  1. One careful lady owner as well - maybe it was black but has sufferred from too much Vim or Ajax ?
  2. Could be the mileage - that 8140 is based on 40k - plus Parkers are usually a grand over what you will realisticly be offered.
  3. New cars will always lose a bucketful in their first few years, as you have unfortunately found. I have just used Parkers (yes I know) to get a feel of the situation. Lexus Is200 SE Auto 2004 on a 53 plate..... Cost new = £21,535 P/X Value now = £15,000 Citroen C5 Exclusive V6 2004 on a 53 plate..... Cost new = £22,477 P/X Value now = £8,080 Lexus Is200 SE Auto 1999 on a T plate... Cost new = £23,195 P/X Value now = £8,140 Can't be all that bad in the long term ?
  4. Lets be careful out there ! as per signature below.................
  5. The Scratch-X didn't get at the ground in very light, almost unnoticeable scratches like I expected but it certainly improved it. Maybe three workings of Scratch-X wasn't enough or maybe I'm being over pedantic about it ? Washed, Hoovered, Scratch-X'ed, Meguiars Liquid Waxed, Knackered - looks a treat though, like when it was new. What has set it off though is rotating the cigarette lighter so that the picture of the cigarette is horizontal with the dash - nice :shutit:
  6. Excellent stuff - thanks.
  7. I'd give my left arm to be ambidextrous ! Right handed here for most things but for some strange reason I can play darts with either and when I am using a screwdriver I can get more torque out of my left.
  8. Can you make sure I'm not behind you when you change from 6th to 1st :D
  9. Having washed and polished for 16 months now I have the usual dreaded swirls, most noticeable on the boot and bonnet in closeup view. Having read all the posts I have just aquired some Meguiars: 1) Scratch-X 2) Gold Class Clear Coat Liquid Car Wax 3) Showcar Shine Ultimate Wipe Q: I suppose my surface has many coats of Turtlewax Shampoo Wax and Turtlewax Colour Polish layers. Will the above cut through all that and do the business on metallic montrose blue ? Any tips ? Ta
  10. Getting old ! I've got old - and I love my auto's. Apart from crawling in traffic I find I can get a more relaxed and comfy seat position because I have no clutch pedal to floor. You really need to borrow an auto for a weekend and give it a good try before you buy.
  11. Interesting drive in this morning. Spotted 2 IS's First one was a "V" reg, and I now know what corroded alloys look like. The front wheels were covered with large black corroded 'spots' measuring about 2" - 3" in diameter. Obviously originals from 1998/9. The rear wheels looked reasonable. My second spot was definately a saloon version - IS200 Sport (tinted rear windows and spoiler '53 reg') but underneath the IS200 boot logo was another similar raised chrome style plastic logo reading "SPORT-X". Isn't the Sportcross the hatchback version or am I missing a trick here ?
  12. I also would not go back to a manual. They often give me a manual pool car and I HATE them - especially in London as has already been mentioned. Trying to crawl in traffic up a slight incline is murder whereas in my auto I just lift my foot off the brake. However, some peeps prefer their manuals and I respect that.
  13. With the job it does the paint soon gets scratched off and a smearing of grease should sort that. Mine's slightly rusty but nothing to worry about.
  14. Hi According to >> THIS LINK << you should be able to get rid of most of it via Add/Remove programs ! Sounds too easy to me ?
  15. After accepting what appeared to be a kind offer from a German motorist to tow his broken car, a stranded Polish motorist was taken on a terrifying high-speed joyride at speeds of 160 kph (100 mph), police said on Tuesday. Police said a 36-year-old German man who offered assistance proceeded to hurl down the motorway at high speeds after tying a cable to the stranded car. The Polish motorist, who remained inside his vehicle during the tow, flashed his lights and honked his horn at the speeding German driver to stop. Police said the Pole was finally able to bring the German to a halt by swerving his car back and forth. The German was taken to a psychiatric clinic, police said. Source: BERLIN (Reuters)
  16. And they will be 2 a penny on the road once Mr Rep gets going. I prefer the exclusivity, the better value, the better build quality, the more helpful dealers, etc, etc.
  17. Sometime later, during the summer hols, when I get some time I am fully intending getting a full geometry and wheel balance at WIM. Not that I'm having any probs but nice to ensure it is pukka. No excuse as I am only 12 miles away :)
  18. I wish they had done the front bumper the same way !
  19. I thought all Corsa's had mandatory "L" plates ?
