  1. Hi all. Im looking to buy a scanguage to monitor MPG etc, but it is only OBDII compliant. I am on the understanding that all cars after 1996 used OBDII. I cant find the OBDII port on my LS400 mkIII. Ive searched for ages looking in the car and also on this forum and google looking for info and folk say the 95+ LS400 should be OBDII can anyone help?
  2. I think owning a LS400 has started to make me paranoid, you know because its so quiet that any hint of a noise or jolt seems amplified where as in a 'normal' car you wouldnt think twice? I need to be truthfull here and say that my mkIII is on 130,000 miles and im VERY lucky that the suspension doesnt make ANY noises, clonks/knocks/rattles, its tight, but at the thought of gaining clonks etc from wear I obviously take care to avoid rough surfaces and pot holes, this is where the paranoia seems to kick in, I dont know why but it feels like the LS400 isnt the 'magic carpet' style ride that it once was, and it feels harsh and firm. Now I am used to a firm car from the other that I own, MR2 with uprated suspension and many modifications, enough to break your teeth... but even still the lexus still feels a little harsh. To my knowledge the lex is on standard suspension/bushes/wheels etc and doesnt look lowered...does it?
  3. Thanks for the warning TeamDax, if they dont come with holders, ill find some in the garage no doubt... (Broke 3 MR2's this year so plenty of odds and ends lol) As for side repeaters, what do you think to these... http://www.dcp-shop.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=1_90_118&products_id=1765 similar shape to the OEM lexus? they have a good oem frosted style anyway, unless there is a tried and tested alternative?
  4. Hi, Thanks for the reply, I think you're right I'll go for the frosted style. being new to Lexus, is there anything that I need to look for when buying them? ie: are the USA bumper lights exactly the same size as the UK/Euro bumpers, from searching it seems they are ...
  5. Show us your clear front indicators please, mk3 in particular searching for mk3 indicators and it seems there are 2 types available the super clear ones: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200496503248&viewitem=&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26its%3DI%26otn%3D2&category=33717 the more oem frosted ones: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Lexus-LS400-Clear-Signal-Bumper-Lights-1995-1996-1997-/110523881138?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories are there any other types out there? I prefer the OEM/frosted looking ones, but cant seem to find a picture of these actually on a car, anyone help here? (I can find super clear ones on a car) They shall be travelling back with a few other lexus goodies in a suitcase at the end of the month, so need to order soon

  11. nope the lower part code doesnt appear on my car, it seems to be a toyota/lexus thing where they only like to stamp the primary code onto the car... I've had similar issues with my mr2 secondary paint code
  12. got it! http://www.ih8mud.com/tech/tsb/LexusLX450/lpa00296.pdf mines UCA32 yours is 199, UCA75
  13. yeah thats about the same as what ive found, it definatly seems that the 8L1 matches UCA32, hmmm im still not convinced though
  14. Hi cheers for the help, so yours is basically LE13? if so that is the same as mine after the primary paint code only thing is when I search for LE13 in google, nothing crops up, but when I search for two tone 8L1 is says that the lower part of the code could be UCA32 :S very confusing!
  15. Im looking to have the front bumper re-sprayed but I cant find the paint code for the lower half of the car, as I understand it the first 3 digits of the VIN are for the primary paint code, but wheres the code for the lower half? heres a pic: so far i've got "8L1 - star sapphire Pearl" Just need the lower colour code now Any help would be great :)
  16. ohoh no, the premium sound system is good enough for me in terms of sound quality and its OEM looks, its just that I really need the ipod and bluetooth features back, especially for my everyday car
  17. I have a double din pioneer that I didnt buy too long ago (and fitted to my Camry), it has intergrated bluetooth that I use alot for my mobile calls, it also has USB capability for my Ipod, which will be used all the time
  18. Im hopefully going to be installing my pioneer head unit in replacement of the factory unit, and i've literally searched the internet for 4 hours on this subject, but nothing seems conclusive to the mk3 wiring this guide suggests running cables to the amp, bypassing it, so in effect running new speaker wires to the new head unit, and by doing so doing away with the amp and sub http://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls400/396809-1996-lexus-ls400-stereo-install-wiring-info-diagrams.html this guide suggests just tapping into the wiring from the existing head unit location, and once done everything would work, including the sub and amp http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=66133 whats the one to go for, either? neither and go down a different route? or just send it to an audio place and let them have the headache :P
  19. is the one from halfords the autoleads? suppose once I get the facia the big job will be doing the wiring, ive heard it can be a pain :duh: PM'd Baz
  20. Im wanting to put a double din headunit in replacement of the lexus item, i've seen the facia adapters that are on ebay, but what do they look like with regards to the existing dash plastics? do they match well? heres the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1995-2000-LEXUS-LS400-DOUBLE-DIN-RADIO-INSTALL-KIT-8153-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem2ea9bf5604QQitemZ200416384516QQptZCarQ5fAudioQ5fVideo if anyones fitted one previously, can you post a pic :) any other solutions also welcome
