and I know, the car needs a clean!).jpg].jpg].jpg]

  6. from the Oz LOC: You should find an answer here. http://discussions.a...471357&tstart=0 Something about resetting via the general settings menu. 'thanks for the link, I was able to solve the problem with the SETTINGS -> General -> Reset -> Reset All Settings I reset the phone, waited for it to restart, then connected to USB in car. The message on the screen (car) was something about searching or scanning ipod device, then the music started playing I was able to do all the same operations I was able to previously I will report back later as to the continued status of this 'fix' but all looks good so far. The iPhone still reports that "This accessory is not optimised for iPhone blah blah blah" however it still works well enough to control via the vehicle controls. thanks again dis-lex-sic '
  7. Well, thats after i sent the 'feedback' form sent from Lexus HO and i wrote the full story. They called me saying, we didn't do it cause it was 50% worn. But, the service guy on the day said they did. My feeling is that you have: 1. been messed around by leicester 2. been charged for an unnecessary part replacement If it were me I would put in a formal letter of complaint to Lexus GB.
  8. Let me get this straight - you booked for work to be done in Lincoln on the basis of an inspection from leicester lexus and then after the job is done they tell you that the work need not have been done? In my opinion the work should be paid for by lexus leicester as they gave you false information which meant you spent an unnecessary (at the time) £234. get them (leicester) to put into writing what you were advised both on the day and on the phone after before making any other moves, then write a letter of complaint and compensation of costs.
  9. I topped up the windscreen coating (gardx) that came with the customer pack and so far no ice on the front screen (all the neighbours have been out scrapping). other options include rainX.
  10. I read somewhere that tesco offers cheaper super unleaded fuels because they source cheaper each time and so you actually get a different fuel each time. is this true or an urban myth?
  11. the quickest way is to get a little warm (not hot or kettle boiled) water and pour gentle over from the top of the screen. the water need only be a little warm as it will still melt the frost/ice. then use a water blade to complete. oh, and worth turning the car on and pressing the windscreen button on the aircon and the wiper heater button. :D
  12. could it be a glitch in the sensor. my old car (a merc slk) used to have the same problem until they replaced a chip in the computer. i guess if the computer is flaggin up a non-existent problem it is likely the sensor or the computer
  13. try locking the glove box and see if the noise is still present. it could be a loose latch
  14. Nice summary, especially agree with the last point on your wish list I have the DAB option and it does help with some of the broadcast clarity but for some reason the text option does not have much info such as current playlist or which show I'm listening to. I don't tend to have need for the traffic announcements as I use the RDS-TMC for updates and it's pretty well updated.
  15. if it came with the phone or is branded should be okay. if it is specific for the phone and bsi marked you should also be okay.
  16. autotrader has good fraud advice section on their site. Also it is worth logging the details of anyone that gives a obvious scam deal.
  17. Hammond, 2 car crashes and major head injury.... I rest my case. No, seriously I agree the car is a cruiser not a bruiser in the engine stakes and it is a real shame it wasn't a 350c in the UK. But the satnav is much better than he states. I have had no problems with it. It even knows the country lanes I like (and it is dynamic so if you kind of know where you are heading it will help you along). The dashboard is very easy to follow esp. as I have had the is250 previously. I looked at the audi A5 convertible but the hard top swayed it for me (and the over all build quality / reliablity / customer service aspects). I think when it comes down to it if the IS250c was really an IS350c it would be a perfect and even Hammond would be happy (but would still crash it even with acc/pcs)
  18. How long does the bottle last? do you need to reapply as often as suggested (or more or less)?
  19. I haven't had the pleasure of meeting any other 250c owners and would be interested in what they might think of their car. I am very pleased with the car in general. There is a little bit more road noise than the saloon. Also there is some rattle from the roof (but I think a bit on lube on the seals might be all that is needed to solve that). The 2010 HDD satnav system with gracenote, usb/ipod connection, DAB radio is a welcome upgrade. The sound is better and when the roof down it doesn't lose depth. It is ever so slightly slower in acceleration than the saloon, but when the hood is down what is the point of burning off when getting the appraising looks!!. One of the best new features is the extended seat heat/vent system which goes further up the back. Was roof down on a 10degree sunny morning and extremely comfortable. The climate control seems more responsive and effective than the saloon. So, any others out there?
  20. if its for side and rear use only then it should be durable enough to make it cost effective. if you want something for the windscreen then maybe rain-x is better
  21. http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/products/prod...repellents.html this puts the halfords product top of the pile
  22. why not take both and then see which looks/works better
  23. might be best to look around at some of the non-lexus after market bluetooth kits. Some have better features - some of the parrot ones are really quite good and will prob. be less expensive
  24. or maybe it was reversed over the edge of a bridge on the tracks below before being hit by a train!!!
  25. WHAT THE F@#&??? sounds like your car was made at a russian yugo factory by mistake! A video clip of this happening would be useful to see what you actually mean
