  1. yes you do need to notify insurance, as it is a modification from oem spec. It made zero difference to my premium :) If you dont notify them and you have a fault claim... wellll..... I very much doubt you'd get a pay out.
  2. Hows everyone getting on with their lpg? any issues yet? mines been spot on so far
  3. Not if Lexus continue to charge silly prices for spare parts for old cars... Why would they change their pricing? the ls400's were £45k plus when they came out, so parts prices are that of a £45k car. Depriciation and age of a car will never be reflected in genuine part prices....
  4. The only thing we have is an agreed limited milage. Classicline are also a good insurance company, between them and flux there was pretty much nothing in it.
  5. If refrigirant is low/empty then the pump will not kick in and the revs wont rise... id be tempted to take it for a leak test at an AC specialist
  6. it sounds like its beeping because its switching back to petrol as at the higher revs/power the lpg system cant meet the demand of the engine. possibly due to the hardware or how the lpg ecu has been mapped. This is something i was fearfull of happening when i had my lpg fitted, as ive read some systems are set up this way, thankfully my set-up meets the engine demands and stays on lpg at any revs at any speed :)
  7. Nope... If the ignition components are in good condition I see no reason to replace them just for LPG, as im aware LPG wont put anymore demand on ignition components than petrol would. Just replace within the regular service schedule and all will be fine.
  8. Yeah I am filling up on milage rather than the gauge, it would just be good if the gauge was more accurate... I just like things to work as they should....
  9. Ive done nearly a 1000 miles and it goes in for its service on monday, so far its been superb and its getting decent ecconomy without trying, performance is identical to being on Petrol. I had the filler behind the flap too, no issues with using an adapter. Only niggle I have is the gauge, 4 green LEDS... the first one goes out pretty much when it should milage wise, the middle two go out in a very short space of time, then the last one lasts a verrrrry long time, I wonder if they can adjust it? did you notice even better economy after the first service? if they altered the map/injectors? filled up today at 69.9 :D
  10. Had my LS400 converted yesterday by Leedslpg, all went well, very neat installation and ive already done about 250 miles. Cant believe how smooth it is, performance doesnt seem to have dropped either which is good... Id reccomend them, well I already have!
  11. Very good, mines going in on wednesday, really looking forward to getting it on lpg. so hows the fit and finish? notice anything they could have made neater and improved on, or is it all good?
  12. I still don't understand how you are able to make the car look younger through the number plate something DVLA will not let you do. When I purchased my private plate it was stated very clearly that I couldn't put a plate on it that was younger than the car. I have a P plate on a 1998 car its original plate was R. Mike quite common on imports, sometimes the DVLA c0ck up and assign a plate from the year of the import rather than the year of the initial registration: such as this one: 1995 car on a 2004 "54" plate
  13. good stuff, what adjustments did they make? when do you have to take the car back again?
  14. an example: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FIAT-126-126P-650E-UNREGISTERED-UNUSED-UNIQUE-CLASSIC-CAR-NEW-NEVER-USED-/260965398704?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item3cc2bff8b0#ht_1122wt_1396&clk_rvr_id=333530581611 buy that today, register it, and itll go on a 61 reg....
  15. there is nothing wrong with a mk3 being on a w reg, all it means is that was the date the car was first registered. There are many cars out there that havent been registered on the year it was manufactured. If you manage to find a 1990 mk1 that hasnt been registered (there may be one out there!) and registered it today, it would go on a new style "61" reg plate.....
  16. Thats great to hear, really looking forward to getting on gas and saving a few £££/£ ;)
  17. Hi, ive just booked my LS400 in at leedslpg for next month, just wondering how your cars going 1 month on... any issues? what mpg reduction are you gettin on gas v's petrol? thanks
  18. Hi, where did you get the upper wishbones from? and whats the quality like if you didnt go for genuine lexus replacements. thanks.
  19. Ive got a spare set of 16" Volk racing group AV's that im refurbishing atm, fronts 7j, rears 8j just wondering whether to sell them on, or if they would look any good on my LS400 heres a photo of the lexus: and heres a random google pic of the rims (exept mine are staggered, so the dish on 2 wheels are alot bigger):
  20. I usually loosen the nut (but leave it on) and then give the wiper arm a good wiggle to break the seal from the tapered end of the wiper mechanism
  21. If you were closer id either fix that for you Nothing on that list is remotely challenging to repair/replace, so I dunno why the garages dont want to do the work.
  22. Last sunday the speedo needle on my mk3 LS400 decided it would black out half way down the needle, obviously we all like a fully working LS so the next day I called Chris Vince from this very forum and asked if he could help. Chris promptly advised me he could and talked me through the procedure. Basically I posted the dials to him and he had them back to me a few days later. While the dials were there Chris also examined the 'working' tacho needle and took the decision to do his magic on that also as a preventative measure to avoid it failing in the near future, as he said it was on its way out anyway. The dials now look and work as Lexus intended, they're like new. They're the same colour/brightness as the fuel/temp, they dim the same, basically its a perfect fix. So in short, a massive thanks to Chris Vince and if you need your dials doing email him at chrisvince@btopenworld.com or call him on 01252540463, and he will be more than happy to help
