  1. Welcome to the club. Lexus owners in the main look after their cars so there are some very good ones out there. It is worth spending the extra for full history and lower mileage. Mine is coming up 10 years old now with 64k on the clock and is still the best car I have ever owned and have no intention of changing anytime soon. Take it to a specialist when you get it to check it out and if you look after it, it will last for years. Good luck.
  2. Hi john, Thanks for the suggestions. I am currently running Eibach springs, roll bars and spacers which has turned it into a different car. I have Dunlop sport Maxx and would like to get some better tyres to go with it. I will look at the goodyears for sure. Cheers
  3. Hi, Sorry if this has been asked before, looking to replace all tyres on my IS200. I don't do many miles so longevity isn't really an issue and would like to put the best tyres for on the road performance on the car with price no object. I have been told that the new Continental Sport 5's would make a noticeable difference over my Dunlop Sport Maxx. Does anyone have a really good tyre that sticks to the road and has anyone put 225's on instead of 215's and has that made a difference? Thanks for you help
  4. Hi Seb, No issues with suspension at all front or back. I do have Eibach springs and roll bars so it corners nice and flat too, although I am going to Meister R coilovers in a couple of weeks so will let you know. My profile has before and after pictures with the spacers if that helps. Cheers
  5. Have you thought about spacers to fill the arches better? I have 15mm and 20 mm on the rears and it looks tons better.
  6. Hi Seb, I finally put spacers on my Lexus a couple of months ago and wished I had done it sooner. The picture shows how it looks now with standard 17's. They are 15mm on the front and 20mm on the rears. With hindsight I would have gone 25 or even 30 at the rear as it would take it. I went with Eibach as they give you longer bolts for security. Hope that helped Cheers
  7. Thanks Paul, I did look at them but by the time you have bought the top mounts they can get a bit expensive and the cheaper Tein's are not adjustable. Its a toss up between the BC's and the Meisterrs that the company who look after my Lexus say they use on a lot of their cars.
  8. Hi and thank you for the link. I have to admit I have never heard of this make, where are they made and how do they compare for price and performance and how hard are they?
  9. standard plugs are NGK Iridium, so not much to improve there. Biggest improvement I have found is using V Power fuel, it picks up better and just feels smoother. Never considered changing oil, it is due a service so is there improvement to be had by different oils?
  10. Hi All, after 10 years I am guessing my shocks are not performing to their optimum. Looking at replacing/upgrading but for the same ;price I can get a full coilover set. Have been looking at Tein Basis (non adjustable) and BC. Does anyone have experience of either or both? This is my daily driver and wont be used on a track so I am looking for a better ride without my teeth falling out! thanks for your help
  11. Has it sorted the problem and how did it feel?
  12. Hi Darren, I think thats one of those hard to answer questions as we all want different things from our cars. I have never been a spoiler, loud exhaust, after market wheels sort, preferring to enhance what is already there. I went for Eibach springs at about £150 as i have used them on other cars, and they do the job without lowering it too much or destroying the ride. I will admit I dont work on my car as that isn't my thing, but they are straightforward as far as I am aware. If you have more money then Tein or HKS coilovers would be the way to go, but thats over a grand and will change the comfort. Sadly to do anything meaningful to the performance you are looking at serious money for forced induction as things like exhausts and filters wont make much difference for the outlay. But for me I bought the car for its reliability, the fact it is different (I have only ever seen 1 other car in my colour and wheel combination in 5 years) and that I think it looks absolutely great. Once you have dropped it look at spacers as I love the way mine looks now and wish i had done that years ago. For about 200 quid you can fill the arches and improve the handling too. good luck
  13. Looks like a really good example. Have you thought of dropping it slightly to get rid of the gaps in the wheel arches? Mine has Eibach springs and spacers and looks like a different car, handles better but comfort is pretty much the same. I am sure you will enjoy the Lexus experience, I have had mine for 5 years now and have no intention of swapping it anytime soon, despite being 10 years old, the car still gets looks as I go by. Find a good independent garage to look after it and it will last for ages.
  14. Can I ask why you are selling it so soon, did you not get on with it?
  15. Can anyone give the real life driving benefits of adding an LSD to the car? Being rear wheel drive it should benefit greatly especially when pushing on.
  16. Hi, the centre caps on my 17" multispokes are looking a bit tired. Lexus want 100 quid for a set of 4, any ideas on where I can get a set cheaper?
  17. I am planning on keeping mine at least another 5 years, it is a 54 plate with only 63k and I do about 5k a year. The cost of fuel is only relative. Some people are happy paying £8.50 a day for a packet of cigarettes and others think nothing of spending £50 for a night out, so compared to the enjoyment I get driving my Lexus, 25 to the gallon is cheap!
  18. I currently have Dunlop sport maxx all round which are pretty good and not too pricey. My local tyre place who have never tried to rip me off in the past send tend to be honest reckon the new continental contact 5's are they way to so that's my next choice. Anyone tried going up to 225's on their 17's instead of the usual 215's?
  19. What size wheels did you go for and what size tyre?
  20. Hi, I put some spacers on last month and wish I had done it years ago. Mine is on standard multispokes 17's . I did 15mm at the front which is spot on but I went for 20's at the back which could probably take a bit more, with hindsight I would have put 30's on to properly fill the rear arches. I went for Eibach hub centric ones and they look great and have given it a bit more stability. It's early days for me so can't comment on problems but don't foresee any using a quality set.
  21. Have you thought about wheel spacers? Very pleased with the results of mine
  22. That was why i was looking at the Koni Street as they are softer than the sport or Bilsteins but a bit more than standard and not too expensive.
  23. do you know what make the system and decat are please?
