  1. Morrisons LPG.......... I've got to say is dire! I always brim the lpg tank when filling, gives a good indication of the correct mpg, my last tank was filled up at BP and I have to admit that I gave the car HELL for pretty much the whole tank and got back a decent 20mpg The current tank I filled up at morrisons and ive been driving steady, but so far by my trip computer calculations im going to be about 20-30 miles worse off over the whole tank, how can that be other than low quality gas? Its not the first time ive noticed it with morrisons LPG, I only filled up again as I was passing one of their stations and it was convenient, never again....
  2. im near pontefract west yorkshire. the 63.9 fill-up was at a calor gas retailer in Carlton, south yorkshire
  3. good stuff, im not far away from the break even point either. on another note LeedsLPG will NOT fit the filler point behind the fuel flap any more, they say the regulations have changed. I had an Audi 3.0 v6 converted there 2 weeks ago, and they wouldnt even entertain the idea, I begged, pleaded and offered more money/to sign a waiver... but its a no go! Ive never had a real issue with the adapter, other than for some reason one pump just wouldnt release the excess gas! oh..... Filled up the otherday 63.9 :)
  4. The difference with this car is that its a celsior with all the bells and whistles in the back, so its hard to judge value or even reccomend alternatives as there are not many about Rupert is right though, nice mk3's can be had for around that cash which look fresher (IMO) , but its all preference ps..I think colins crying... :)
  5. Get some decent premium brand tyres on, notice the difference and never look back :) you wont regret it
  6. Where do you get your tyre info from? Falken are certainly not budget low end tyres. They are budget tyres. Premium quality tyre manufacturers bridgestone, continental, goodyear, michelin Falken fk452 / 912 etc are pretty much budget, various tyre tests do not favour them either, but thats not suprising
  7. No they dont paint them after powder coat. I professionally sprayed the center caps myself in BMW arctic silver, and the colour match is near as damnit spot on to the coatings
  8. I went to LSN coatings in castleford, which is local to me. They had the wheels for about 4 days, couldnt have asked for a better job, they were in a right state before! http://www.lsn-coatings.co.uk/
  9. Just had my standard 16" wheels dipped and powder coated inside/out.. cost £30 per wheel... amazing job done
  10. Good post bluesman. I've just converted my 150k ls400, but I ran it for 2 years first so I know how reliable it is, I know all its quirks and lastly I know I want to and will keep the car for a good few years, and any problems that do arise I'm confident of sorting them out myself, that's why I went for lpg. I don't think I would lpg a car that I've just bought.
  11. Shame youre a distance away, I've a spare 1997 LS400 you could have swapped parts from to test on yours. Did I read something a while ago about the 2 throttle/shift cables sometimes being out of sync and causing issues?
  12. Nope thats not OBD2 , thats just a Toyota diag port OBD2 looks like this:
  13. Yes I can't believe it too, especially as I feel anyone could do it, it costs pennies and takes about half an hour. I will do a comprehensive guide, in the mean time if anyones needles fail let me know and ill try and give you a quick run through the procedure so you can DIY it.
  14. Yeah halfords do it for £11 ... I used 3 drops! :S I just wish I'd have known about it last year, id have saved £100 on postage plus labour in having them repaired
  15. haha LPG is great! I think im going to do a How-to on fixing these needles, its an easy and inexpensive job, I reckon pretty much anyone could do it...
  16. Thats because I went to the petrol station and just shoved £10 in to make sure the guage still moved properly... (only a tenner as im on LPG........) :) and yes youve got it, electrically conductive paint is the trick!
  17. Hi No they are quite simple, its a 5 minute job 1 ) put the steering wheel in the fully down and out position for better access 2 ) the black trim with the dial dimmer and trip computer buttons.. Pull this towards you to remove and unplug the 2 plugs 3 ) remove the 2 screws holding the dash speedo/binacle 4 ) between the top of the speedo binacle and the main dash, prise the binacle out.. dont forget to use alot of spare rag to protect from scratches 5 ) reach behind the binacle and unplug the 4 plugs 6 ) pull the dash out
  18. There are a few 'solutions' to the blacked out needles, including painting the tips with a uv paint, fishermans float paint etc LOL , but the solution I used/was used on the previous fix isnt documented, and is the only one to provide a working dimming needle as Lexus intended without any visible modification. cheers
  19. I had my rev and mph needles repaired last year, a few days ago my fuel needle decided to black out :( I emailed the guy who repaired the other 2 last year to see if I could book it in again, but impatient waiting for a reply i decided to find out his "secret" With sucess I took the dash out, applied some magic and now its working 100% as it should, dims with the dimmer dial etc... Before After
  20. Ive a chance to buy another LS400 from a family member, but neither of us are clued up on the cars value.. its a 1997 LS400 private plate L400 *** factory painted in rarer light green (6p7) top colour with grey lower standard 16" alloys that have had a lick of paint recently, dunlops on all 4 83,000 miles cambelt done not long ago FSH standard stereo + changer immaculate Grey leather interior very good exterior paintwork everything works as it should optional Lexus wood trim around the air vents/door handles drives perfect, no rattles, no suspension knocks etc MOT jan 2013 tax - october so, any ideas on its value, if not for me to buy, for him to list it on the market...
  21. Any of you guys keep an accurate log of you mpg? I use "FuelLog" on my android phone. so far over 20 fill ups ive averaved 21mpg on gas, on petrol i used to get about 22.5mpg, so I think thats good going bearing in mind lpg isnt as efficient as petrol.
