  1. If you're pulling away and going up hills (or whatever) in snow, don't you drive more slowly/gently ? Errrm im assuming you dont want to hear my answer... The way i see it is - if everybody is in the slow lane - it leaves the other lane open for me :)
  2. In snow you should be driving more gently anyway, I don't understand why you'd just put your foot down harder so as to accelerate the same as if you were in the dry. I think snow mode is pretty useful personally, blunts the throttle response and thereby helps when things are slippery. Sorry i didnt make that too clear - i mean from pulling away and going up hills etc...
  3. I've found that with snow mode on you have to have your foot down more because of the reduced acceleration etc and this gets the wheels spinning more than if it was off...? I think the whole snow mode thing is extremely basic and does very little to be honest but the traction control although basic as it is does do its job quite alright - its saved me a couple of times from the unexpected slide.
  4. i was once told that toyota or lexus dealers may be able to supply parts for toyota/lexus cars but that might have been wrong, could always try B&Q...... Did anybody ever tell you how witty and clever you are? No...? Hmmm i wonder why...
  5. Sweet, thats some spot on responses and timing, well done! Now i feel cheeky asking if you know how much they are...? Thanking you....!
  6. As the title suggests really. I seem to be unable to find anywhere to buy them but have found topics about people fitting them, where are you all getting these from...?! Please :) Cheers.
  7. I agree that does sound a little silly but then again even in a corsa he's probably repping more grip than us :(
  8. Is there any way of telling if the timing belt and water pump have been changed? I've got full service history up to 80k so far but have no history or receipts of any work done - just the stamps in the book. Cheers.
  9. They'd just laugh at you if you sent a complaint letter as they're summer tyres - here's info on the SP9000 blurb: The guys in Europe tend to have more snow and have a set of summer tyres and a set of winter tyres and use them accordingly whereas over here everyone pretty much just has summer tyres fitted and that's where half the problems come from! Ah thats nice of you to point that out - they should of also written not to use them in the summer conditions either. I've had these tyres on since June and they never gripped back then even in the summer weather. Luckily i've lost interest with these tyres now so i've been on a mission to ruin them and im pretty much at the markers on the back now so they'll be coming off and being replaced sharply! Im not rich so i need a cheap(ish) tyre. The falkens seem to have good reviews on here - and i personally like the federal tyres as i've used them on previous cars but is there any other suggestions...? Cheers.
  10. nah there brand new dunlop tyres, just crap car in snow. aqnd no snow mode doesnt help, can feel its reduced the rev's but not enough to help Take the tyres off and just go on the rims - you'll probably get more grip. I've got the SP9000's and im finding it hard to not to write a complaint letter to Dunlop, they are the most utterly useless set of tyres ever made. Luckily im not too bad at having the back end out because i like playing with it but, even driving normal on slightly damn road at reasonable speeds the back swings wide. Its surprised friends who have been in the car too and seeing at how low a speed it happens at.
  11. Im guessing you have the option to turn that off? That would annoy the hell out of me having a little fairground in my clusters...
  12. I had mine done 2 saturday's ago at SCA Race and Rally in Norwich to the WIM specs and it's made a massive improvement. I still cant wait to get the Dunlop SP9000's off because they are rubbish but even still, the handling is now something else. £80 for them to do it which took about 3 hours and everybodies happy :) Thanks to Tony for his help.
  13. In general i've come to realise the IS200 is much better at higher speeds than slow. When you have the space to clearly pull through the gears at your own pace its lovely, and even the feeling as you rise up to 90mph in 5th gear and the VVTI kicks in, it starts pulling again more than most other cars would in 3rd! and being that japanese bred engine it does love to scream if you get a bit viscous with it. However, i find it difficult round town, its not the easiest car to constantly be starting and stopping in traffic - you'll have to train your feet to be very smooth and accurate. Its more than enough power, it'll just take you a little while to realise it - then by this point, you'll start appreciating the other qualities of the car.
  14. I've changed plugs, air filter, battery (to a higher cranking amps prestige one) and ran some fuel system cleaner through and am still having the problem!
  15. I was wondering what i could do about the aftermath of putting the induction on, and it never occured to me that i should just paint it... So with a little inspiration i got the detailing brush out and some satin black cylinder paint
  16. Im assuming you've tried turning the engine on and pumping the brake pedal a few times after putting the disc and pads on? Just thinking that the pads could be a little tight against the disc if they havent been wound back far enough...? That's about all im good for :D
  17. did you apply the paint to the engine by spray or brush? Im intrigued...
  18. I dont think at the end of the day that it can come down to whichever car is better. You need to personally identify the qualities in each one that satisfy you, and make your own decision from there. It's not like either of them are crap...
  19. Hmmm the front of that IS200 looks the absolute s*x! Are they 8000k HID's in the main lamps and the fogs...? Also i cant quite tell if you have halo's in there...?
  20. Hmm interesting suggestions on the wheels - to be honest though i completely despise wheels with a different colour lip to them - especially black wheels with polished lips! RARGH THE ANGER! - sorry its just a pet hate kind of thing... I might give the wheels a go in a bluey sort of colour - at the end of the day if i dont like the colour i can just start again :D
  21. Wohay, constructive comments! It's a go then! It's not going to be done until the new year because my cousin hasnt got much spare time at the moment but as soon as its done i'll get the pictures up, stage-by-stage of course. Thanks, Stu.
  22. Do you not have a spare? My lexus came with 3 keys...
  23. Ooooo so i am... or is it that you have chosen the same colour as me?! :winky: I've seen a few variations around before on different cars and i think it will set the 200 off lovely with its long contoured lines down the body. I just need to get the right amount of pearl blue on after the white otherwise i can end up with the wrong effect. I like the colour of the aston in that post/link but i was aiming for the lines of the car to give off an almost plasma blue glowing effect, and its hard to find examples on computer due to graphics capabilities etc. i got my inspiration from below...
  24. I know what you mean about the colour of the wheels, i didnt intend for them to come out that colour but my colour capabilities of this computer wouldnt match what i was aiming for. The above is the colour i was hoping for on the wheels (image of Ellz's car)
