  1. hi all, I have a feature on my IS250 SE-L where as you put it in reverse gear and the mirrors tilt to help you park close to the kerb. my question is , how much should they tilt? my mirrors tilt but not all the way where it sees the kerb. I remember when I first bought the car it did, but I don't really remember. I just rely on the reverse camera. I just want to know if there is an issue surfacing thanks in advance
  2. hi all, how you all doing? I changed my front brake pads on 31/3/2017. actually my local mechanic did it. a month later it was squealing at low speeds 5MPH - 10MPH . the squeal sometimes is real loud! I took it to him to check and grease. he said you don't grease modern brakes. he checked the brake discs and said that the front 2 discs are showing signs of wear. that's fine I hadn't changed them for a while. so we changed them. this was 27/7/2017. squeal gone. a few days later squeal was back. exactly how it was before. I phoned him up and told him. he said this was normal as the brake pads have not adjusted to the new brake discs. the bloody thing is still squealing. I do trust him as he has done work for me in the past and always given me free advice. mmm but I'm not sure. what do you think? thanks in advance
  3. hi all just to close this thread. issue resolved. the power connector was not seated in properly. all working fine now
  4. thanks steve, driving home yesterday I put the radio on. after 10 minutes it cut. I happen to see a friend whilst driving, I pulled over and had a chat. after 5 mins the radio just came back to life ! it stayed on for the duration of the conversation and the journey home! i'll monitor it again today. I might pull the unit out and check the connections are seated properly
  5. hi all, I started to encounter this problem yesterday. the radio cut off after 10 minutes of playing yesterday. I left it overnight and this morning it was working. then after another 10 minutes it turned off. here are some observations: radio plays, receives radio stations, volume works. speakers work but after 10 minutes shuts off no power after turning radio on and off light around on off and vol comes on, but no sound, cd also does not work at this point, does not load when you feed CD in any ideas? thanks in advance
  6. great thanks, i will let you know how i get on. have you ever changed the spark plugs yourself?
  7. hi all, i hope everyone is well. car: IS250 SE-L 2006 2.5 petrol i had the following lights come up on my display: engine light traction light (car skidding icon RHS of display) and the "check VSC" phrase i have ran it through torque app twice and here is the following: fault codes: P0031 HO2S Heater Control Circuit Low (Bank 1 Sensor 1) i know this to be the 02 sensor . i know there are four, so not sure where this is. im hoping engine bay side P0300 Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected P0301 Cylinder 1 Misfire Detected P0303 Cylinder 3 Misfire Detected i don't know what these three are. im wondering if it is to do with the spark plugs. i've never changed the spark plugs during my ownership. im wondering if i change these, will this resolve the issue? any advice will be appreicated thanks in advance Rishi (finest1)

  10. hi all i hope i posted this in the right section. my lexus IS250 SE-L 2006 started giving off a warning on my dash and my MM screen. it says "check sonar" so i naturally thought its the parking sensor. i've washed it, taken a cotton bud and tried to clean the rubber O as much as i can, trying to remove any crud etc, but still rings off an error. any ideas, exeriences? see photos attached error started tuesday 9th feb 2016 in the morning when i started the car. previous to this, no issues at all mmmm
  11. hi all, i thought i'd give you another update regarding my car insurance renewal. as usual, as i do every year, i ran my details in some comparison websites to get an idea of insurance. i obviously had a quote of £800 something (can't remember) from my previous insurer. as i ran my details and declared my incidents, i got quotes half that price!!! intrigued i called up the company and spoke to them. although it took around 40 minutes to make sure they captured all my details etc, they quoted me £425!!! so i called up my current insurer and asked if they could match it. they said no. so i asked them what my previous years quote was. £575 the replied. so i asked if my incidents made a difference this year. they said most probably. i phoned up the new insurer and double checked all my details including above incident. "its still showing as £425 sir". i asked why are they so competitve. the agent said they are a new insurance company started in 2014, maybe thats why, but he doesn't really know. anyway, i signed up with them. the insurers name....don't laugh...sure thing! insurance (underwriters allianz).
  12. hi all, thanks for all your contributions. i thought i'd update you and this thread. as you already know i dealt with the driver privatley. my insurance rang me and asked me how it went. (don't forget i had already asked them for advice) it was not the same person i had spoken to. anyway, they "logged" the incident, but i thought i'd share some of the conversation points with you: the insurance agent told me that it would have better to go through them as we'd be protected in case the other party claim for further injuries. if i went through the insurance, it would not affect my excess or my no claims, as i am not requesting any work done on my car, for example, if i had damage i needed fixing, then thats when my insurance would be activated. but as there was no damage, the insurance would have worked on getting the damaged car fixed. i was explaining that £250 that i paid has saved a whole load of hassle, and there is no way the insurance would have paid £250 for a scuff. the garage would have charged more. i had told them that i had written out a disclaimer which he signed. the insurance agent told me it does not really mean anything, and if the injured party makes a claim, they would still have to deal with that claim. the waiver can help, but may not, depending on the case. the insurance asked me for the drivers details, and later that day the insurance wrote to me and confirmed that they spoke to the driver, who said he was happy to be dealt with privatley and will not be making a claim whilst logging the basic details, i was trying to explain to the agent that i had scuffed the driver's bumper, and there was no damage to my car. i don't think the agent understood this,as it would seem that regardless of the "damage" it was still an incident, and it should be recorded. so if that being the case, we would be spending all day informing the insurance that you parked under a tree and bird pooped on the car, you had X amount of near misses today, you were on the motorway and stone flicked on the window... after the conversation i asked how is this being filed? agent said it is a note on my profile. would it affect my premium? he was not sure as sometimes it could and sometimes it may not, he couldn't tell me. so, now my insurance need renewing, when asked if i had any accidents, do i declare yes, or no?
  13. thanks for all your contributions. i'd thought i'd update you: i wrote out a private settlement receipt/waiver for the injured party to sign releasing me from any damages and future damages, which he signed i will be speaking to my insurance tomorrow. they told me they would put it on a file note, and not class it as a claim. however, i will raise the above with them to get a clear idea of how they will view it in the future. thanks
  14. hi all, i'd like to wish you all a happy and safe xmas!! i have a situation i would like your opinions on: i accidently bumped into someone from behind. it was a total mistake on my part. good news is there is minimal damage. basically i scuffed his bumper, it was low impact. only damage for me was a cracked number plate! so we exchanged details and he has given me a reasonable quote to get it repaired. i personally wouldn't bother, but i suppose its the principle of the fact. 1) how do i protect myself when i meet with him to verify i have paid him and we are effectivley "settled" 2) if i do number 1, i was thinking of telling my insurance so they can have his details in case he does a crafty and claims anyway. sounds ok, but would they class this an "incident" and will my premium go up. if it does go up, on average how much by do you think? im just thinking if the premium is less than what im paying, i might as well go the insurance route. i've never ever claimed in my driving life. thanks in advance finest1
  15. hi thanks for posting this, it sounds great! a few questions: 1) can you provide costs for this project and where to get the parts 2) is it possible to write a guide on how to change it, or upload some resources that tell you how? 3) does this increase BHP? 4) do you have to declare this to insurance, as it could be argued the car is not factory stock, or been modified thanks
  16. so, is there any other sources to get these bulbs from, other than lexus?
  17. thanks ray, i thought as much. i remember this 2 years ago when my friend at work got invited. we went. and there was nothing "spectacular" i'll probably give it a miss
  18. i'm assuming woodford as thats my local dealer to me
  19. well, i got "invited" by mail shot, my work colleague didn't. 2 years ago, he got invited and i didn't. the offer starts thursday. you can always phone lexus woodford and ask for Nicholas Brenner
  20. hi phil yes everything in their forecourt including used
  21. hi all, has anyone installed, or paid to install DAB radio in your IS250? mines 2006 SE-L and always thought it should have been included. thanks finest1
  22. i got my service from lexus woodford last month. £245 for interim. you should go for it, at least you will have the service stamp if you wish to trade or sell the car later. service was excellent as always. you get what you pay for good luck
  23. hi all, i got a mail shot from my local lexus dealer (lexus woodford). they are doing a special 5 day promotion where they claim they will be discounting all the cars on their forecourt to trade prices. i remember them doing this 2 years ago, but i didn't go. has anyone taken part in this, and what was your experience. was it as good as they're claiming, in terms of picking up a new lexus at a discounted price? thanks
  24. mileage won't matter too much. i bought mine slightly higher, but because i don't do much miles, i've clawed it back to just above average for its age. a car that is driven is reliable. the engine is designed to be used. japanese and german cars have very good solid reps for high mileage. there are members here who have over 130k on their clocks, no issues! this also depends on whether the car has been serviced regular or not. try to get as much paper work from the seller. if the seller has gone to his local mechanic for servicing, this is fine, but i would expect the receipts to be kept. i've kept mine. my is250 has been faultless. obviously you have to think about wear and tear, brakes, brake discs, bulbs. if you get the reg, you can phone any lexus and they can tell you the service history over the phone. i did this when i bought mine. i ended up talking to the actual mechanic who carried out the servicing, and asssured me to go for the car. i did!! regarding customising, that is something you need to check out with japanese car enthusiasts. body kits come from the US and japan, and at a price. TOMS do customising here in the UK, but very expensive. what to look for in a vehicle: google it! autotrader has good advice so does honest john. good luck!
