  1. The ship my car is on is now in the Suez Canal heading for Valencia where it's due next Friday. It seems to be on schedule.
  2. In my case and based on my understanding of what others have said "Left the factory" usually means it's on board the ship. If you contact the dealer they should be able to get from Lexus both confirmation of this and the name of the ship your car is on. Mine is on: https://www.vesselfinder.com/vessels/details/9327748 and it's position can be checked on websites such as: https://www.marinetraffic.com
  3. You've had a long wait, even longer than my 9-10 months. Now on it's way from Singapore to As Suways Suez Port, Egypt due to arrive there at 21:00 on 23rd June.
  4. @Forwhatitisworth Looks really nice Alan. My black interior is going to look very dull in comparison.
  5. Hi Alan, You were lucky to get yours so quickly. I think there's something in the Takumi spec which causes longer delivery times. But as they say and which hopefully will prove to be true for me, all good things are waiting for! Reassuring to know that they did a great job fitting your front and rear dashcams.
  6. I think the light coloured headlining only comes with cream seats. The black headlining isn't so oppressive if you have a sunroof although that does reduce the headroom a little. There are always compromises to contend with.
  7. A couple of friends have Yaris and one is a Cross - very impressive cars. It's going to be interesting to see the LBX. But based on the info that's been published I'm still happy with my UX choice. Hopefully the significant premium price will be rewarded by the same levels of reliability and customer service that I enjoyed previously with Lexus. My current Mercedes has been the most unreliable car I've had since the 1960s! Also the two nearest main dealers are arogant and far less knowledgeable than a local independent when it comes to diagnosing and fixing problems. However, the Mercedes breakdown service is excellent- it needs to be!! Thanks for the point you make about dealer fitment of dashcams.
  8. Thanks for that info Bill. Would be good to get mine a week or two sooner. Are you happy with the dashcam and their fitting of it? I've never had a dashcam so will be interesting to have another gadget to play with!
  9. Hi I ordered a UX Takumi on 20/10/22 with an estimated delivery date of 30/9/23. Through to 16/5/23 the "My Lexus Build Tracking" web page had the status as "Order in Progress". Had an email on 16/5/23 saying "We're building your Lexus UX". 6/6/23 email: "Your Lexus is now complete". Then, having asked for the name of the ship which is carrying my car, I can now track: https://www.vesselfinder.com/vessels/details/9327748 using: https://www.marinetraffic.com When I last checked a couple of days ago it was south of Taiwan on it's way to it's first port of call, Singapore. Not sure if it then has to call at another port but it's due to arrive at Portbury, Bristol on 13th July. Something to keep me amused for the next few weeks!!! After Portbury a lot of Toyota and Lexus cars go to Derby (the Toyota factory) then on to the dealer. This can take another 2-3 weeks so guess I'll get mine end of July or early August. I've ordered the Lexus front and rear dashcam option. Not sure whether these will be fitted at Derby or the dealer but I guess that could add a day or two to the timescales. Thought this might be of interest to anyone wanting to monitor the status of a UX they've ordered.
  10. Having had the frustration and inconvenience of waiting for the Mercedes breakdown service and of the now constant feeling of uncertainty of whether I'll reach my destination I have to disagree!! Can't wait for my new Lexus to arrive and to once again have a car I can rely upon to consistently perform the basic function of getting from A to B. I agree and am pleased to see that competition in the EV market is hotting up. At present there isn't an EV that meets my criteria but I'm hoping that there will be when the time comes for my next car purchase.
  11. I ordered my UX Takumi last October and the paperwork gave 30/9/23 as the expected delivery date. Because at least one person on this forum had belatedly discovered their order had been lost in the system I've been checking with the salesman once a month. My January update stated my car would go into production in March for an expected delivery in May but now it's estimated to go into production in May for likely delivery in July. It seems Takumis are still affected by shortages of certain components. I'm guessing it could either be the head up display or the 360 degree panoramic camera. I want both of these features as I find they're very useful on my current car but if I didn't I guess it might be possible to change the order to a lower spec for a quicker delivery. Like others have said I thought component shortages were becoming less of a problem because of the monthly production schedules published for the Toyota and Lexus plants: https://global.toyota/en/newsroom/corporate/38852100.html As they haven't published a plan for April I imagine all the plants are now back to working all shifts but presumably only producing limited numbers of higher spec cars. According to the proverb "patience is a virtue" it's a good quality to be able to tolerate something that takes a long time!!!
  12. I ordered my UX Takumi last October, the order paperwork has an expected delivery date of this September. Someone on this forum discovered their order had been lost in the system after many months of waiting and as a result he cancelled his order. Therefore, I've been emailing the salesman for an update every month. The latest was that my car is due to go into production this month with an expected delivery date of May. But at present the Lexus online customer portal is still showing my car is in the order processing stage. Last year the Toyota and Lexus factories weren't able to run all shifts due to component shortages and as a result delivery times increased. Component shortage problems are now easing so most of the factories are back to more normal working: https://global.toyota/en/newsroom/corporate/38852100.html
  13. I've read many posts that say the Dunlops are quieter. But another tyre that might be worth considering is the newer Bridgestone runflats which are fitted to the 2023 UX as these are also claimed to be quieter than the Bridgestones fitted on earlier UXs.
  14. In a similar vein, the Mercedes breakdown service is very good. Over the past few years I've had cause to call upon their services a number of times whereas during 31 years of Honda and Lexus car ownership covering 100,000s miles I never had any need to try their breakdown services 😊😊😊
  15. Sorry but there is plenty of new car reliability survey evidence to show the German manufacturers' cars are less reliable, especially MB. Here are just a few: https://www.whatcar.com/news/2022-what-car-reliability-survey-brands/n23418 https://www.kbb.com/car-news/consumer-reports-toyota-lexus-make-the-most-reliable-cars-mercedes-the-least/ https://www.fleeteurope.com/fr/connected/united-kingdom/analysis/peugeot-tops-real-life-reliability-tables?a=JMA06&t[0]=Peugeot&t[1]=Skoda&t[2]=Volvo&curl=1 https://www.warrantywise.co.uk/blog/warrantywise-data-german-car-brands-reliability
  16. They certainly would if they'd suffered the unreliability of an MB car and MB service like I have over the past few years. In the UK BMW and MB have snob appeal which helps them sell premium priced cars that at best only manage middle ranking in reliability surveys. In the USA the BMW and MB snob value is less significant and I believe it's one reason why Lexus, Honda and Acura have achieved much higher market shares than in the UK and Europe. Interestingly a friend who is a retired motorcycle dealer tells of the poor quality of the BMW bikes he sold vs those from Honda.
  17. An interesting article just posted on the Autocar website, I expect something similar or an extended version appears in the print publication out today. https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/business-car-sales/why-lexus-yet-break-uk-mainstream
  18. Hi Alex @81legend Sorry I can't answer your question but I remember seeing a photo showing a similar problem. One theory was that it had been caused by hand sanitiser. Unfortunately I can't find the post but I guess it was either on this forum or https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ux-models-2019-present-299/
  19. https://www.jdpower.com/cars/expert-reviews/2023-lexus-ux-review-update Details on the improvements over the previous infotainment and safety systems.
  20. Although I've only had test drives in the 2022 and 2023 UX250h my impression was that the newer Bridgestone RFTs fitted to 2023 model plus the suspension tweaks and increased body stiffness result in a comparatively quieter and more comfortable ride. As it seemed perfectly acceptable compared with my Merc C Class which is fitted with air suspension and "normal" Continental tyres I ordered a UX 250h Takumi. I am quite fussy about choosing cars as I tend to keep them for a out seven years and they have to be comfortable for my aging back to withstand occasional six hour drives.
  21. Hi Wendy @Weatherwax Many thanks for posting that info. I ordered my Takumi on 20/10/22 and delivery date on the paperwork is 30/9/23. However, I'm checking with the dealer each month and the latest suggested delivery date is July/August which would match your overall timescale.
  22. Back in the days when I used to mess around with my cars (Ford Anglias, Cortinas, etc) toe-in and camber alignment checks were done with wheels on the car and the car sitting, settled on the suspension. After any adjustment you had to roll the car and bounce the suspension to settle it before checking again. I was only checking the front wheel alignment because the cars I had back then didn't have independent rear suspension. But the four wheel alignment gauges I've seen more recently in tyre places also work with the wheels on the car. I wondered if Lexus have a different system but the only info I've found online all show alignment checks being done with the car on the ground with wheels on. Wheel balancing is done with the wheels off so maybe this is when they were rotated? Haven't got my UX yet, but with my current car (Merc C Class) the TPMS sensors are coded to the position of the wheels on the car so they wouldn't rotate the wheels when I asked. A bit of a pain because Mercs have a habit of wearing front tyres unevenly. Another reason why I'm really looking forward to getting back into the Lexus fold.
  23. An interesting video outlining Toyota's plans for EVs. Looks like 2025 and 2027 will be key dates for some significant improvements. The caption to the video says it will catapult Toyota to the top of the EV market but that will also depend upon what improvements other manufacturers will introduce.
  24. Reviving an old thread as I think this video presents some good info on newer runflats:
  25. https://global.toyota/en/newsroom/corporate/38299175.html From these Toyota production schedules for December it seems like component shortages might be less of a problem than in previous months. This video presents data for the full year. I wasn't really concentrating when I watched it but I confess to being somewhat confused by the analysis - I feel it'd have been better summarised with a couple of simple graphs showing planned vs actual vs normal production monthly volumes. Maybe I missed something.
