Hi all,
I finally bought myself an IS200 yesterday, I'm really pleased with it but it has a few little problems I need to iron out.
Keyfob
It came with only 1 key, and a fairly battered and bruised one at that. I've got my eyes on a new key and have read the procedure for reprogramming it, wish me luck with that!P1349 error code
The EML was on and the TRC light flashing, I've had the code read (obviously) and the P1349 error came up. The guy at the garage just reset the lights and didn't seem to know a great deal about it and said I'd have to just wait until the problem worsens, I don't really fancy that. The car runs absolutely great, definitely no misfire so I'm thinking/hoping it's a blocked filter or something. Anyone had experience with this and manage to solve it?OEM stereo problem, but not the dreaded err3!
When I press 'load' it does a bit of whirring and a few small clicks then goes back to the radio. I've tried hitting the side but strangely it had no effect. I had a quick look at how to remove the unit, but it don't half look involved! Is there anything else I can try before I try taking the thing out?Dipping at the rear
This is by far the most annoying thing. When I put my foot down the car seems to dip to one side at the rear so when I let off I almost need to correct he steering a little. I'm guessing one of the rear dampers has had it, anyone got any other ideas?Front windows
How do I remove the front door cards? There seems to be a bit of play when opening closing the window, obviously nothing major but still an annoyance.Other than that it's fantastic! Mechanically it seems great, no notchiness in the gearbox and the clutch doesn't judder... too much. Cosmetically it's in fairly average condition, no dings or dents but the paintwork is chipped in a few places. I'm passed the days of modding cars, but I do plan to fit a sport grill soon so maybe not quite passed it yet. I did plan on lowering it 20mm or so, but I think it sits just right.
And you still bought it!!
Hope you got it cheap!

I,v had the Error3 before, took it out stripped it, still working fine 2years on!
I,v even bought an Error3 for less than a £10 to fix, so that if it goes again i can just replace with the bought one and fix mine at my leisure!
Saying that it throws up Error1 a few times (not able to read disk!), but i just turn it off then back on and its fine!

Hi mate and welcome, not a clue about your radio prob, but have you tried the button on the end of the wiper stalk? Took me a while before i found out how to work the washers!
If you,ve tried that and its full of fluid and your getting the sound from the pump but no water you may have an air lock?
Hope this helps.

Error1 on your cd player means that the laser needs cleaning!
Take it out and clean with a cotton bud dipped in meths.

If you want me to get you the same allen bolts and washers as iv fitted drop me a pm with you phone number and we'll go from there?

Heres what mine look like,
They do look alot brighter in the dark...
Heres what i bought for the job, Clicky.

Nothing wrong mate, they do go back in on their own...

Heres a pic of my bay, had the same problem with rusty boltheads so i started to replace them with s/steel allen key domed heads and washers.
Since this photo was taken i'v replaced almost all the bolts this way, plus painted the rad brackets and moved the horns to below the grill.

This is how i fix my cd error1, i just switch it off then on again!

Hi guys, whilst flicking through my cd collection i found 2 old cd's that i had in my 306 S16 Peugeot when it had a multi amp setup with some big speakers!
Any ways, these cd's were ment to help setup and test your ICE installs, they maybe out dated now but about 7 years ago i was selling these at cruise's for a few ££ each!! So i,v ripped them @ 320kbps for quality and up-loaded them for you to download for free if you want...
The links are to an uploading site, just copy and paste links into addy bar and wait 60secs before you can download as a free user, or if your a rapidshare prem acc holder, you get them much much quicker...

Er if you have a stnd headunit in an is200 they dont play mp3's...
Prob solved..

To remove the whole unit, first run some masking tape down both sides of the dash where the unit sits to stop any scratching of the plastic, then get your nails under the windscreen end of the top dashtray and pry it out to reveal 2 10mm bolts, then with both hands flat side them under the heated seats switch panel push up to give grip and slide it out, un-clip all the switches to remove it revealing 2 more bolts, undo all 4 bolts then slowly up out the unit till you can get to the connections at the rear, un-clip them all and your free...

At the moment yes i can just by switching it off then on again, but at first i had to remove it and clean it a few times.
Dont know why now i can just turn it off n on, but it works ok?
Like i said you need to remove it to clean the cd lens...

I bought just the anti rattle plate from Lexus via a Toyota dealer for £5.90...

Code error 1 is cd cannot be read!
Is it a top loading cd or bottom loader?
If its a top loader, remove the headunit with air con controls, part the two by removing side plates, remove the 2 screws that hold the top cover of the headunit on and you will see your cd's.
Go back to the car and conect the headunit back up and switch on, watch for the cd lens to come into view then unplug it so you can get access to it, using a ear bud and some cleaner (glasses cleaner/cd cleaner/cheap after shave) clean the lens and then refit top lid/ a/c controls side plates and back into the car.
Have done this a few times to mine, now when i get the error 1 message i just turn off the headunit and back on and it works!!
Hope this helps...

Ok, when you tried to wash the headlights did you have them switched on? as they only work when on!
If you answered yes to that they try to lift them up, if you hear the noise of water being sucked/moved then you could have had an air block!
Hope these both help....

Or a cheaper option would be to fit an after market alarm to your car, that way if they do match your key to your car then they may only be able to get in the car but not drive it away?
-
I,v got one of these had it for about 18 months, got two at the time, recently had to swap cases as the key/blade wouldnt stay in the closed position!
As to filing the blade to a mark, i just got it cut and it works a treat.....
There's a newer style out now new style, not too sure i like this over the older one!

When i moved my old horns from behind the grill into the bin!I fitted a set of these Hootaz, just cut the end plugs off to fit spade connectors and then moved them down behind the bumper.
Hope this helps.....

Test that you have earthed them properly to the car!!!

Thanks, just got two flip fobs off eBay (about £20) took them to my local key cutters with one of the orig keys, then swapped the insides into the flip fob and all sorted.
Only cost about £3 to get the two keys cut, had them now for about 18 months and need to replace them as the flip is wearing and they don't always stay shut.
Here's a link, not the sameas what i have, looks like a new style which i quite like....

Hate a pocket full of keys.

Oh, ok I think there was a green cable spare and I had no idea what to do with it so I just left it. Stereo worked so I thought it would be ok.
I guess I have to wire this cable to the 'earth''. Would that just be the chassis of the car? If not then what have other people done?
Many thanks
Dan
Not really, the earth from the back of the headunit will be just as good.....
-
Ok, when fitting dvd headunits into car's you have to fool it into thinking that the handbrake is on so that the dvd/video will play as it thinks your parked up!!
Re-read the install manual and there will be a wire that say that this must be wired to the handbrake!
So just wire it to an earth fixing that should sort it out.
How Do Is200 Head Light Washers Work?

If the pipe was off the washer, make sure you dont have an air lock!
Gently lift each washer jet up from the bumper, you my get a gurgle sound, this is water been drawn back into the pipes, do both sides.
Had this prob after i had my front bumper painted, and they had to take the jets off.
Hope this helps.
