  1. Chelmsord in Essex, and sometimes Luton & Dunstable in Bedfordshire (honest, im not a gypsy). IS200SE
  2. Are you sure you want to cut your own springs? Forgive me if your professional, but you need to be bang on with measuring and cutting them or you could end up with problems. Cutting standard springs can mess up the handling and ride quality compared to fitting a proper lowering kit thats designed for shorter travel in your suspension. You could end up with the suspension bottoming out frequently.
  3. YouTube has a few videos of performance exhausts fitted to IS200's. They all sound pretty much the same so looks and cost will probably be the deciding factor.
  4. I was thinking about this and wonder if it has somethin to do with the glass not touching the rubber on the side windows. If you lower the glass to clear mist or rain water it doesn't work so maybe cold air pushes in under the glass and stops it warming enough to cure condensation?
  5. There are plenty of times an auto would be nice, especially having cruise control as I do most of my driving on motorways. But autos bore me after a while. When a nice country road with plenty of nice bends is in front of me I want to be in control of the gears.
  6. Thanks Imperial, I'm looking to buy these service parts so handy to have a shopping list.
  7. yep booked it in for them to have a look thanks again I never knew about the rust warranty either. Useful info thanks! Let us know the outcome of this.
  8. Never done one one the Lex, but have done a renault electric mirror which sounds the same as what Mr Speirs describes. When fitting the new mirror be careful of where you apply pressure to get it into the mounting clips. I used a cloth to press the mirror as it spreads the pressure over the surface and prevents the new mirror from cracking. Do not press the corners of the mirror to fit it, press directly over the clips.
  9. There was a group buy on here a while ago for the air con rings- got them through the group buy. They are a rare item. Ah nevermind, I will keep an eye out on eBay in case some turn up. Failing that I might see about getting my existing ones plated.
  10. Looks great Kam! Think I may have to try your method of cleaning once the weather warms up a little. I used autoglym on all my previous cars, but it didn't bring up my black Lex very well. Where did you get the stainless air con rings? One of my plastic ones has a gash in it so stainless would look sweet.
  11. Empty the washer bottle, fill with warm water and empty it again. It can take a while to lose the smell of stagnant water.
  12. Ahhh, see now thats a different spoiler from mine. Mine looks much cheaper! I found the cable for the led light following the boot lid arm so its definitely aftermarket. I may just rip it off and drop it at a spray shop to see if they can remove the led's, fill the hole and respray it. Thanks for the help guys.
  13. My IS200 has a boot lip spoiler with a tacky led brake light (which looks silly with the standard 3rd brake light). I want to ditch the led's but want a replacement spoiler. Any suggestions?
  14. On occasion I drive my dads automatic astra and it bores me to death. It's a decent auto box but I fail to get any enjoyment from driving it. The manual change in the IS is great. Maybe not the smoothest transmission but it has a positive feel to it. Never tried an IS in automatic yet though. Anyone care to give there opinion on it?
  15. I recently got a quote for a 60,000 mile service from Lexus, which included cam belt and water pump. The quote was over £1200!
  16. I bought my IS200 for its ability to eat through motorway miles as that's where I do most of my driving. Out of all the other cars I was considering the IS was the only one that didn't fall into the sports category (i came very close to buying an mr2 which I have wanted since the mk2 was released), and was also the slowest car. The IS is perfectly suited to my needs. Surely before you buy a car you know about its performance so I don't understand how anyone could complain about its power. For what the car is I feel its engine is great. Maybe other 2 litre motors are more powerful but I doubt they carry the reliability of the Lexus, or the smoothness.
  17. I was talking about the tensioner with a Lexus mechanic a couple weeks ago and he said he has seen a few belts that were very close to snapping, one he described as the thickness of a shoe lace! Definitely get the tensioner done along with the belt.
  18. Sounds pretty normal to me. The shift on the IS can be slightly clunky. Nothing to worry about.
  19. It may be a good idea to also report the accident to the police so there is an official report of it.
  20. I own a 51 plate IS so may be different to yours, but all that lights up on my drivers door controls is the door lock switch. The dash light dimmer control does not light up either.
  21. Your opinion surprises me. I recently bought my IS so have test driven a lot of cars on different tyres. The Goodyear Eagle F1's were the stickiest tyres I drove on. I have them on my car now and struggle to spin the rears in the dry. Outstanding rubber imo.
  22. I have only just sorted this problem on my car whilst fitting Angel Eyes. The headlamp units have 2 sponge breathers which will not stop condensation as they will saturate quickly if the lens seals leak. Remove the headlamp and bake to remove the lens. Dry the inside with a hair dryer. Partly close the unit so the glue is exposed still and heat in the oven again. Once its hot use silicone sealant on the seams and close the unit properly. I drove 70 miles in very heavy rain after doing mine and not a drop of moisture got in.
  23. Haha! I think Audi drivers are the snob variant of BMW owners now
  24. Think yourself lucky you don't drive a beemer as everyone would automatically think your an *****.
