  1. That's what it should look like more or less.
  2. Gendan equivalent for $30 with free shipping from Hong Kong: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.28528 Or another one for $20: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/AUTO-SCANNER-SCAN-TOOL-CAN-BUS-OBDII-OBD2-OBD-2-II-EOBD_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem5631922e1dQQitemZ370198851101QQptZMotorsQ5fAutomotiveQ5fTools Both will require some patience to get them delivered to Europe (up to a month probably), but both a great deals :)
  3. Had the same problem with mine - seems it becomes an ofter problem, when the IS starts to age. The reason is a sticking brake piston. Donmar, how was yours refurbished? What this procedure consists of? I have changed mine with other used one. What shuld we do to avoid such problems in the future?
  4. Wanted to create such thread some time ago... Mine has done ~250000 kms as of today.
  5. Regarding Autoglym Super Resin Polish - do you apply it by hand or use rotary buffer? Got some in stock. Any recommendations on what is the best way to apply it? Thanks!
  6. In order not to create yet another thread, does anybody know what is the color code for gunmetal? Something like this:
  7. any experience by others with painting calipers with general paint?..
  8. Nope, it doesn't. Simply gas is a leaner fuel than petrol and that's the reason, why the light comes on ;)
  9. Thanks for the reply. Never thought of that - always have been told to get paint that can withstand high temperature. Anybody other has painted their calipers in general car paint? Nope - have no intentions to use my car on a race track...
  10. Same with me - have no wish to stand out with red brembo like calipers myself :) What kind of paint/decals did you get? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LEXUS-Brake-Caliper-...=item519145bc21 is the price for the decals reasonable? That's quite expensive for a few stickers, IMHO :)
  11. Hi mates, Looking for another piece of advice. Almost decided already to paint the "summer" wheels to something like this: Once the wheels are repainted, probably will also have to do the calipers. So, what do you think, what color would suit the best? So far I was thinking of plain silver possibilty with black lexus decals (or black calipers with white decals) :) . What do you think? The best photo I have with calipers seen in current state:
  12. Could anybody comment, who managed to get the remote function programmed - this is the quote of the procedure to follow: Could anybody comment, which key should I use for steps 2 (red) and 6 (green)? I assume, I should use already programmed key on step 2 and at step 6 I should insert the key, which I want to program. Correct me, if I am wrong. I still haven't managed to get my remote function working. P.S. If I have already programmed the immobiliser function on my second key, it should be master, shouldn't it? So, couldn't I insert the same key in both steps? So far, I have always inserted different keys. Thanks!
  13. could be true.. the top photo is the original one, which was photoshopped. doesn't look too dirty too me, tho :)
  14. That's the same, what I think. I love the gun metal color, but it matches better with yellow or silver cars. Mine is probably a bit too dark. What do you think - is the second choice better than the original - if I do the refurb, probably they won't be able to polish the border, so the wheel would be solid silver in the first case.
  15. Hi there, Winter is about to leave soon and now I am thinking about the possibility or refurbing my wheels. What do you guys think, which of the designs would suit my car the best? :) Open for any other ideas too. Thanks!
  16. I had another question - didn't want to create a seperate thread. Have you got any ideas, where it would be possible to get a front floor mat fixator (piece that connects the floor mat to the floor). eBay?..
  17. Yes, it is more or less the same. For example, if you are chaning the lanes on the road drop dead stop at slow speed at a junction, you have to assist the wheel to go back. I have been told that it could also be the steering rack (column, I am not sure what is the appropriate English term for it) :) Did the wheel geometry today - didn't solve my problem. As I have no record of my car's service history, I assume there might be something wrong with steering column. Does anybody have experience with it? The steering fine seems to be firm with no loose movements, however, I think that the steering column could be overtightened, thus making steering more firm and so limiting the self-centering. Any thoughts? :)
  18. I am not sure what size the speakers are, but I wonder - what do you think - what improves the quality of sound more - swapping the speakers or the headunit? P.S. do the front speakers differ with different sound system setups (to my knowledge, back speakers differ).
  19. Yes, it is more or less the same. For example, if you are chaning the lanes on the road drop dead stop at slow speed at a junction, you have to assist the wheel to go back. 20. Would the reconditioning kit for caliper cylinders solve the sticking cylinder problem? :)
  21. Thanks for your thoughts, mates! Well - I bought my IS back in November last year - have been driving only FWDs before, so I can't compare it with other RWDs appropriately. As for inner wear - I have got new tyres for winter season and have made like ~3000 kms with these tyres and so far the profile of the tyre seems to be fine. As of worse self-centering because of wider tyres, I got original 205/55 R16 tyres so it should be fine. Once driving, when I turn the steering wheel like ~30-45 degrees and drive, the steering wheel wouldn't even try to self-centre. Probably I will have to get the geometry done.
  22. In addition to the previous question, is it somehow possible to control the idle rpm on the Lexus or is it completely controlled by ECU?
  23. Hi there, My car's steering wheel does not center itself properly while making turns. It does center most of the rotation, but to make it go completely straight I usually have to do that manually - much different from the FWD I have been driving before. First I thought it could be because of RWD, but probably there is something what may require attention. What are your toughts? What are most likely to cause such symptoms? Ball joints (if so, upper or lower)? Wrong wheel alignment? Open for any ideas. Thanks! :)
  24. So, you get approximately >20mpg in extra-urban traffic? Mine is also an Auto and I have owned it only since November, so have always been driving it in colder weather conditions and my achievements are like this: extra-urban ~28 mpg and in urban conditions I have been avaraging ~17 mpg. Anybody else with their calculations on an automatic A/T? :)
