  1. The sport is the only model to have the LSD, if you have a sport, then you have it :) Dont think there's any markings from the outside that will tell you. You should be able to tell if you give it a bit of a slide about (off a public road!!) If you cant tell, then it probably wouldnt matter whether you have or not...
  2. Yes the is200 does give off mega amounts of heat in comparison to some other cars and this also leads us to this issue with the air intake and its positioning. I have noticed that in the recent hot weather the car has considerably lost its responsiveness and having the induction pipe directly over the engine was never a good idea in any aspects! They do tick like a bugger when you turn them off and this is perfectly normal. I personally wouldnt worry about the heat from the car but if your quite interested in its life and getting the best performance out of it i would work towards trying to force some nice cold air into the engine, whether that be induction, custom ram air or super/turbo charging.
  3. Im quite chuffed with the keys, luckily i have 3 keys with the car but the main set went through the washing machine for an entire wash and is still working perfectly and smelling Lenor fresh!
  4. the response was aimed more at Locky who's location says East England. Kings Lynn is also in norfolk not london :)
  5. I have a cousin in kings lynn going by the name of 'DV8 Customs' photo's of work can be found on his facebook profile - much better prices than that of the above.
  6. Well my IS200 although the best car i have ever driven is annoying me more and more due to its extremely poor performance, for the amount of fuel it drinks the power output is not in the slightest bit justified. So the search for a new car has begun, have been looking at chasers, soarers and the like but prices of the cars, availability and insurance limit me with these. I used confused.com to get a quote on N/A supra and it reported back to me at around the £900 - £1000 mark. I used the same details on an L reg supra twin turbo, by its number plate, also marked on the details as a japanese import and the insurance worked out at £776 a year?! Thats only £76 more than i pay now! Surely that cant be right? Of course, im not going to complain about it, i just couldnt understand how double the power, an extra litre, 2 turbos and 6 insurance groups up than mine and for only £76! So... anybody ever owned a supra? Anything to look out for? I guess they are just as reliable if not more so than the IS200? Cheers, Stu.
  7. As far as i can remember you can go up to 2 sizes over and 2 sizes under so yes, it should be ok.
  8. I saw a 220 today with these wheels on I've also seen a few 250's with them on, but where am i likely to find them second hand? Do they have a specific name like the Hoshi's etc...? Cheers for any help.
  9. My old pug 406 did this, it got more and more predominant and the electric windows started playing up. A few weeks later the heater matrix blew its load all over the passenger footwell and got into the electric window system thingy. Not saying that the japanese hardnut is anything like the weasly little peugeot - but have a look around for any damp patches in the footwells and up behind the headunit area. Presuming the matrix is in that area...? If you find nothing, then put your mind at rest against it being the matrix. :)
  10. 21, 3 years no claims just under £700 a year fully comp - Tesco's online...
  11. Anybody have one available...? Cheers, Stu.
  12. Found what exactly...? :) I think i know the one you mean, £90? As far as i can see it doesnt seem like a direct replacement if you compare the shape and length of the original one compared to the one on there, they seem a bit different. Best is to confirm with the seller, keep a copy - then if anything goes wrong you've got something to go back on...
  13. removal guide ^ above is a word document, save target as and scan for viruses (so im not held responsible for anything!) Its for an is200, but i cant see there being any difference in the is300. You have to remove the AC unit to get to the stereo, once this is out its just a matter of common sense and a few screws, voila...
  14. Apart from your spoiler (just not to my taste) the rest of the styling is spot on! Good work!
  15. Out of every single set of wheels shown i only like the TTE chicanes, every other set looks pretty dire in my opinion... Sorry if i've hurt anybody's feelings, im just extremely picky when it comes to shoes!
  16. I did exactly the same thing and was surprised how well it worked, all the condensation went away, however by the time i had driven about 4 miles to my mates house, in the broad sunny day time it had steamed back up again! I'll be opening them up adding some halos and de-tangoing them soon...
  17. Yeah im 88k now and the shocks do feel a bit bouncy but nothing like this has been... The car went into the garage today and they checked all the ball joints, ARB's and anything steering related and could find nothing - the mechanic test drove it and said how bad it felt, almost as if the car was articulated... Users may have seen my post about the rear end stepping out all the time? Well the Dunlop's that i was on were pretty worn and getting old so i went for some federals... I know its a cheap tyre but i've used them on my old 406 sri turbo, my uncles had them on his prelude and my other uncle on his merc 230 kompressor which none of us had a single problem with... Oh how they messed up the handling on the IS200... I have a set of 16" wheels spare so i switched just the rears over, with the old bridgestone turanza or turenza...? tyres and its gone back to normal! I never took into consideration that it could of been my tyres that i just had put on - i didnt notice this for a few days because i hadnt been anywhere to get up to the speed where it started to feel bad - and well, i've never had an issue like this with tyres. Is it because i put 225 on the back instead of the original 215? or just because they are wrong for the car...?
  18. I see, i've done the same then - it was last year that i stuck the springs on... I swear im trying to save for coilovers, just keep getting swayed away... What coilovers do you have? I had KW on my old car and they were the nuts but i havent got that sort of money these days...
  19. Coming up for their 9th birthday... X plate...
  20. Im back on to the subject of handling again, i have to be honest this car is really starting to annoy me the more i drive it. I was in my mates standard vectra the other day and can honestly say it feels much more in touch with the road than my car does and i cant work out why... -40mm springs, cusco ARB's, 225/45/17 on the back and 215/45/17 on the front, also has been set to WIM specs which Tony confirmed in private messages was a good job. I find at lower speeds the car is absolutely fine, but coming up for 80mph or anything over the car seems to be all over the place. We have pretty terrible roads around this area and i live out towards the country so i have the sort of roads that fit the surroundings. It just seems, well, actually quite dodgy to be honest - i cant say i feel particularly safe in it anyway... Passed the MOT only January so all the ball joints must be ok, no funny knocking noises or anything just incredibally poor handling at higher speeds. It almost feels as if at around 80 someone has lifted the car off the ground a few feet and taken all the air out of my front tyres (if you can accept my explanation) I feel as if the front of the car isnt connected to the back, if you can understand what i mean - it seems like the front of the car turns, then the back follows a bit later, its so hard to describe what i mean... Anybody else have anything similar...? Any suggestions...? Im scared! My final results from my alignment are below:
  21. I would have to agree, its just the lack of power and fuel consumption that let this otherwise perfect car down! Supercharger is on the list...
  22. Did you install the headunit or someone like halfrauds...? Im going to be pretty much certain that its down to the wiring of the headunit. As far as im aware there are wires that go to the clock from the headunit and it seems that the one for illumniation has got a constant feed going to it. Unfortunately, it means out comes the headunit and starting again. The only wires you need for the headunit to power up are, the constant +12v feed, a ground and the accessory +12v feed. If you see other wires attached along the lines somewhere they can simply come out. I've only got the above 3 connected for my power source and i can assure you everything else on the car works exactly how it should. There is a black cable somewhere thats the power lead for the antenna, but i never connected this because i hate the radio...
  23. If you read the entire of what alan has said you will see that the problem was down to the wheel spiggots...
  24. I had superglue all down my door where in a drunken mess i tried to super glue my door strip back on - this was 2 previous cars ago by the way! The loctite (i think it was) superglue remover available from halfrauds is a gel type substance, apply, leave for a few mins and gently wipe away. I was surprised how well it works, it turns the glue all jelly like and just peels away without damaging the paint! Brilliant stuff...!
  25. Tony: Thats the results i was left with. The tyres are only 215, which im now going to be upgrading to 225 to see if that makes a bit of difference. sometimes it's been even in slow conditions with just a little bit of acceleration out of a roundabout and it starts to give - drain covers make the car go nuts and i find myself just generally having to be more careful. Its better with the ARB's on then it used to be, im running 35psi as i have been told is the recommended pressure. It seems like the back end of the car is too light - if i have passengers in the rear of the car it feels so much more planted and less inclined to step out. Other than adding more subs to the boot is there anyway of keeping the back end down? Im used to hitting corners and roundabouts fast, my old pug 406 sri turbo was on KW variants and team dynamics monza r's at 18 x 8 and i could honesty throw that thing so much harder and faster into a corner without any drama, it just surprises me how little grip the rear end of this car really has, and corners are my thing seeing as the is200 has nowhere near enough power to make straight roads any fun! Im going to give the tyres a change and see what happens then... If that fails - might consider a different car!
