  1. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...showtopic=25672 Been in my area just over a month now. The consensus here was that it didn't seem to make any notiecable difference and that you might have to reset the ECU for it to be recognised and taken advantage of. Just for info my local is Tesco Yeading
  2. Thanks Aido.............. :) What I meant to convey was that most of us will be banging out the Zzzzzzzzzzzz then. Except for Scarface who will probably find an Internet Cafe to raid :D
  3. Depends which way you take that ...........
  4. For a relatavely small amount you can get small safes to keep keys in (£30?). They usually have bolt holes for securing if you have somewhere solid. I've seen them in B&Q and Robert Dyas. I think the best deterrent is probably the CCTV idea with which you could place a PIR light right next to the camera, out of height range, so the light comes on and they notice a camera right next to it - you've been framed !
  5. As far as I can tell we will still only have a choice between displaying mileage or trip mileage, both would have been useful. A radio controlled clock would be useful alongside TrafficMaster Oracle (as per Citroen, Vauxhall, BMW) for those who don't need full SatNav.
  6. I'm not so sure - Williams have lost their BMW engines and are going Cosworth which may lose some grunt for them, lost HP as their major sponsor..........
  7. I read somewhere that metal that is heated resists and can remove rust ? After I wash the car the discs all turn orange and there it sits until Monday morning when I drive to work. After the 21 mile journey all the orange has gone and they are back to normal. I wonder if the heat around the wheels area is what is helping corrosion stay away from my wheels as well ?
  8. I think that the difference between the basic and SE did not really attract me very much. At first glance the differences are wheels and seats(powered). I'm not too fussed about power seats because I'm the only driver so once they are set........ The difference between the SE and SE-L did seem sort of part justified to me.
  9. I debadged mine not long after getting it but I found it just didn't look right so I put them back on again.
  10. Even Argos are doing them : >> ARGOS <<
  11. I noticed on the news this morning that they are threatening to start blocking refineries again from Sept 14th unless the gov reduce the tax on fuel whilst the current crisis is on. The govs response was that when the US get New Orleans sorted we should see a reduction in prices then. I think greed sets in - 17.5% VAT of current prices is a lot more than 17.5% VAT of what it was a year ago, the gov can't lose.
  12. Funny this topic should come up. I purchased a black thermometer from Maplins some time ago with a probe that is supposed to go outside the vehicle. My theory is that no matter where you place the thermo it will get influenced by some heat source be it direct sun or running gear and I didn't fancy one of those Halfords Audi style window sucker jobs. After many weeks of moving the probe around I have found the ideal position which is on the central door pillar about 3" off the floor. This area seems OK and is not influenced by any mechanical heat. I tried putting the probe right next to the sensor under the steering column but after 10 mins or so this area becomes warm as the heat from the mechanicals gets at it. I even tried mounting the probe so that the sensor was not actually attached to the plastic but it still suffered from radiated heat. I therefore cannot understand how this sensor position can accurately determine what heat setting you have set as the plastic surround gets warmer the longer you run.
  13. Just a quick point on this : You will only get mods on GOLD members vehicles as those of us not ventured cannot add any mods. As far as I understand ?
  14. By all accounts, if you show it your door mirrors it should find a nice home in there :)
  15. Weight would certainly be possible in my case As a side issue, when Tony did my full monty the other week he took tyre depth measurments. Based on those measurements and based on the fact that I have been running around at 34psi (reducing to 33psi on some tyres at times because I don't check them that often) he suggested that from now on I run at 35psi because the wear pattern was indicating slight under-inflation.
  16. The latest Which? magazine has arrived with the customary annual car review. I would say that yet again the IS200/300 has come out top in most categories. The only area for their criticism was the high MPG. Apart from that it shone in all areas (as usual). Which? has placed it as a 'best buy' which is of course a bit out of date being as you can't buy them new anymore. I also looked to see how far out of date the other listings were : No new 3 series No Citroen C4 (not that I'm interested in either) and how long have they been out ? I looked through it to try and find another vehicle with the same star ratings just in case the 250 does prove too expensive and I could only find 1 vehicle : Toyota Corolla :yack:
  17. Hi Tony I'm fractionally to the right, and I mean fractionally. I'm certainly not complaining though and the whole driving experience is a lot more positive. I reckon I used to have a slight drift to the left before which has now been corrected. Had a bit of a scare a week ago after the torrential rain when I hit a large puddle whilst doing about 50. Fortunately I had a good grip of the wheel otherwise I reckon I would have been slung left. Hopefully it hasn't affected any geometry setting - feels OK still :)
  18. The likes of Ford and Vauxhall etc give massive discounts to the fleet market to attract the volume buyers. I cannot see Lexus stooping to such practises ? If they did then the fleet buyers would be looking at paying circa £15,000 for a 220d ?
  19. A buyer wants an IS200 but unfortunately they are now becoming unavailable and has been pointed towards the new model but : and is out of her price band anyway)
  20. My local Tesco is doing the bog standard 95 RON unleaded and I noticed yesterday that there is also now a 99 RON variant available. Any benefits going for this with a IS200 ?
  21. Sort of Bought mine because it was 'affordable quality', anything over £25k including auto and metallic for me isn't. Plus I don't expect to lose options next time around. Don't mind losing the sunroof because I never use it but going back to manual seats, no parking sensors option, etc. I would like to change to the IS250 in 2-3 years time but I can't afford it in the spec I would require. In my opinion the SE is too basic and the SE-L has many features I don't need. I probably need to opt for the SE with what I want as options. I know you have advance orders but I wonder how many will be forced to cancel when they learn the price ? The IS200 is currently the best selling model and there is a reason for that. As a dealer you must have sales info with regard to numbers of units sold. Imagine now if the IS200 was not available and the IS300 was the starting model. How would that affect numbers of buyers ? What percentage of customers would not even approach the salesroom ?
