  1. I think they'll produce another IS-F, but not sure if it will be available in Britain again. How many have they sold here in the last 5 years? 200-300? Is it worth it for Lexus?
  2. This is computer render of what the IS-F Coupe might look like with the new IS design.
  3. There were images of coupe released a while back being tested on a track. Could it be going into production? This is one of the pictures:
  4. I think its a Japanese thing. When range is 0, you still have 50 miles to go i.e. the reserve. In German cars 0 means 0.
  5. I thought so. So its basically a full service (around £450) plus spark plugs. Considering genuine spark plugs cost £100, is the rest labour to change them? Are they that complicated to change?
  6. Anyone has a PDF with the IS-F Maintenance schedule? My 60,000 miles schedule is due next year and I want to find out what it involves (itemised list of components and labour). Apparently it is a big one and dealer says it will cost £1K.
  7. Lexus warranty was around £900 a year, so around £1800 for two years, which was a bit too much. I ended up going with Warranty Wise, cost me £950 for 2 years, and there is no part list (everything included). Obviously the Lexus warranty is less hassle if there is an issue, but I couldn't justify the cost (AA breakdown costed me £55 anyways).
  8. Wow great deal if anyone needs them. I think I read somewhere the dealer charges almost £1K for each one! The fact they are refurbished means they can be repaired, as I read somewhere that Lexus doesn't supply the paint code for them.
  9. The blue one is an unbelievable bargain. Basically it has more than 50% off RRP in just over two years, someone must have taken a big hit on that one! I am pretty sure all those with the part blue steering wheel (where the F is) have the mechanical LSD. Prior to that they all have an electronic LSD, which works pretty well unless you want to push hard on a track.
  10. It can invalidate the warranty on your entire braking system. I reckon EBC brake pads may be an issue with warranty, but pads that are designed to OE should not be an issue.
  11. If you buy OE brake pads they should not void the warranty. £900 is absolutely ridiculous for pads.
  12. After the 3 year initial depreciation, the car seems to be holding its value pretty well. My car has barely depreciated £2500 in 1 and a half years (going by dealer prices).
  13. For any experienced service technician, the DIY fix would take 1 hour at most, so approx. £100 in labour. Instead they are too lazy and prefer to charge you to replace the whole unit for £4200 which, apart from the ribbon, is completely fine and functional. Its like Lexus suggesting that your replace your whole car when your brake pads wear out! A lot of these official service technicians don't have any initiative, they just follow what the computer says, what the workshop manual says or what the technical bulletins say. It is very poor service.
  14. Thanks for the reply. But say for example this site: http://lovetyres.com/tyre/Bridgestone-Potenza-RE050A/255-35-19 On the right hand side there are different options and prices for the same tyre dimensions and speed rating, its just the two last letters that vary (and I have seen the same on other sites). It is confusing, while on Kwik fit there is no mention about VZ or any other letter, so I am not sure what are the differences. I am just curious to know, I'll probably buy from blackcircles anyways since it specifically has the Lexus symbol on it (can't go wrong with that): http://www.blackcircles.com/catalogue/bridgestone/re050a/255/35/R19/Y/96/f?returnurl=%2forder%2ftyres%3fversion%3d2.0&tyre=20824172 I don't rate the rim protection of the Bridgestone, as my rims are not in a very good state! But since I only need one tyre replaced at the moment I can only choose the tyre that matches the existing ones.
  15. I need to replace one of my tyres due to a puncture, so trying to find the Bridgestone Potenza RE050A as originally fitted with the car. The tyre size is 255/35R19Y. As I understand, some tyre models have special variants for specific manufacturers. The Lexus code is "VZ", my question is what is the difference between the same tyre with and without the "VZ"? If I go to Kwikfit for example it only asks me for the usual tyre size, diameter etc, but not the manufacturer, so I am wondering how important is the manufacturer variant? Would the standard version of the tyre fit?
  16. £4200! That's shocking. It could be long shot but you could try contacting Lexus GB and tell them how dissapointed you are, they might subsidize some of the cost. Mine froze once, but restarting the car fixed and haven't experienced it since. Hope it is not a sign that it will fail soon! Or if you are a DIY person read this: http://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-second-generation/610678-frozen-navigation-screen-fix-diy.html
  17. I bought a WarrantyWise policy (Quentin Wilson's company) a few months ago for my IS-F. The Lexus warranty was coming to £1800 for 24 months, while WarrantyWise on their top cover was half that. I can't comment on how easy it is to claim as I luckily haven't used it yet, but the sales process was very good. My advice is to do a quote, then wait for a sales person to contact you and then start bargaining, don't settle for the online quote. I know the Lexus warranty is completely "no-hassle", but the cost difference was huge. If the difference is only around £200 I would go with Lexus.
  18. I think maybe Brembo manufactures the OEM ones as well as aftermarket ones for the IS-F, and they might not be the same (seems strange). These are the OEM Brembo ones: http://is.sewellpart...F-2009-364.html The OEM ones are quite expensive, even in the US. The ones supplied by NextDayBrakes look exactly the same as the OEM ones from the outside, but can't tell the ventilation system the OEM is using from the link above. I might be wrong though, I am basing this on the fact that I read on the US Maintenance manual the following: While the ones supplied are non-directional. Maybe the specs for the discs in Europe is different to the US.
  19. Their website definitely still says £90.xx inc. VAT for A PAIR:- Brembo Vented Rear Brake Discs (P/N 09.A301.11) fits Lexus IS-F (Pair) Yes, for the rear ones, they haven't realized yet. The front ones are gone (my first link). If you order the rear ones and it gets despatched, they would have to honour the contract and send you another one for free. Regarding the discs, I think they use a different ventilation system than the OEM. I believe the OEM discs are directional, and the right and left discs cannot be swapped around. These ones have no right or left, and they use something called Pillar venting technology (whatever that is). More info here for whoever is interested: http://bremboaftermarket.com/En/Car_Disc_Catalogue/Catalogue_Detail.aspx?ApplicationIDMaster=12560
  20. Just a quick update. I ordered the discs from NextDayBrakes. It turns out the price was for 1 disc only (£90 per disc), but they decided to honour the price in my case and sent me another one free. I had the suspicion anyways as the price seemed too cheap. Great customer service nevertheless from them, highly recommended and it does arrive next day by FedEx. Now need to find someone to put them on!
  21. I use Lexus Edgware Road all the time. Their service is good but their prices are really expensive. They are owned by JEMCA, who own quite a few Lexus and Toyota dealerships.
  22. It all comes down on how you use the car. These kind of cars are promoted using lap times and track times, hence why Lexus has focused most of the major updates to improve the car in these areas. However, if your car is 99.9% of the time on the public road, you are not going to benefit much from the changes. A 3 second gain on the track is huge, but will only translate to a small benefit during everyday use. The dashboard has been changed in the latest version, but some may argue is been made worse with that giant rev counter. Personally, for me the upgrades in the MM system were the most attractive (DAB, HDD and Bluetooth music), but would hardly justify spending several thousands of pounds. As for the ride comfort, I too don't notice my 2008 IS-F being too uncomfortable (and a few people that have sat on it haven't complained either when I asked them). Maybe I live in an area where roads are generally smooth (wouldn't have thought so). Reviews of the newer IS-Fs say the ride comfort has improved very little as well, again questioning whether is its worth the extra money to buy a newer model. But at the end of course it is all down to personal opinons and circumstances.
  23. Thanks for the advice. Will definately go for the discs. Regarding the pads, I found some APEC brake pads for less than half the price: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lexus-IS-F-5-0-Feb-2008-Front-Brake-Pads-1666-/290654296113?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item43ac589831 Apparently APEC do good products and usually match OEM standards (read this on PistonHeads). Any views on these? Will probably end up ordering the EBC ones (due to its alleged superior performance), but wanted to know anyways if anyone has had any experience with APEC? Regarding the current discs, I just had an advisory note on the MOT (done by Lexus) saying they are wearing too thin. Servicing department told me the pads are 90% worn, and the discs 80%, and that there was no point replacing just the pads, that I should replace both. On a completely unrelated note, I've been told the O/S/R tyre has a nail that has gone in sideways. Tyre has lots of thread left, can it be repaired? Lexus claims it cannot be repaired, but wouldn't trust them on this, they wanted £400 to replace the 1 tyre, when the price of the tyre is around £220 (Bridgestone Potenza)!
  24. I have been advised my front brake pads and discs will need replacing soon. Lexus wanted over £850 to replace them! I said no way! So I need advice on buying the parts myself. Would this combination be sufficient for the IS-F: Discs - Front Axle http://www.nextdaybrakes.com/brembo-vented-front-brake-discs-pn-09a30011-fits-lexus-isf-pair_p22283837.htm Pads - Front Axle http://www.ebcbrakesdirect.com/car/parts_pad.asp?part=pad&make=LEXUS&model=IS-F&year=5.0+%282007-%29# Around £200 for parts, how much you guys reckon would an independent garage charge to change them? (Not a DIY person) Also, if you have a better suggestion then please let me know. Heard some of you have ceramic discs, can they be bought in the UK?
