  1. Hi @Herbie I've never had a dash cam so this is all new to me and there are many products on the market. So please excuse my ignorance. But having read some reviews by the likes of Which and AutoExpress it seems Nexbase generally rate very highly whereas some others, including a few well known brands, pick up poor ratings. I guess then it's down to personal requirements. For me I think front and rear cameras are essential. It seems only three of the Nexbase range offer this facility. Next I know I couldn't be bothered with mounting and removing a dash cam every time I used the car. Unless I'm mistaken the 380GW would be more difficult for a thief to pinch than all the others which seem to have a magnetic mount. A shame because the 622GW has a better resolution although in the package with a rear camera it is more expensive than the 380GW. Why don't auto manufacturers include dash cams as an integral part of their cars in the same way as we now have come to expect built in sat nav, hands free phones, parking cameras and sensors?
  2. Hi @Herbie Thanks, that's interesting, which model dashcam are you comparing the 380GW with?
  3. @Hamish2015 I share those same concerns and feel it worth paying a little extra for that peace of mind. Also the Nexbase 380GW and it's rear camera fitted by Lexus is one aimed at the fleet market. Therefore I guess it's likely to be, or should be, more of a quality product than some aimed at the more cost conscious consumer.
  4. I think you're right @ColinBarber that it's the online configurator that's at fault.
  5. Interestingly the 350h with premium plus pack I selected in the UK Lexus online configurator only gave two interior trim colour options.
  6. I had a test drive in a Merc C Class plug in hybrid and it felt noticeably heavier and less pleasant to drive. As the NX 450h+ only has around a 10% weight penalty over the 350h hopefully the NX won't suffer so much. But it's the extra £7k+ on the price which I couldn't justify. Would be different if it were a company car purchase.
  7. My apologies Colin, I think you're correct re exterior colours but it does seem the USA get more interior trim options as well as greater flexibility in equipment options and a wider choice of engines. As the UK is a much smaller market I guess this is to be expected and it's certainly not just Lexus who offer a more restricted range in the UK.
  8. Hi all, You can now build a gen2 NX on the USA lexus.com website. The options and packages are very different to those we'll have in the UK and in the USA they get more choice of colour and interior trim. But it does give a feel for the appearance of the colour and trim options we will get. I believe a prototype gen2 NX was being taken around dealers and that in January cars should be available for test drives in the UK. Presumably the UK motoring magazines will soon be publishing details of test drives and dealers will be holding launch events.
  9. @Gorb Rotating tyres can be a problem with tyre pressure monitoring systems when the sensors are for specific wheel positions.
  10. I've read that some UX owners have found the Dunlop runflats to be much quieter than Bridgestones. Blackcircles.com gives noise and other data for most makes of tyre.
  11. Just had a chat with a guy at Lexus. Body colour wheel arches are only on F Sport and Takumi. He suggested February delivery could be possible but as usual I think that's subject to the particular spec you want and build slot availability. But unless my circumstances change I've now decided to wait until January before making a decision. I was set on a UX250H Takumi but I've just discovered the new Premium Plus NX350H appears to have all the features I want and it's within 10% of the UX250H Takumi price. I'm tempted to push the budget even further for the NX but I'm not sure my partner will agree because she prefers driving smaller cars. We need to test drive both. Demo NX cars should be readily available in January but a left hand drive prototype is already being taken around the country should anyone want to check it out sooner.
  12. Thanks @First_Lexus I guess five or six months is typically what we should expect in the current circumstances. Unless, of course, you get lucky and find something suitable in stock, but stock levels are much lower than normal and used car prices have shot up.
  13. Just noticed on the UK Lexus website that the configurator shows UX wheel arches in the selected body colour whereas photos in the overview section of the website still shows wheel arches in black. Does anyone know roughly how long delivery times are now for a factory order UX here in the UK? Are dealers actually able to quote reliable delivery times with the current problems of chip shortages and supply chain issues?
  14. https://mag.lexus.co.uk/lexus-releases-car-generated-mindfulness-music/ Lexus releases car generated mindfulness music. Not my taste in "music" but maybe I'm too old and it's aimed at a younger demographic.
  15. Thanks for posting the photos of your UX @cur666 Looks really good.
  16. Thanks @Richard1200 that's really good to know.
  17. Thanks @Ken R it's really good to know that the Lexus cream seats stand up well. I like the appearance of the cream leather but would also like to see the brown ochre interior of a UX. Hopefully when I'm in a position to get a UX at the end of this year/beginning of next the chip supply situation will have eased and factory order delivery times will be reasonable. If not, I may need to accept a stock car which at present would seem more likely to have cream seats.
  18. Thanks @Richard1200that confirms what I thought should be the case. My concern was raised by, for example, Lexus Ipswich who have a Takumi with what appears to be cream seats with a black headlining. But looking again I now think the seats are white ash which according to the price list would have a black headlining. White ash seats have a dark stripe across the backrest whereas cream seats don't. How do you find cream leather? Do they quickly get dirty and are they easy to clean? I often wear jeans and I wonder if the blue die would rub off on the seats. My last few cars have had black leather seats which hardly ever needed cleaning and I'm getting increasingly lazy! 19. Hi, I'm hoping to get a UX250H Takumi late this year or early next. I want a white headlining and according to https://lexus.turtl.co/story/13503803_lexus-ux-250h_price-list/page/4/1 the only two options are rich cream and ochre seats. But there are photos of Takumis with rich cream seats and black headlining. If I can't find a suitable car in stock and have to order a car, is it possible to specify the headlining colour or if you can only specify the seat colour can I be sure to get the headlining colour specified in the price list?
  20. Seems strange. I wonder what they say about winter tyres.
  21. Thanks Tel, really useful info as always. When the time comes I'll need to try both a UX Takumi and a UX F Sport with AVS. But as I need the Takumi for some options the F Sport with the Takumi option will be more expensive but, as I now keep cars for six years, I might just be able to justify the cost to my other half if she likes the UX. I think when I replaced the tyres on my IS250 it was with Michelins. They were noticeably quieter than the OEM Bridgestones, lasted really well and were perhaps a little more compliant. Can't remember too well as it was about 10 years ago.
  22. Thanks Paul that's reassuring and good to know.
  23. Tel, maybe it's still too early on a Monday morning for my brain to function but I've tried and failed to decipher the "ACP" acronym. Could you enlighten me please?
  24. I had a 2009 IS250 which was wonderful. On changing I tried the CT200 but the suspension/seat setup was much too hard and unforgiving for me and the poor UK roads. Even the IS300h I found uncomfortable so I ended up with a Mercedes C200 with the air suspension option. It's the most comfortable ride I've experienced this side of a Jaguar XJ6. But, and it's a big but, the Mercedes reliability and service I've experienced has been terrible compared with Lexus and Honda. Not since the early 1980s have I worried about whether a car would get me to my destination! Now I'd like something smaller and a little higher and the UX250h Takumi seems to hit the spot. Unfortunately I won't be able to get a test drive until late this year so won't know until then whether the suspension/seat setup will suit my aging back and hip. Most who have driven a UX find it comfortable so I'm hopeful it'll suit me even if I have to change the tyres to something more forgiving than run-flats. But I understand run-flat sidewalls aren't so stiff as they were and the UX 18" tyres are reasonably high profile.
