  1. hi steve, i have axle stands and access to a drive way (at my sisters outside london)
  2. hi all, hope you are all doing well has any of you changed your own oil? i know ideally the car needs to be on a lift to access it from the bottom. just wondering if any of you have tried it, or just go get it done at a garage i've seen some on youtube, but the ones i've seen are from the states where they have their own garage space thanks in advance
  3. yeah that was term i was trying to use "burn CD" i forgot, haven't burnt one in 10 years!!
  4. hi all, not sure if this has been posted already. my headlights are cloudy, anyone had any positive experiences of clearing this up? i know lots of videos on youtube, but sometimes it doesn't work when tried. thanks
  5. i thought it had something to do with the way the CD was recorded. the original CDs i have don't show the name of the tracks, however, someone gave me a copy of a CD and the tracks were displayed!!
  6. blimey! I paid my local mechanic to do it as I was having back issues at the time. he did it infront of me and in about 20 mins. cant remember how much I paid but it was £100 labour, I supplied the parts
  7. @Tyre Tread do you have any walkthroughs or video material of changing the spark plugs? was it difficult?
  8. hi all 2006 lexus IS250 SE-L auto I would like to remove the front 2 seats to give the leathers a real good clean and clean the carpets underneath I've had a good look around the seats and it looks simple, however I am weary of the electrics part of it as it has memory seats, heated and cooling functions and also an airbag sensor. can these seats be removed? im looking for any vids, or detailed walkthroughs many thanks finest1
  9. you changed your alternator? that would be handy if you did a walkthrough!!
  10. impressive Ahmed !! im so used to folding the mirrors when I leave the car I don't think I could get used to this! however I think its great. one thing though. I use the keyless function, where I walk to the car with the fob in my pocket. I lightly touch the handle and the car unlocks. can that unfold the mirror too, rather than use the fob?
  11. I've owned mine since 2010 (2006). apart from normal service, brake changes etc. I've only had one major issue, alternator went in 2018. that is the only major issue. apart from that car is solid, no issues, one of the best cars ive owned. I may have to sell it this year if you are interested. im looking to upgrade to another lexus (hybrid) PM me
  12. my alternator packed up a year ago (2006 model) so 12 years. If it is on your mind, I would look now for replacement ones and how much they cost, who will install it etc. a good mechanic and/or auto electrician could do this for you. salvage yards maybe a good idea. im really impressed with your mileage. how does the car run? mines hit 122k. no issues! smooth as anything!
  13. I recently replaced my battery with a bosch battery the battery code is: S4 026 Bosch Car Battery 12V 70Ah Type 068 S4026 bought from tayna batteries online hope that helps
  14. thanks all, I just bought the Bosch S4026 068 for £78 delivered!
  15. hi all, my battery is slowly dying. it was flat today, managed to get a boost start. my records show battery is 5 years old I saw this battery and pretty much think its correct. however, quick question: the terminals on the photo is the other way round. my positive is on the left. also, terminals are forward, mine are at the rear. Do I simply just turn the battery around? Lexus IS250 SEL 2006 automatic Petrol thanks https://www.tayna.co.uk/car-batteries/bosch/s4026/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI7JCFs6jY5AIV0tDeCh0Zvg1MEAQYASABEgI7RvD_BwE
  16. is it the V8 version? regardless, still would be an amazing car
  17. worth changing battery if you don't know the history of it. they are not that expensive but make sure you get the correct one as batteries have different dimensions. lots of posts regarding battery on this forum. if and when you get your new battery, put a sticker on the side with the date, then you will always know when you changed it. you'd be surprised just by changing the battery how many little things it can remedy. my car happens to be the SE-L version, when you look at how many features the car has, it has to be powered by something!
  18. hi all, the fault light went off 4 days after. not sure what it was. I put it down to the cold snap at the time. its been running fine ever since. however, I did clean the MAF sensor which I've never done in the 9 years I've had the car. upon inspection the MAF sensor did not look like it had any dark patches or carbon on it. regardless, I gave it a good spray with sensor cleaner. day after car was running fine. however on the second day I noticed the car was "eager." a touch more responsive in acceleration. I know it could be placebo or maybe the temperature rose by a degree or 2. any way according to internet and this forum, its worth cleaning the MAF sensor periodically. on sunday I drove from Gatwick to my home which was all motorway driving, no issues, car smooth. one last thought, I probably need to think about changing the spark plugs. thanks
  19. dear all, thanks so much for your contributions! some really good insight, and there was some contributions where my thinking was the same. @08ISF GSF!!! holy cow that's some serious hardware, if you have time please post some photos! @gb1600e You made me laugh! you devil!!! just to give you some background, I originally owned a GS300 MK1 sport, then moved on to the IS250 SE-L which im still driving now. the reason why I haven't changed cars yet, is there is nothing tempting me to sell up and go after. the good thing about this is I can indulge in going through all the major makes in my mind without committing. most of the time, its just a passing fad. so far my i'm showing interest in the following: IS300H F-sport GS450h F-sport NX300h F-sport ISF I've driven the GS450 and its a beast! I test drove the ISF when lexus did an open day in Barnet about ten years ago. but it wasn't enough time to truly "drive" the car some of you above mentioned that you bought out warranty with lexus, is that right? does that cover anything specific? please feel free to add some more of your experiences and thoughts thanks
