  1. Do they dim the same colour as the interior rear view mirror, i.e. green? What colour did they dim to? Never really noticed but I think they go blue/green, I'll have a closer look tomorrow. They don't dim as dark as the rear view mirror.
  2. The wing mirrors definitely dim. In fact the other day very bright street lights hit the sensor and switched of the dimming, and the difference was huge! Couldn't stand the glare from the headlights behind me.
  3. I'm not sure this is the case. The Ts and Cs state that the warranty is only eligible for lexus UK cars under 10 years old with less than 140,000; however, if the warranty is extending an existing lexus warranty, and provided there is no lapse in cover, the 140,000 mile restriction may be waived. I infer from that, that you can buy the warranty if you don't have one already but the car is less than 10 years old with fewer than 140,000 miles. Reading it again you may be right. Damn! If only they had this offer back in March when I was looking for a warranty extension. Now its too late, I am stuck with a third party warranty that costed me more! Hopefully won't have to use it...
  4. The way I read it, the extended warranty is only available if the manufacturer's warranty is about to expire (after 3 years from new) or if the approved Lexus warranty is about to expire (after 1 year from sale). I thought I missed out on this excellent deal but I don't think I would have been eligible anyways (I've had the car for 4 years now).
  5. IS-F warranty is around £900 a year, so for two years it is a very good deal. However beware Lexus have two types of warranty, one that is very comprehensive and almost matches new manufacturer's warranty, and another one which is poor value with poor coverage and low claim limits. Worth verifying which one they are offering.
  6. I've had mine go off a few times. Most of the time because I brake late, but sometimes it will activate if you are on a bend and it doesn't realize the car in front is turning away. It doesn't happen often and I find it a great safety feature. If yours is really going off when there is nothing in front of you, then definitely you need the radar checked (and try not to use adaptive cruise control).
  7. I think the IS220d was kind of a special case. From what I read (might be incorrect), they took the 2.2 diesel engine from the Avensis but had to make it work on a rear wheel drive car because its a Lexus. The Toyota Group didn't have a rear wheel transmission that could handle that much torque...except on one of their pickup trucks :-) Hence why the gearbox its so harsh on the IS220d.Also, due to the weight of the IS, they realized the CO2 was over the roof for a car that was targeted at companies, so they tweaked the ratios quite badly to lower emissions at the expense of drivability.
  8. The CT200h courtesy car was quite bad, harsh ride, underpowered, and makes all sorts of funny noises (brakes and transmission). The gearbox of the IS220d was quite bad as well. But nothing beats a Corsa.
  9. - Broken DVD Changer. Covered under 3rd party warranty (£1600) - Rattling driver air vent (problem with all IS models) - Bubbling on wheels - Slight squeaking noise from driver's seat (doesn't bother me too much) Apart from that perfect!
  10. Any updates on this Stu? I haver my 60k soon and the lowest quote i've had is £830.
  11. All Lexus and most Japanese cars are like that. When the trip computer says "0 miles" remaining, you can still go for another 20-50 miles (depending on engine size and driving style obviously). Germans on the other hand when it says 0, they really mean 0 miles remaining.
  12. Wrong forum section, this is only for the IS-F. I used to own a 220d and I'm guessing it has a chain, but don't take my word for it.
  13. 17-18 MPG on my 13 mile commute, no motorways or A roads.
  14. Last month my DVD changer stopped working, price to get it fixed: £1500 (Ouch! And that is only for a refurb.). I have a 2 year warranty from WarrantyWise which I bought 2 years ago for around £900. So I put a claim through which got authorised next day, booked the car in with Lexus, DVD changer got replaced, payed the full amount to the dealer and a week later received a cheque from WW for the full amount. Basically the whole process was hassle free (except e-mailing some documentation and cashing the cheque :-)). Thought this info might be useful for anyone looking to buy extended warranty, they are not all that bad it seems.
  15. Are you sure you are running 2008 DVDs? Can you enter a destination while the car is moving? If you can't then you are indeed running an old version of the DVDs and you should definitely upgrade as they unlocked entry in motion since I think 2010.
  16. I am not sure if Lexus GB will ever sell another F model in the UK. There is too much overhead associated introducing a model just to sell around 300 units. More worryingly I think latest trends indicate V8s are dying out in favor of turbo charged smaller engines. But I think all of the previous will help the F maintain a special status over here.
  17. Yep, I was offered between £12-£14K on p/x! That's way too much car for that amount of money.
  18. There is no official car charger for the QED uPlay because it was never meant to be used in cars, however it requires a standard DC 5V 500ma input (USB spec.) You should be able to get a car adapter that outputs that easily, the only thing is the connector needs to match. I bought mine ages ago but I think I got it from Maplin (or went to Maplin to check connector sizes and then bought online cheaper :-))
  19. Similar age, 10K miles per year, just under £700. My postcode is D.
  20. Get a bluetooth receiver and plug it into the 3.5mm jack. Then connect your phone both to the car and the bluetooth receiver and everything will work fine. That's how I got it working. I recommend the QED uPlay.
  21. £1100 is actually a fantastic deal considering it is a no hassle warranty, nice to know for when mine runs out. Just to give you an example, a mate of mine replaced my break pads, I then took the car for servicing 4 months later and they told me they were 70% worn.... yeah right! Maybe if had driven 4 months on a track! "Mild corrosion" again seems like your discs are fine and they just want an excuse to change them.
  22. Nice! Regarding replacing pads and discs, dealers are normally very eager to replace these for obvious reasons so I would have a second opinion before carrying the work. If you get them done through the dealer it may cost you almost £1K which is ridiculous. How much did you pay for the extended warranty if you don't mind me asking? Last time I asked it was around £900/year. £175 for rear tyres including VAT? That is extremely good value! Might take my car there when it needs them!
  23. So I was driving today and decided to switch from Aux to CD/DVD and nothing happened. The unit seems to cycle past the the DVD unit mode. Tried switching car on and off and nothing. None of the buttons related to the changer work (load, eject, disc change etc.) I think the heat has killed it :-(. Any ideas what could be wrong? The rest of the ML unit works perfectly fine. The car was sitting all day in a car park and when I checked the ambient temperature it was 39C so it was definitely very hot.
  24. How much did you pay if you don't mind me asking? Cheapest I've been quoted is around £950!
  25. I am not sure of the details, but surely there are quite a lot of costs associated with bringing a new model to the UK/Europe (e.g. compliance, training, marketing etc). With such low sales numbers, I am not sure they would be able to justify going through the hassle. Don't get me wrong, I would love it if they brought a new one, just can't see it happen reallistically, unless they are not actually bothered about the numbers and they want to use the IS-F to enhance the Lexus "sporty" image.
