  1. can't see pics Jalil!?? Also with the conversion, there are ones that convert the kmh readings to mph but don't affect the existing odometer (but everything after this will be in miles) and there are the more expensive units that will convert everything (all the past km done into miles also) Someone correct me if I'm wrong! :P
  2. they are essentilly the same aesthetically One thing I have noticed is the number of people with IS200's looking for the extra performance, I guess its the refinement and drive of the IS and the crave of the power also.
  3. I'm looking at Altezzas now. (again) Basically I've gone full circle and probably have wasted everyones time :winky: Nah not really as I appreciatee everyones input so far. Accord is out, would possibly consider the new accord Euro R (but not available here and out of budget), the old accord type r is over shadowed by the new and what puts me off is the superunleaded requirement. As I'm young-ish I do like a a firm ride and not overly worried about luxuries too much - aircon and cd player electric windows suit me fine. I'll have to check the poll results to confirm but I think the Tezza is probably the one I'm looking at. Still don't disregard the others though!
  4. Cheers, no rush wiith the pics, no car as of yet!
  5. Shotwood sounds sweet......if I EVER get my Tezza would you be inclined to part with your GAB's? I haven't heard of them, but if my next car has std coilovers then that would be a possiblilty! got any pics??
  6. clutching on straws aren't we :P So what are your thoughts Colin?
  7. Jalil, Have been doing a search on the web and one guy had problems with emissions on an import RAV4 rav4 import also some info on a japanese website. They offer the ESVA beofre shipping, they have some info there on emissions and other sva stuff This may be of use to some of you importers, AltezzaScott and Supracharged?? japanese firm offering ESVA at japan before shipping I think a search on toyota owners club may be of use? or any import owners clubs? Hope this helps!
  8. Mark The Accord is out because although a great handling FWD car I feel I want to experience a RWD, plus 2 Type-R's in the household?!?!? c'mon! Although I think the accord's look good they are no match for the newer accord and obviously the IS wipes the floor wi th it! Also in terms of accord community........ there isn't one ;) or is there? If so someone show me? IS/ALTEZZA community is good with all the group buys, discounts and knowledge here, enough said Good work Moderators and people who contribute etc!! From the comments here I'm more inclined towards the Tezza as I would prefer a little more speed over luxury. mark what, where and how much was your front bumper?
  9. I hope they give you your maxpower stickers for the feature :P :winky: any clues as to what other magazines?
  10. Put it onto retention asap It takes 4 weeks to get the paper work back (Retention certificate AND new V5) And this is after you get a letter back saying they have recieved your document and give you your new registration marque and amended MOT and TAX, unless you take it to your local DVLA office. Check the DVLA website for your nearest one. EDIT** to be clearer: If you go to your local DVLA office with form and documents etc, once thats put through, they will give you document stating the change and amend your tax and MOT there and then. The temp doc allows you to get your new plates made up. From this point onwards, it will take 4 weeks to get new V5 AND retention certificate!! EDIT This may delay the sale of the car AND the plate. thats my advice, hope that's of any use to you ps I think after 12months retention it's not £105 to extend, a bit less
  11. ok will probably try BIMTA cheers!
  12. Hi, Just a question about finding history on a japanese import. If a car is imported in with no past documents or auction sheet is there any way to find out the history of the vehicle? I have been told BIMTA do something? I thought that they could check the mileage before the car was shipped out from japan and hence varfy the mileage, but what about service history and more importantly accident damage? Any ideas? Cheers Oliver
  13. guys Badges mean nothing to me so can we stop on quit it on that topic. One thing's for sure, Honda out........Toyota or Lexus it will be (Something to do with this forum )
  14. If you you are looking to get someone to do the legwork, I would speak to either AltezzaScott or Supercharged IS340 <------- I think thats his online name If there's something they don't know, it's not worth knowing.
  15. Ive been driving in a 9 year old car with a TRUST exhaust and that car was pretty loud and pretty rattly - I think the altezza would be luxury for me! :) Shotwood, thanks for the offer mate I'm in Essex but if I am in that area I would love to take her out for thrashing.......... I mean gentle sunday drive. If anything I reckon I would be tipped over towards the altezza from the test drive ;) AltezzaScott...........Yes I know your opinion..... I think everyone knows your opinion of the SXE10! :P Jasear..........You have pm What auction grade was it? Seems as though you had some serious problems, not something I've read about often on here. I generally thought most Altezzas are pretty bulletproof. I'll have a search on this forum. Cheers again for the imput.
  16. bloody hell At first I was edging towards the IS, then the Accord, now back to the Altezza! (thanks Shotwood) :duh: I'm wasting my time here! lol :P No..... seriously, thanks for your imput so far guys. Keep them coming! Are you offering...... again
  17. Well I have finally sold my FTO and need a family saloon. I have narrowed down my options to the 3 above and need some help deciding which one. Originally I intended to get the Altezza, but my budget doesn't really give me a huge deal of options in terms of choice etc. I could import one in but that would mean 3months wait?? Now I am considering an accord type r (As the wifes car is a civic type R and love the vtec) EDIT! To give people a better understanding of what I want. If I talk abut the Altezza first: I like the Altezza for the looks, as they are proabably the best looking saloons out there (RX8's aren't considered a saloon in my eyes!) I like some performance not super quick but not really the deciding factor, there's also the rarity of a car. Hence why I went for the FTO originally, now having had that car for nearly 3 years I found a few issues that will also be an issue with an Altezza. Servicing (although some lexus/toyota dealers may do this) Will it run forever? (like a Lexus?? Not too sure) Resale was a problem as I even considered part exing it for something else as I found it a pain to sell and I lost quite a bit of money on the FTO, from buying it at it's peak i.e. lack of choice and high prices, now look at the prices now! I feel the Altezza 'may' follow the same route as they get more popular. The Accord Looks good (not as muscular as the lexus, but aint' no heffer) Performance pretty good, allthough needs Superunleaded all the time (I've been told) Servicing isn't a problem Resale value.... not too sure (but hindered by the new accord and possible Type R in a few years time??) Thirsty from a 2.2l IS200 Good looking car Good servicing Costly to run?? Will run forever (like all Lexus'!) Bad fuel economy compared to Altezza (I'm assuming it's similar to the FTO as that was a v6) Performance lowest of the 3 Resale values? Do they hold their price? Plenty of choice out there I need to consider: Servicing and maintainence Cost of ownership (ties in with above?) Re-sale value (hence why I'm considering an IS as I feel imports are still not as easy to sell?) Performance Practicallity Fuel Economy Anyway let me know your thoughts and comments. All appreciated! Cheers
  18. you're right they aren't very clear! Can't make out 'jack'! Still a nice car tho! :)
