  1. At the title suggests really, im using Dunlop SP9000 tyres and even though its now getting to some warmer weather its still sliding all over the place. The geometry has been altered to tony's specs, he saw the results and said it was a good job, its on -40mm springs, cusco anti roll bars and yet it still seems to oversteer like hell. I do hit corners quite hard but it can just suddenly snatch out without warning. How are other people's experiences...?
  2. Fuel economy is crap for the performance - no matter how you drive the car, its always going to drink loads of fuel and you cant stop it... My old peugeot 406 sri turbo was getting on for 190bhp and used around the same amount of fuel - yet i was getting all that extra power, its not justified in the slightest, yet i cant find myself getting rid of the car. That must say something...?
  3. Sounds like a brake related issue to me, extremely worn pads and discs can give a wierd sort of droaning noise under heavy braking, i suppose the abs may be giving the feeling that the pedal is sinking? Check brake fluid level, the cap is screwed on tightly under the bonnet, pads and discs...
  4. Tell the seller that your going to be using the coilovers on a few show cars and that you want him to give you a few stickers... If he believes its being used for advertising the price may come down even more, it's worked for me in the past...!
  5. Yeah it will, but as far as im aware you'll need the correct shafts to go with it...
  6. Arent the RS200, AS200 and Altezza all badged with the actual model they are...?
  7. I read on another forum somewhere that apparently the shafts coming out of the diff on the is200 have 4 bolt holes whereas the altezza has 6...? Can anybody confirm this? Im basically just wanting a straight swap over and am wondering if there is anything extra involved...? Thanks.
  8. You'll get used to it - i've had to learn that you have to drive the car to the changes that happen as it warms up. Its part of the characteristics and yeah although it can be hard and annoying to get used to its what makes it your car!
  9. Changing the headunit isnt too hard - especially if you know how to use a voltmeter. I chopped all my cables but kept the old plugs, some people buy harnesses... The thing with chopping the cables is that i had to manually find which were the speakers again - so instead of using the inbuilt amp i've just gone directly from the headunit to the speakers in terms of connectivity, i believe it sounds much clearer this way. I've only changed the rear speakers to the infinity reference 6x9's, and added a kicker solabarick 12" sub and a kenwood amp. You'd be surprised how well it sounds - you dont need any more unless you dont like your eardrums! So, either get a harness - which is easy to wire up, or if your confident chop and use a voltmeter - easy as pie!
  10. Yeah i was travelling a fair distance and was sitting at motorway speeds most of the way back and it really has made the car feel so much nicer - i swear the steering is more responsive though, just a slight turn of the wheel and the cars wanting to move across the road.
  11. Well i fitted the anti roll bars today and oh my, what a difference! I cant honestly say that i've noticed any affect in the general luxury comfort that is the car's personality. However, chuck it into a corner and you can feel the difference. I have noticed that braking is a lot more stable at all speeds, during accelerating it has kept the back end from bouncing as much as it used to and the car feels a little more weighted to the ground. Its only been today that they have been on but i took 2 sharp 90° corners on my road at least 10mph faster than i would of normally been able to and it feels so safe to do it. I'd recommend them to anybody...
  12. Don't forget, depending on the age of your car, you might need some new drop links because they could be seized :winky: The bonus about receiving the set of those anti roll bars second hand was that the guy has actually left all the ball joints and even the mounting brackets already attached - i guess he was ripping the car to bits or completely overhauling? Am i right in thinking the drop links would of been undone if the suspension was taken off? I/My cousin put lowering springs on the car about 6 months ago and i remember him copper slipping all the nuts that came off before they went back on...
  13. Ah, i was watching that on ebay, but decided not to go for it cos the ebayer had no feedback. Didn't want to take the risk lol I understand the concern on that but at the end of the day we're protected by the laws behind paypal and ebay so i tend to try and not worry about those sorts of things. In the end the guy turned out to be a sound chap, excellent communication, tracking number provided, well packaged and was shipped from ireland to the uk in 4 days i think it was. Good service! Just 2 days now until i can use my cousins ramp to get the ARB's on and i shall be giving it a thorough spanking on the way home!
  14. I couldnt see how that would affect the car unless the battery was left to charge continuously without any cut off point - which may have resulted in a blown capacitor or resistor etc somewhere along the lines, which is sending some crazy signals over the place. That sounds like quite a wierd problem.
  15. I've changed mine and all i did was unplug, replace, plug in - no problems for me!
  16. Is there any way of avoiding the gap-like bit at the top that isnt illuminated? I know a headlight brow would cover it but i think they look awful...
  17. I feel i was lucky enough to get a set of Cusco ones second hand off ebay for £165 with all bushes... Im going to be putting them on this weekend so i shall report back and let you know how they feel, it may help with you making your choice...?
  18. my mate bought some from him just about a month ago for his bmw 330i - no problems so far and a lovely colour to them... By the way those sidelight bulbs are poo, they dont really even give much of a blue colour - if you want anything close to blue for the sidelights go for LED but as they're part of the deal its a good price and handy to have spares in emergency. http://www.car-mod-shop.co.uk/cms-plazma-x...2c1f88545b9276d - these are meant to be good too....
  19. out of interest are you keeping the stock head unit...?
  20. the hks is as the product name says 'silent' - pretty much the same sound as the stock exhaust so if you want any sort of noise characteristics then take that off your list...
  21. i have the trust/greddy one - to be honest it doesnt really sound much different lower down in the revs, its a little bit roarier - excuse my analogy but you cant really hear it too well from inside the car due to how well the car is sound proofed. However once it hits 6k revs it does make a bit of a screamer noise which i love - its best going down a narrow street with houses each side or in a tunnel then you can really hear the grunt. If you get an exhaust though you will loose the sound of the induction but it will add to the noise that the exhaust gives - the two work together pretty well...
  22. Go have a look on a peugeot owners forum, or renault - compare the results and you will see... :)
  23. Im with tesco, im 20 years old, 3 years no claims and fully comp under my own policy - works out just under £700 a year. Get a quote through tescos online and all should be fine - pending you have no convictions...
  24. Thanks a lot mateys :) Your nice comments motivates me even more. Thanks :) I'm not afraid people will know it's a fibreglass replica. I doubt many people in this country know what a Legana bumper is anyway :P The problem is I know it's a replica. It sounds silly, but it just doesn't feel right. ___________________________________________________________ Anyway... guess what arrived the other day, from California :) Fits like a glove. It took 10 minutes to replace my standard bonnet. I just test fitted it, though. Next week I will get it to the paint shop :) Noooooo! I'd say put the standard bonnet back on - it looked so much cleaner and tidier before, but thats my opinion...
