parthiban,, have a look here, select your current phone and then compare it with the g1, it has the sizes amongst the specs so you get an idea.. ie, my N95 is (wxhxd) 53 x 99 x 21mm, the G1 is 55.7 x 117.7 x 17.1mm

ellz, yes was running rooted RC8, i did however revert back to the proper RC8. let me backtrack here, to enable rooting you have to downgrade to RC7 (RC30-33 for USA) first, this is to exploit the programming which allows root access, then you do some other bits to then upgrade to the latest rooted (hacked) RC version which has extra goodies of course. so cause of the freezing probs i went back to RC7 and then let the phone ask to upgrade to the proper latest version (via market) and it still froze, hell it even froze after a full wipe/reset (power and home key) on the sign in screen. so its gone back to the ebay man.. @ parthiban, sim unlocking was as simple as entering a code, the ebay guy the phone came from does it for 15 quid, you give him your IMEI and he emails back with the code. Im on O2 and have full functionality. not sure what you mean about loosing the google part.. you need a google account as far as i know to get the phone running. Ie turn on the phone from new and you have to sign in or create your google account. this will then sync and setup your gmail, gcontacts and gcalander for you. of course you dont have to have contacts or calender, but certainly a gmail account regardless of if you use it or not, the G1 does however allow for other email setups.

only hard bit was finding the info and then finding out the meanings of things. I started to use the Guide as detailed on this thread, however i used the mount -o rw etc etc code from this youtube tutorial (at 5m45s in) as i found the code on this thread to have some syntax errors. I then used this guide from androidwiki which gave some useful tips to to lookout for. give it a whirl, if you get stuck you can always revert bac to teh RC7 version then when you go into market from the G1 it will try to update to the current RC8 software and hey presto back to normal. i am however having phone freezing issues, even with the normal non tweaked phone, so may have to send it back..

finally got my G1 yesterday, been busy jailbreaking it (or rooting as its called) only probs im having is the last part, but im sure i can sort it, just need to read up some more. Overall impression so far, im liking android and its possibilities., will say more once i sort out the final bit of rooting..

dont listen to them saying you need the whole unit, i once just needed the open/close button for the sat nav of my is300,, tried telling me it only comes as a complete screen/motor... luckerly my friendly LOC member who works inthe parts dept of lexus supplied me the button only number.. Do they know actually the fault, is it the motor that moves the panel that shuts of the outside air or is it the electronics that move it..

have a look here you can pick two phones to compare hardware specs, have a compare of the HD and PRO against the G1,, then for your ammusement compare against the iphone... ellz,, yeh saw that protecter, pretty impressive, meant to tell you about it..

Laughing My Arse Off... its the upgrade to LOL. Dont worry about putting me out of business, really im not bothered in the slightest, its pocket money and not my main income.. I think the americans are 'annoyed' as there self proclaimed mobiletronics guru never worked it out.. I'll have a look at my wiring diag see if i can find anything for you..

yes indeed there is fair usage on everything nowdays lol. the G2 looks a sleeker design..

LOL only took 4 YEARS for someone to come up with a solution, and a lone russian at that lmao, certainly i will be reducing my price now. Nav voice will work if you JUST replace the headunit leaving the original wires in place. If you add amps etc, then yes you will need to re-route some wires to get the voice back to the drivers speaker wireing diagrams available on my web.

G1 is the Google phone made by HTC,, has VERY similar hardware specs to the HTC touch HD. Ellz, have you not got unlimited date on your tarriff, therfore the net usage app is pointless., coming from the iphone tariff i have unlimited data.

i have looooooooads of the connectors that go into the back of the stock headunit which you could use to reconnect the wires to and thus be back to normal. Could send one to you for fiver, also have a look on my web here and download my manual for the nav bypass, you will pin/wire details and colour wiring diagrams, doesnt matter how many speakers you got as there is only L+/- and R+/- output from the headunit and no front or rear as the stock amp does that. @ aztec, dont suppose you got a link for the LS wiring diagrams, namely the instrument cluster..s'all right just found them, although i really need for older than 2001..
