  1. Looks good! I was considering having my car windows done at some time, and as I visit the west country a lot I may well be giving you a call. Just out of interest, how long would you need the car for and approx how much to do the rear windows (side and back) You can pm me if you prefer. Phil
  2. Funny you should say that. When I had a courtsey car earlier this year, they gave me a brand new VW Passat, the dashboard reminded me of a 1980's car. Straight lines and with absolutley nothing of any interest. The most boring new car I've driven in a long time, but it had modern electronics. However, not as advanced as my 99 LS!
  3. Pete, sometimes it's easier just to draw a line under it and move on. When I put my MK2 on ebay the buyer changed his mind and I had to relist it. I got so fed up I put it back on with a low buy it now price and sold it within hours. I'd be doing the same as you're suggesting if I wanted to just get it out of the way. As nice as Lexus are, they are just cars. Let us now how it goes. Phil
  4. I've lost count of the times I broke down in the distant past with electrical failures. Especially when it rained!
  5. WOT! no LS Sadly no, no LS because I've had to sacrifice it for the Allegro!
  6. 7 x 1967 Corvettes (one for each day of the week, all different colours) an Austin Allegro to remind me just how awful they were, the 1969 right hand drive Chevrolet Chevelle I used to own and a Dodge Charger.
  7. Now that you've made the confession so can I. I liked my Maxi as well. Mind you, that was then, I'm sure if I drove one now my opinion might change....and then I'd prefer the X5!!! How about that for getting back on topic then? Well MY! Maxi had loads of leg room & plenty of back seat for a little slap & tickle Hows that for getting way off topic then? Well done for getting back off topic so quickly!! Before we sing the praises of British 80's cars let's remember that 80,000 miles on the clock and most were knackered, at least mine were. Unlike my LS400 which has 98,000 and I think is so much nicer to drive than a BMW X5...= back on topic! I agree but do YOU agree that the Maxi had plenty of necking room For a car of its time, yes. However, did it have more room than the topical X5 or the much more comfortable (and topical) LS400?

  10. A lot of LS400 owners wonder what to do when it comes to replacement as they stopped production in 2000, so to me the GS300 looks like a good possible replacement.
  11. Hmm, there's a thought, I have had an Austin Maxi.....no, maybe not....And Ian, the thread is like the beast in Hotel California, it won't die!!! :o
  12. Take care Pete. Never mind the car, it's just good to hear that the health issue is not as major as it could be. All the best. Phil
  13. That's very good I think, I'd be happy with that. I'll put it to them when I take it in on May22
  14. So, the conclusion of the matter is that they all have good points, and it's down to personal preference. Better stop there eh?
  15. Clearly stacking shelves in Morrisons pays more than I thought!!
  16. That makes sense, the big Lexus cars are more for wafting along or relaxing in the back. Mind you, ever since there was a post saying the fuel economy is better with the ECT/PWR switch selected (which I now do all the time) it's become less of a wafter.....
  17. Strangely enough, my wife has a 1.4 Corsa, and because it's auto I really don't think it does a great deal better on fuel than my V8
  18. Welcome to LOC. When my sister came over from Canada a few years ago, her husband, (a Canadian) was really surprised at the amount of convertibles we have here, considering the amount of rain you have, he said. Let's hope you get a good summer to enjoy it! Phil
  19. Wow, a Range Rover as well, I don't think I would want your fuel bills!
  20. You are not alone. Sure Lexus has its attributes but BMW is definitely a better drive IMO. I think it's important here to think like for like. If we were perhaps comparing an old LS with a brand new BMW (or whatever) there may not be as much competition, although even then I may be wrong. My main point was that apart from the value of my mates X5 there's nothing else I would consider swapping. But as we've now gone from an X5 to a 7 series we would have to compare like for like. In my case it would have to be a 99 LS for a 99 BMW, and I'm sure the LS would win easily.
  21. I like this. It's an LS400 with a colour printer built in to the front bumper. What will those Japanese think of next?http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lexus-LS-400-4-0-auto-private-number-plate-new-12-month-mot-/251256029161?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item3a8006bfe9
  22. My local garage laughed as well. Mike Fair comments, but it reminds me of the amount of times a mechanic has said he can replace the cam belt on an LS for £200 without even knowing what's involved. However you look at it, it increases the labour time, therefore the cost.
