Maybe it was an improvement they made to the seats over the different years - I don't think there would be a need to advertise the fact to owners or new owners. My wife has a Vauxhall and has leather seats and the leather in the bolster area is worn and dreadfull.

My last one had black leather and i liked that - this colour is different and it has grown on me. Never liked the light colours for the fact that I had thought they would get dirty. Time will tell. I have used different cleaners in the past but while they did bring off the dirt from the black leather there was no real difference once cleaned, guess the colour of the leather hid the dirt. I will be looking for as good cleaner however to keep on top of these though. To be honest, around the bolster area, the black leather did seem tougher than this colour but leather is leather so I am presuming Lexus just spec'd different colours for the models.

Grey leather with a black carpet - I think the combination goes well. For a 12 year old car these are immaculate

Honestly - its an easy job - I re-greased the ones on my new car and it took about 10 mins per wheel - glad I done it as the grease was a bit black. 2 bolts to remove on each of the fronts and one on each of the backs. Get into the routine of doing it as its needed at least one a year and spending 1 hour doing them at no cost is better than spending around £1k replacing all corners. BUT - if you are not confident in doing them best leave to a garage as after all the brakes are vital.

I thought not but could not imagine the owner changing them to these - I might take to my usual MOT centre to see if they would pass. I may just change back to a more reasonable colour as they ARE very blue in the dark!! I have just checked the lights on mine - looks like the side light (small bulb on the side of the headlight as in your second picture) has been changed Your replacement in the first picture looks really bright - is that from the side light (I take it the side light is located on the side of the light?!) Any idea what the bulb should be ? -
Rubber grease is available from the Lexus Birmingham ebay shop - message them and they will put one on sale for you. You can, I imagine, get this from a Lexus dealer (toothpaste size tube for around a tenner)

I am happy with mine, "does what it says on the tin". The wire that comes with it is more than long enough (at around 4 metres) to wire it to the armrest. I didn't want to hardwire it in just in case it drained the battery when it sat for long periods (airport car parks etc), I am sure it wouldn't but didn't want to chance it. this one has a built in battery that powers the cam when its parked up and does it quite well to be honest.
-
Seems odd that the connection to the light would come off ... Possibly it is linked to a running down battery if the sill light is continually on for some reason and the previous owner has disconnected it (if car is new to you that is) ... its worth a check just for peace of mind and also to save a battery purchase

Theres nothing real major on the MOT history check - looks like the tyres and brakes have had a hard life. A coolant leak may suggest water pump failure so check its been done or it does not need doing yet as its around the mileage to expect the pump failure although owners have reported them lasting longer ... a full service history is good - ask where its been serviced and get in touch with the centre to check two things (water pump replacement) & (spark plug replacement) To be honest asking £6k for a 2006 model at 70k miles is a bit pricey - I would imagine that's way over book price but has been priced high due to its condition not the age of the car. It looks tidy though but don't expect to get anything near what you pay for it when you come to sell If it was me, I would leave it or try to bring the price down. More will come up and its a case of waiting for them.

The dash cam is a Nextbase 112 - nothing fancy and it does the job. Small enough to just hide behind the mirror (although a bit does stick out). Plugged into the armrest socket as I don't use it for anything and the camera plug just fits with the armrest down. It served the purpose when I was hit from behind recently as it showed I was stationery waiting to enter a roundabout queue before I was hit. The only wires showing are where it connects to the dash cam but this is routed around the mirror so its minimal. Have had it for a year or so with no issue, so can say its reliable - have used the footage a few times and the quality is good. It has a knock sensor that automatically activates itself when the car is hit (auto records when it detects the cars been hit). Set to medium it is sensitive to turn itself on when you open / close the boot or the car doors. Not faulted it yet. Not expensive, Halfords have these for £49 at the moment. I did have it disconnected a few times when I collected it from airport parking after holidays which I thought strange but no mileage issues and no damage so I don't know what goes on there. If its just a no frills functional camera you are after then I can recommend this one...

Brake oil
is200 Newbie replied to jackcramerr's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
I have used Dot 4 and looking back its been around a 2 year replacement. I fitted a K&N oiled filter when I bought the last car (5 years ago) but having looked at the current prices at around £50 each I think I will stick to the paper ones for the time being as I will not get the cost back if replacing it with an oiled one anymore. I am sure the last one I fitted cost me around £20 which was well worth the money - cant believe the price increase on these ...!
