  1. IMHO there should be two unrelated problems with your car. I get the same error you have from time to time and the problem seems to be weak cat, which needs to be replaced (in your case, it could also be the front lambda for first free cylinders). The TRC and handbrake light should be because of other problem. I assume people with better diagnostics should be able to read that error tho. The TRC and handbrake lights do not come on just because of the P0420 ECU fault.
  2. Hello, The following lamp has lighted up a several times during my last trip (for a few seconds and went away). After checking engine oil level after stopping and coming back to the car after an hour or so, check the level of oil and was sitting in about the middle in between of min and max. So it should be enought of fuel to maintain pressure/level. The weather was quite hot today and I have 5w30 fully syntethic oil. Could it be the reason? Has anybody else noticed the light coming on without the reason? Thanks, Jonas
  3. Water is normaly produced, when the fuel burns. All hydrocarbons, what gasoline is in this case, once burnt become water and carbon dioxide. In mornings, when the system is still cold, water steam condensates in the system becoming water and, on the other hand, once the exhaust system becomes warm/hot, water is evaporated as gas :)
  4. So this is a bolt, which connects the lower ball joint to the hub, right? Does the bolt come with the ball joint? It could be the risk of using an aftermarket ball joint, which probably doesn't match the quality of the OEM unit :)
  5. Hello and welcome to LOC! :) Mine is 2000 IS200 and I have tried the following and both worked just fine: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.28528 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/AUTO-SCANNER-OBDII-OBD2-OBD-II-2-CAN-BUS-USB-V1-3-scan-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem3a5a1eb805QQitemZ250620065797QQptZMotorsQ5fAutomotiveQ5fTools
  6. Don't drive differently - just drive how you normally drive. You want the car to learn your driving style so that the engine management is adopting the best way to work with you at the wheel :winky: Could anybody give guidelines on how to disconnect the ECU fuse? :)
  7. Is ECT PWR more economical than driving in normal mode? :) The car is much more responsive in sports mode ;)
  8. I assume that it is a bit on the low side, but sometimes still reasonable with IS - if I am Ok with my calculations, you are getting 19-20 MPG. Is yours A/T or M/T. I used to get ~17 MPG, once driven with petrol.
  9. at least post some pictures to background it with proof as now it definitely looks like an ad.
  10. Don't know, what Tony will say, but front camber for me seems stil to be off the values recommended by WIM. I think it should be between -10 and -20 minutes on both sides.
  11. Difficult to tell - could be the reason. It was the same with my car. You couldn't almost see the difference from the wing and the driver's door, but the color looked different in photos. I had my car hit by some guy and got the doors repainted with gradient over the wind and it is perfectly fine now - would definitely have left it as it was, if the doors wouldn't have had to be repainted.
  12. I think he is talking about front left wing - it seems it has a bit different look than the doors on the left side. Left wing matches the bonnet and front bumper tho.
  13. Oh - I thought I am alone without the trim, even wanted to check with scrap yards to get a hold of it :)
  14. I think he meant that the logo and the text is too big for the cap. It should simply be a bit smaller, having some black margins arround. Anyway - nice upgrade from the stock stickers ;)
  15. How much does it cost to change the springs? :)
  16. probably as the manual has 6 gears was to avoid people by accidently putting in reverse gear who are not familiar with IS.
  17. Workshop manual is available online: http://www.bahamutcars.com/workshop/IS_98-05/index.html Spark plugs can be bought on eBay (haven't found a better price anywhere else): http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360051722253 Ooops - it seems this thread is 7 years old
  18. I think autos don't beep - mine also doesn't beep ;)
  19. Hi there, I am thinking of changing my cloth interior for electrical alacantra style. Most of the ISes we have got here for spare parts come from the UK and thus I wonder, if electrical functions on both passenger and driver seats are the same or if there are any other differences (like height)? Thanks!
  20. Both of the solutions I covered above will allow you to connect the ECU to the laptop via USB port. I have tested a few programs and as of today my favorite are ScanMaster-ELM and ScanXL ELM.
  21. Hey did you ever paint your calipers??? have the same colour motor as you and am a bit stuck on the caliper colour, how longago did you change your caliper, i think its usually about 100 mile to bed them in, but i aint 100% Ormi, thanks for advice. Well. I think we bleeded the caliper properly, which we have changed - no air was coming out of the hose any more. Could it mean that some air has been trapped from the master cylinder end? How to bleed that air? Bleed till the air comes through one of the calipers? Iceman2010, I have been advised to paint the calipers in the body color - probably that's what I will go after. Been advised that any paint should be fine on the calipers, if the car is not raced on the track.
  22. how long does the bedding take - I have changed one of my calipers and am suffering the same symptoms.
  23. off-topic question - what is the interval for diff oil change?
