  1. Well tbh I'm kinda glad in one sense that I didnt jump them as the police later discovered they were armed with a large kitchen knife which they dropped as they jumped over the fence. If I had actually managed to grip one u never know which one had the knife and knowing scallies these days I think they woulda used it.
  2. After careful consideration and a lot of other opinions from garages, I've decided to try and get my car repaired but I'm getting confused with the parts that I need. At this moment in time I need: Front Bumper Bonnet O/S/F Wing O/S/F Headlight Although I thought that the slam panel could be pulled straight again coz its got a slight kink in it I've been told I need a new one but this is where I'm getting all confused. The main body shop which I've been in talks with now have said that I need the slam panel but he also asked if the one which I got a quote on came with chassis leg ends, and the reinforcer. When I rang up dewsbury auto salvage, they've said that the slam panel needs to be cut off the donor car and the chassis leg ends go up to near the suspension mounts so that would mean basically a complete front with the reinforcer as well whatever that is and it would cost me £200 but if I wanted just the slam panel then it would be around £100. Can someone please explain everything to me as I'm really confused. Does the bodyshop I've spoken to intend on chopping the chassis legs to make the job easier and fix new ones instead of sticking it on a jig?! Also, is a front panel and slam panel the same thing???
  3. Cheers everyone. Its good to be able to help out the neighbourhood at times. I'm from belle vue and although its right in the middle of longsight and gorton it hasnt been too bad for quite some time now. The area has seen its ups n downs like any area but this is the first robbery in quite some time I think. If only they had been slower getting away then my extendable wheel wrench would have come in so handy lol.
  4. Had quite an eventful day today...well only one event but what an event. I stopped a robbery! Was at home minding my own business when I thought I'd have a look out of the living room window. To my surprise I saw a couple of scallies acting suspisiously (sp?) outside the house opposite mine. Didnt think much of it at first but one was on a bike and then got off the bike and leant it up against a fence. After this they proceeded to go round the back of the house and I didnt see em for a min but nothing really clicked as I thought they were just jumping over the fence like I've seen people do before. After a min they came back onto the driveway but then round the back of the house again. Due to the viewing angle I couldnt see much but thought something didnt look right. Then to my suprise I saw the blinds move in the house and that did it for me, on went the trainers and off I went. Snook over to the house but as soon as I got round the back corner of the house they were off like a shot over the fence and I couldnt catch them. They somehow managed to open the window, I think with a crow bar and then got in the house and opened the patio. Think my timing was pretty good as I scared them off and nothing was taken. After a lengthy conversation with police and them searching round the area the commotion was finally over but I got a good description of them and so did another neighbour who saw them looking dodgy hanging around the area. Whats really ****** me off though is that how could they do such a thing and are scallies getting more n more stupid everyday, I mean, trying to rob a house during the daytime lmao. Its got me a bit worried about my cars though and dads car and of course our house. If they come back then I'll be waiting with a wheel wrench Some control really needs to be put on scallies. :tsktsk:
  5. Anyone got one? I've decided to continue repairing my car so I need parts again. Cheers Rehan
  6. Anyone know of any decent ones which wont charge an arm n a leg and be able to do jig work?
  7. Hi, After a lot of consideration I've decided that I'm gonna get a second opinion on the car and then make a decision from there if its worth repairing or not. Previously the total cost of repairs shouldnt have exceeded the £800 mark but now that I know that it'll need jigging coz of the kink in the O/S/F chassis leg and possibly the N/S/F leg needing attention as well I'm not sure how much the costs will increase. I'm hoping that it wont be much but I'll only keep it if I can get the car as mint as possible but with it being as cost effective as possible as well. The damage to the car currently stands at.... Bonnet Bumper O/S/F Headlight O/S/F Wing Possibly N/S/F Wing coz of a slight kink in it Possibly a slam panel but tbh I really do think it can be pulled. O/S/F chassis leg is kinked slightly so will need jigging but its not that far back and I've been told yesterday that it aint a big job to sort. N/S/F chassis leg I'm guessing may need a big of a jig as well. I'll try and get some pics up soon.
  8. May not need it mate. Cars up for sale unfortunatly :(
  9. To be honest as I'm a student I'd rather just sell the whole car as is as I dont have the time to break it or the technical knowhow of taking it apart lol. Sorry to dissappoint any of you but if anyone wants it then give me a shout. Btw, its only got 14k on the clock ;)
  10. As some of you may know I recently purchased a light damage IS200 and have been desperatly trying to source parts to repair it. Well my mechanic had a good look at it today and has advised me to sell it The car has had previous damage to it which hasnt been repaired to a high standard but the repairs were hidden well and its also got chassis damage so unfortunatly it isnt going to be affordable to me to repair it. Really gutted as it was a nice car with low mileage so I guess this probably makes me the person to own a lexus for the shortest period of time lol. Once I get rid of this one I'm not sure what I'll get but if I find another IS200 I'll be happy but I'll continue to be a part of the club even if I dont have one.
  11. I've been able to track down some parts for my car but I'm unsure on the prices and think I could still get a bit better price. I've been quoted... £175 for a bonnet (2nd hand) £100 for a wing (2nd hand) £75 for a headlight (2nd hand again) I've been told I can have a £25 discount for a cash payment if I buy all 3. What do people think?
  12. As per title...anyone got any spares knocking around? Cheers
  13. How about blueprint/adl discs and pads? I've heard that used together they make a good combination and are the closest to oem?
  14. Hi mate, If you could keep them aside for me then that would be very helpful as in the event that I cant get the key and have to get the nuts forcefully removed then I'll need new ones so will defo then grab them off you. The main problem I'm having at the moment is the nuts tbh as before the car goes to the garage to get repaired I'll need either a key or proper nuts on it as they may have to remove the front wheels for repairs.
  15. Cool...The max I've got out of my civic is 420 miles from a full tank which cost £47 so its not a large difference. Considering I do a lot of motorway mileage I think I'll be ok with that consumption lol. Btw is the auto geared more for motorways?
  16. Hi mate, I've been in touch with lexus manchester, bolton and stockport and all have said that they dont have the master keys for my style of locking nut as its the old style. I had a look round and have not got the card with the key number on it so have been told that a 17mm socket should be forced and I should be able to get them off. The type of nut thats on mine is a 3 peg version which has 3 holes in the nut and the key fits in these holes. Has anyone got this sort of key by any chance?
  17. As per the topic title, how many miles have people got out of a full tank?
  18. Mines a 52 SE so similar to yours mate, but an auto. When I first got interested in rwd cars I always loved S14's and would still love to own one but the only thing thats ever put me back is the running costs, insurance etc and depreciation cos they're nissans. How hard is it to get the tail out on the IS tho mate? Is it only in wet weather that its possible? Also, whats the traction control like on the IS? Is it good at doing its job and does it keep the tail in or not?
  19. As I'm new to the club and to lexus ownership just out of interest whats the handling of the IS200 like? I've driven one in the past but never drove one in a lively way. Can they be tail happy? Is there anything I should look out for? I'm new to rwd cars but have always wanted one so when my car gets on the road at least I'm prepared ;)
  20. I've got the box and have had a look, on the bottom of the box is a code and barcode so I'm guessing this is what I have to give to lexus for another key? the box is totally empty otherwise, no spare nuts or key. I've had a look around the car and not found anything but will have another look when I have a chance as going away for a week 2moro so will only be able to do further car stuff when I get back.
  21. I know this is in the wrong section but I cant post in there so mods please move accordingly. When I bought my car it didnt come with the original lexus spare wheel nuts and locking key, just an empty box lol. This has left me with the problem that when car is fixed and on the road, if I have a puncture and dont have the locking nut key then I'll be a bit stuck so if anyones got a spare one or can tell me where to get one then that would be extremely helpful. If you have the full set of nuts and key then thats even better. Are all IS200 locking keys the same btw? Cheers Rehan
  22. You got any pics of your lights now mate compared to standard ones?
  23. Ahh so looks like I'll have to upgrade to some nice cool blue looking bulbs for main beam and the hid's will do for dipped. I'm more of a honda man myself so still got a lot to learn plus my car is still off the road til I get it repaired. Thanks for the help tho mate
