  1. I think I have heard somebody on one of the local Lexus forums had the same problem, and it was a problem in the heat regulator in the dashboard itself. Somehow it was not contacting or something and it was stuck on the low temperature. Possibly also worth checking ;)
  2. You are mad :) You can't beat ABS with manual skills for braking...
  3. Thanks! That explains everything. Did you get white leds for your brake lights for the back? Does it make a positive effect on the brigtness of the brake light? :) Also, are these all bulbs of the same type?
  4. How many would I need to swap them all? 6 of them? I would prefer to find them outside of the UK, like in China or something, as they should be cheaper coming directly from there.
  5. Phill, what kind of LEDs did you get? I will probably have to dismantle my licence number lights as one of them is falling off (probably broken holder or something) - could be wise to change the original lights at the same time for something more "bling bling" :D
  6. When does the VVT-i start to function right now in IS200?
  7. When i bought my car, the brakes were like this - you had to push the brake pedal deep to the bottom for the brakes to bite. In my case it was a problem with the front calipers - I think the piston got stuck and didn't apply the braking force to the front pads. And inside the car it felt also as if the brakes were not bleeded properly.
  8. Hi there, I have read on some other threads on this ofrum about Oxygen sensor spacers and wondering, if they are effective? I suppose here are people with performace de-cat exhausts installed, which should result in the same ECU error. How did you overcome that? Would this simple solution work on the IS200? Second part of the question - how many Oxygen sensors has the car got? I assume there are 3 of them - 2 pre-cat and 1 post-cat. Correct me, if I am wrong. I checked the scheme in the workshop manual, but not sure if I got it right. If so, I assume, that fitting a spacer on the post-cat oxygen sensor could cheat it into thinking that the emissions are fine? Thanks for your thoughts in advance, Jonas
  9. Well. I am trying to ask other guys, who may have already possibily solved that, because I get this error frm time to time and am wondering, if such a simple fix like a spacer could possibly solve it.
  10. Would an O2 spacer solve an ECU error related to low catalyst system efficiency on IS200? If so, which of the spacers should I get, or are they all fine? http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=oxygen%20...tpos=&gbr=1 Thanks!
  11. It would be interesting, if the author of the thread would add a poll option to see the bare statistics ;)
  12. I think these have been fitted in our country quite for a while now and, to my knowledge, it should be an obligatory part of LPG system. It is called a "LPG vaporizer/reducer". "Reducer Vaporize the LPG allowing a regular gas flow at every engine request." (probably the temperature taken from the coolant makes the process easier. also, the car won't switch from petrol to LPG untill coolant temperature reaches ~25 C).
  13. because of weak filtering abilities of the K&N filter possibly :)
  14. Well it sometimes happens here. Dunno who does it more often - the resellers of the cars or poor garages, but I think it could happen in both cases. They simply open the current catalytic converter (cut one of its walls), take the inside material (all these expensive metals inside, maybe worth like 40-50 quid) and weld the converter back. Don't ask me why :) I thought it was only like this in the past, but it seems it still happens. How much could a spare catalytic converter cost? I am sure new ones cost lots of money.
  15. Probably you are right - we should look for some failure in our cars first of all. Such fuel consumptions are much bigger than they should be. P.S. I am getting from time to time a error code P0420 (Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1). It seems that some local mechanics have stolen the inside materials from the cat from the previous car owner. Could it affect MPG?
  16. I think it must be R. Anyway, aren't allowed to drive any faster than 110 km/h in Lithuania in winter even on highways. http://www.ityre.com/en/tyres/catalog/brid...one/size/60571/
  17. Also, as posted previously by somebody on the forum, you might try to lower the pressure in back tyres - that should provide a bit better grip too.
  18. I must confirm from my own experience that tyres change a lot the driving on snow/ice. I got my car with user Bridgestone Blizzak LM-25 tyres (225/45 R17), even though they are supposed to be winter tyres (M+S), they failed on deep snow to provide decent traction. Recently switched to Bridgestone Blizzak Nordic WN-01 (205/55 R16). Of course, these have more tread on them as of today, but they definitely perform much better on deep snow than the ones I had before. I think the width of the tyre could also play a big role in this case.
  19. Same as mine mate! Boss is never to happy when i say i cant get in. He just tells me "well , everyone else has got in".......*****! He just doesn't understand the is200 snow problem! :tsktsk: What are the main problems you are having with the snow and IS there? With decent winter tyres it handles the snow just fine.
  20. I would only complain about Power/MPG ratio (well, I suppose I have enought power for my city driving, but would prefer to have better MPG). Other than that, seems to be an excellent car :)
  21. Well, that's quite a lot. Probably depends on your traffic. Of course short journeys affects the MPG a lot. As per my calculations, you get 18.8l/100km or 12.5 mpg. I am getting usually something like 13-14l/100km (sometimes 15) in city traffic, making it 17 mpg. I also think that my car consumes more than it should. Maybe somebody else will be able to add some figures to these. P.S. I have switched to LPG - have driven less than one tank of LPG yet, but so far everything seems to be fine. Will tell, what are the MPGs with LPG in a few days :) A few photos after installation:
  22. Hi there, Wondering, what are your thoughts? Is it worth it? Has anybody changed it? What is your experience? Any difference in induction noise, performance, MPG?
  23. Hi to all other fellow buyers of this kit, I have fitted mine a few days ago - tested it in night time and it seems to make a major difference in lighting, however, I have some thoughts regarding it. When driving, I noticed that the beam is concentrated in the middle. The ceramic covering material is situated on the bottom of the bulb, however, the dip light bulb once fitted in the headlight stays with 45 angle. Shouldn't it be fitted like this - horizontally (photo from other car) - so that it blocks the light going upwards? Fitted in Lexus: Mechanics of reflector type headlight:
  24. These are probably the ones, which I will go for - just I have found these sold by other cheaper even cheaper (40 quid in total with shipping!) - asked the seller - it is the same model spark plugs. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...E:X:RTQ:GB:1123
  25. Could you tell me, what kind of spare wheel comes with these cars - is it with rim as it is in IS or do they provide the small wheel and tyre as a spare? Thanks!
