  1. Really like the look of the car above so am going to go for the same with Eibach spacers, will post pics when done
  2. You might want to think about changing your anti rolls, that was the best thing i did to mine. The Eibach springs helped but really noticed a difference when i added the Eibach roll bars front and back.
  3. Try Torque Developments, they have done a couple of them. Wont get much change out of 10 grand to do it properly but will be a very nice car.
  4. I would be interested to hear how the handling was affected and how much you paid for the kit? Cheers
  5. How much did you pay and where di you buy them from as I am thinking of doing the same? Any feedback on how it handles would be good too. Looks good though. cheers
  6. You cant really buy poor quality fuel in the UK.. I avoid supermarkets all the same though, my car runs smoother on BP, ESSO but i still wouldnt call supermarkets fuels poor quality at 95 RON. And cheap rubber is good for some ppl. when i used to have a battered old rover 200 at nearly 200k that was worth probably £300 of course ill buy budgets Understand your tyre choice but I was talking about a Lexus. Saw a Lexus 4x4 the other day with kids in the back and really cheap tyres on, I guess each to their own but I would always buy the best I could afford especially if I had kids in the back. On fuel I notice a real difference between 95ron supermarket fuel and Shell V power and as someone who enjoys driving its a price worth paying. Maybe the fuel filler issue is more about the fuel hose than the car though, I know people who gave all had problems at sainsburys but never at Shell.
  7. Ignoring tyre wear, if you just wanted to make it handle a little better what would you go for? If you did 10mm all round and went to 225 tyres would that help?
  8. Eibachs are the way to go, lower and progressive but almost the same ride. Add Eibach anti rolls and its like driving a different car. Still on standard shocks its a very nice drive.
  9. Never had the problem but know others have. Always use shell vpower in my 200, don't understand why people put cheap fuel or cheap tyres on something they rely on so much. Am sure some will say cost, but the average person "wastes" £50 a week on things they could live without, fags booze going out etc, just doesn't make sense to me.
  10. I would guess Lexus will want about a grand for 4 shocks and springs, so don't go there if you can help it. must be loads around but that price for what you have been offered is good. my shocks have done 58k and are fine. Go for it
  11. HoodRich how do the 225 tyres work and did you need spacers or any arch work? Mine is lowered 35mm on Eibachs but would like to go to 225s next time. As for 35mm or 40mm, that's approx 1/5th of an inch, so does it really matter?
  12. I hear the HKS hi power silent is the best for quality and sound without sounding like a boy racer! Mine has only done 58k so hopefully won't need one for a while.
  13. Agree with most above, I have had Eibachs on mine for the 4 years I had owned my Lexus and they work very well with standard shocks. Last year I added Eibach anti roll bars and it is like driving a different car. Still comfortable but goes round roundabouts like its on rails. Agree it gets through tyres but that's probably the way I drive it, by why modify it and drive like a pensioner, no wait I am a pensioner and I still love it!
  14. I only use Shell V power, if I use anything else it loses its responsiveness. Anyone who bought a Lexus IS 200 for its fuel consumption will be disappointed! I love the car and don't care and would never use anything but the best for it.
  15. Hi Stuart, Yes I did buy new about 200 for the springs and 400 for the roll bars plus fitting. Haven't seen any second hand, but for me well worth it as its such a more enjoyable drive and that's what cars are all about, driving them. I may well do a trip to chesham sometime but will be a day trip for me and can't spare the time for a few months. My car only has 57k on the clock and my mechanic says it looks like its hardly been driven so I will be keeping it for around another 5 years, so was worth the investment.
  16. Thanks Luke. With the added grip I get from the springs and roll bars I am happy to forgo the ultimate with less pressures in favour of the sharper responses and feel I get and I have adjusted to the way it handles now. Cheers
  17. Petay, as far as I am aware no SE models has LSD and only some sport models, but all the Altezza's do. I will definitely be puttin wider tyres and spacers on the back as recommended by another poster when the time come so but the springs and roll bars make a major difference. I know someone said they junked their Eibach roll bays in favour of whiteline ones but I can't find any, only Hotchkiss ones which are thicker.
  18. Luke what exact mods are you going to do engine wise and how much power do you hope to get? For me I always do the suspension first and power last, but that's just me.
  19. Strange that mine definitely feels better on harder pressures then. I have had them on those pressures for over a year now and it goes a lot better than before round bends and roundabouts I know well. But then we all drive differently.
  20. Mine is 8 1/2 years old with 57k on the clock and was serviced at 50k with new plugs and an oil change service at 55k. It does 0-60 in 8.5 all day long which is better that the book. It has been driven on vpower/optimax since I bought it on 39k and pulls like a train going up hills. I know that there are some better than others even at the same mileage but I happy with the way mine goes. I would like to get it dyno'd sometime just to see. Only engine mod I have is a k&n filter which does very little but make economic sense.
  21. Thanks Matt, maybe the LSD in the background is what keeps yours on the road. As others have said, you do need to drive the car differently in the wet no matter what suspension and tyres you are running. Having had a couple of Audi quattro's in the past I do have to remember the Lexus needs a bit more respect but I wouldn't swap it.
  22. Thanks John, I had looked at Koni dampers but at over £500 fitted and a much harder ride I have decided against it for now.
  23. Thanks for stating the obvious Luke. As I said before I was running 33 all round but specialists who know a lot more about tyres than you or I advised me different. As you said 33 is for up to 100 but as the Lexus will do more than that they recommend the pressures for over 100 which in my humble opinion has also improved the road holding no end so I am going to be guided by the experts.
  24. Stuart, if you can afford the Eibach roll bars, they are amazing and feel like it is a different car, if you match them with the springs you will enjoy the drive a whole lot more. And the Lexus looks such a lovely car too, i will take some pics and post them here cheers
