  1. replace the lot, you'll only have to do it all again if one of those tensioners starts rattling.....
  2. Do you still have the drivers center arm rest? what condition is it in, and any pics? also do you have the toolbox? Cheers
  3. what was the ebay sellers name for the wishbones? Just so I can avoid them!!! Anyway I think i've got a slight knock, im not sure that I have, but I get paranoid and listen out for the slightest thing... So im changing every component.. that'll sort it :)
  4. no a faulty o2 sensor wouldnt show the EML without the engine being started (unless its a stored code). Have you had the car plugged into a diagnostics machine to read the codes?
  5. I've got a perfect working (also great condition exterior wise) standard radio from my 1996 mk3 for sale, if you still need one PM me cheers
  6. Hi, thanks, but thats for the mk1/2 isnt it? I cant see any products in the links to mk3 ufc20
  7. Im looking to replace the front bushings on the lower control arms (or even replace the complete arms themselves??) , but I cant find any products around, Ive done a search without much luck. only thing ive found is these from the USA http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/LEXUS-LS400-95-00-FRONT-LOWER-ARM-BUSHING-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem5882c0f835QQitemZ380150806581QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories its for a 1996 mk3 LS400 Cheers
  8. Ever since owning my ls400 ive had the usual leaky boot, i swapped the seal to a new one and all was well, the boot stayed dry... that is, until you opened it after a night of rain! I park on an incline and so if its been raining the water gathers between the wing edge and the boot seal, when you then open the boot the gathered water now overflows over the seal and into the boot. So I decided to add 2 drainage points (one either side of the boot) from the top of the boot lip down through the floor, I drilled a hole about 1.5mm smaller than my silicone hose (so it would be water tight) squeezed the hose in and put it through one of the existing boot floor grommets. So now the water goes straight down the hosing and out of the boot, it should in theory keep the boot seal in better condition too as its not constantly soaked!
  9. "Anything to declare Sir?" Steve HMRC :D hahahahaha, no nothing to declare here
  10. What's the model number of the H/U please? hi, its Pioneer FH-P80BT
  11. Hi Andy, good stuff with the window switch, thats 2 of us then :) its really usefull isnt it!? As for the headunit, for the mk3 I dont believe there is an aftermarket harness, You have to run new speaker cable from the headunit, unplug the plugs from the amps(under the drivers seat) and join your new speaker cable to the relevant plug wires (theres a diagram floating around here somewhere)... you will lose your sub and amp, but you can obviously wire in an aftermarket one cheaply and for better quality. Oh and you will need a facia adapter to convert to double din Cheers for letting me know about the wheels, I wonder what version center caps they are? as all the mk4 alloys i've seen have been recessed, I prefer them anyway... mk4 alloys/recessed caps: http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l189/ohohfigaro/P8050021.jpg
  12. mk3 here... -changed the front indicator lamps to clear (and added 2 bulbs per side) -clear side repeators -Pioneer double din headunit (with ipod control, bluetooth - connects to my phone as soon as i enter the car) -Window control switch - modified the drivers switch internals to allow for "auto-up" as well as the standard auto-down :D -EBC redstuff brake pads -not sure if the alloys are standard? Ive never seen a mk3 with them, they look like mk4 wheels, but they have flatter center caps, unlike the mk4 which seem recessed
  13. ebay.co.uk for the pads, cost me 60 odd quid delivered... the discs i got from the usa, sneaked them into luggage, cost about $80 for a pair, bargain... repeated braking from xxx leptons and there is no brake fade at all, they just keep biting hard. OEM/generic pads have nothing on these, essential for a heavy car...
  14. welding them is a permanent fix, if for what ever reason that you need to dis assemble the exhaust then a slice with the grinder will free it up, and at that point you can add new flanges and do it the 'propper' way. But chances are the exhaust wont have to come off, so welding it is all good and it lasts unlike the exhaust paste/gumgun that lasts about a month :)
  15. in the end went for ebc red stuff with some new discs... its totally transformed how the car brakes now, minimal fuss and no brake fade
  16. mine were blowing, ended up just getting the welder out and welding the flanges together. job done
  17. Since its been getting cold ive been attempting to use the heated seats, all the heater elements definatly work on all seats but they only get mildly warm and not hot, its a bit pointless really as by the time you have sat down, you've warmed the seat more by body heat than the heater element does! Is there anyway of turning the heater warmth up? is the heater strength in the seats affected by the actual dash heater/blower control switches or is it just a basic on/off system with no room for adjustment? many thanks - 1996 mk3 ls400
  18. im not sure if this is the correct section, but thought id give you guys girst refusal I bought a set of clear rear lights for mk mk3, but couldnt make my mind up if i liked them over standard, so I have a set for sale same as these: Brand new, never used, let me know if youre interested before I ebay them
  19. Hi malc thanks for the comments, its not spotless though, a couple of marks here and there, but I guess it is 14 years old so expectable... the mr2 on the otherhand is 17 and is pretty much spotless :D
  20. Hi Andy, the switch mod was just something I thought of. I got hold of a mk4 switch that does auto up and down for all 4 windows, plugged it in and found that it has the desired effect for the drivers window, but the other 3 windows wouldnt work what so ever. So I took mine and the mk4 to pieces to see if I could make a good 1. Basically all you will need from the mk4 switch is the drivers window 'rocker button' as it allows for further movement on the up shift and you will also need one of the little button pushers that sits between the rocker button and the circuit board. The mk3 circuit board is already set up for auto up so im not sure why lexus didnt just add it as standard :S edit: yes the indicators were brought back from the USA as well as some brake discs.. off there again soon, i wonder what ill bring back next...
  21. I Dont think ive posted any pics of mine yet so here goes... Recently had the front and rear bumpers re-painted, repaired the front splitter and had that painted, added clear front indicators and mk1 MR2 side repeaters, had the wheels stripped back and painted also. I reckon it was on the borderline of going down the slippery slope condition wise before I bought it, so im glad to have put it back to a genuine clean condition once again. The mechanical side it spot on, replaced the bonnet struts, ARB bushes, rear pads, full fluid change including Toyota Type IV, a couple engine oil changes so far, brake fluid, air con regas, power steer fluid, modified the drivers window control switch to allow for 'auto up'. Ive also got a pair of front discs to go on but im still on the hunt for suitable pads... A few pics with my MR2 Turbo before it goes away until next year
  22. Hi folks, looking for some uprated brake pads for my mk3 ls400, any recomendations? The car is subjected to heavy braking from decent speed now and again, so I dont want the new set to fade after a couple of hard uses like the current (stock) set at present. looking for something better than EBC red / green. I would like something the equivalent of EBC yellow, but they only seem to do them for the mk1 + 2. Price not really an issue Cheers
  23. any other ideas on this? do some LS400's have both the round diag port under the dash and a obdII port somewhere (hidden possibly as I cant bloody find it), or is it definatly one or the other? Very dissapointed :(
  24. yes there is an oblong diag port that is located underneath the plastic engine cover :(
  25. Had a look there and all I can see is a circular port, the type that has connections in that you bridge with a paperclip. My car is 100% a mkIII 1996. is it hard to locate as I cant see anything that resembles OBDII dont suppose you have any pics?
