  1. The Altezza is different to the IS' apparently?? Mark, TOAD or Clifford, makes no difference according to alarms fitters (search CARALARMS and UK in google to find them) Is there an internal central locking button that locks all doors when inside? Does this still lcck all the doors? Also I'm thinking that this crude method wiill render the existing toyota remote fob useless as the solenoids will be controlled by the 'new' alarm
  2. thre were talks that the new R35 skyline will be based on this...... Skyline G35 coupe............yum
  3. Ok gents, Thanks for you input! Seems like some have had issues and others have not. I think it all depends on the installer. I had another conversation with them yesterday and the issue is that the central locking controller is wired up to the ECU (this was confirmed through clifford technical centre) I asked if they could bypass the toyota locking mechanism and they said it is possible but not advisable (clifford backed this up) They said the ECU would need to be removed and modified (A route I'm not willing to take) This would be the proper way although not advised. The other option which I believe some have taken, is to disregard the OEM central locking and wire up relays directly to the solenoids...... this is a "crude and nasty way" and that this is what your "old fiestas would do when there is no central locking, not on a lexus" (Their words) Now is it me or does having to carry round 2 fobs and having to blip one after another even more pikey?? I asked how much this 'cruder' way of doing things would cost and it would cost £120 plus VAT........... I believe there are cheaper places, so will probably leave it for now and do it another time when funds allow I guess......... Can you guys give me the alarm fitters names and contact numbers?? As I would like a second opinion, pls drop it here on ain a PM please! Cheers SteveAudioX> i take it you are speaking about the Altezza right?
  4. What type of bodykit are you after? Do a quick search and most likely you'll come up with japanese sourced kits. Then you can probably ask TDI or Taka Kaira?

  8. May phone up these guys? http://pages.zoom.co.uk/stiimports/ Based in thornbury just outside Bristol, I did some work experience there and they knew their stuff about Imprezas and evo's (this was about 4-5 years ago) They also remapped ECU's (had some fun in some imprezas there!) Website not the best tho' Bristol import centre may help? http://test.nepsecure.co.uk/b/bristolimportcentre/index.htm
  9. Jalil, Did you try that Hyline place i gave a link to?? Also there's a place called Vpec performance but they are in Pontypridd Also..........thinking out loud, there maybe some places in Bristol too....... get asking on the Toyota owners club forums, skyline owners club, fto owners club, any import owners forum.
  10. Wow.......... expensive? Feck I'd say!!! All internals: Conrods, pistons, valves, cams, crankshaft, flywheel!! Alex........sounds right up your street............... Nice gains and good find tho
  11. Hi I have been phoning around and asking about getting a CAT1 alarm. I have been told by an alarm company that for the central locking to be activitated via the arming and disarming of the alarm (i.e. blip alarm fob - lock and arm and vice versa) I will need to shell out some extra money as the altezza's central locking is somehow linked to the ecu and would cost £100 or so.......... Not 100% sure what the feck they are talking about but could someone let me know if they have heard this or have a cat1 alarm installed on a tezza that 'works' Any ideas appreciated! Oliver
  12. I didn't like the front bumper at first (looking from your avatar) but on looking at the full size pics.........looks ill.....nice one also agree with Mark about the decals
  13. HKS turbo for 3SGE info: There are 2 types GT-SS and the GT-RS HKS (GT-SS specification) 233kW (317PS) 327N m (33.4kgf m) /4,950rpm HKS (GT-RS specification) 273kW (372PS) 360N m (36.7kgf m) /5.050rpm Compared to the standard: NA car (V Pro specification) 160kW (218PS) 207N m (21.2kgf m) /4,030rpm And the 280T: 280T (limited car) 212kW (288PS) 297N m (30.3kgf m) /4,030rpm
  14. Altezzas dont come with alarms, So I would recommend getting a CAT1 alarm that will come with 2 fobs and you can arm and remotely lock the car in one go, just like the IS you test drove. Why not get the power folding mirrors to auto-fold when locking too ;)
  15. If the engine doesn't have the big BEAMS lettering across the engine then you have the AS200. Check the chassis number: SXE10 = RS200 GFE10 = AS200 = IS200 (I think!) Well there are 2 ways to alter the speedo, the cheap way and the more expensive way. The cheap way just changes everything after the conversion, so the display shows mph and odometer records in miles now. This doesn't alter the previous recorded distance travelled i.e. still km The other way does everything even the past distance travelled, ie it will show mileage done. Sounds like you have the first way. Nothing wrong with that, as I had that on my FTO! You may need some proof like a certificate or document for resale purposes. in terms of emissions, SVA is far stricter (ASk Jasear! :) than MOT so as Scott said if you dont tamper with CAT you should be ok for further MOT's (unless this changes drastically!) Hope this helps as I'm waiting for mine too! :D
  16. Do you have any links to pics? Also may be a stab in the dark......BUT do you know anything about HKS using an Altezza for drifting events? Cheers Oli
  17. Shotwood> I'm closer to getting there but still no altezza in my garage. the GAB's were very nice although f**k off stiff!! (Handles soooo well with them, hope your new coilovers are just as sweet) They are traders and the price is pretty much fixed (much to my disappointment) I'm tempted to get one imported, instead of wasting time pondering over little things and logging on to autotrader EVERYDAY! BTW do you have to put a certain octane rated petrol in your car seeing as it's a aftermarket ECU?
  18. No signs of knocking over VERY bumpy surfaces amplified by the super stiff GAB coilovers, could this still be ball joints? Agreed.......
  19. Whitie> The year of car is a 99. I'm sure the noise was made towards the end of the test drive. It didn't happen while driving along the roads, only when I made that certain manouver. I.e. stop, reverse full lock, stop, forward full lock, then as I come to a stand still (coming out of junction) it made the noise. When I was flooring it in all gears and braking for bends etc there was no noise.... I should have mentioned it, but the price was too much anyway (guy wouldn't budge) KSP, Whitie & AltezzaScott> I was hoping my train of thought was right, in thinking it was the brakes somehow cheers gents....:ooh-ducky: Next........ 60k miles an issue??
  20. Well, as you know I've been looking at Altezzas and located one which wasn't too far away from me. I popped down there on saturday to see this gorgeous Altezza.......... I was offered a test drive and took her out. The car is soooooo nice to drive, the response was good and in total honesty it drove nicer than the wifey's Civic Type R, in terms of handling and speed. The car did have a few mods that I'm aware of but may have had more. GAB coilovers, Aftermarket exhaust as far as I know. The ride was stiff, the exhaust note was loud. It was schweeeeeeet. I want. The only concerns to me were the mileage and a strange 'snapping' noise it made (once) a) The mileage was about 60k miles, do I need to be concerned about this?? (no service history B) The 'cracking' noise occured only once. It was felt and heard in the following scenario: When I reversed full lock in one direction, stopped went forward in full lock in other direction and as I went to stop to a stand still (applying brakes) it made a knocking/cracking noise as the calipers gripped and stopped. I don't have a clue what made that noise but it only happened that one time that I made that manouver and just as I stopped. Any ideas???? Sorry I can't explain it better :( Do I need to be concerned - I haven't made the purchase yet...........
  21. certified immobiliser = CAT2 certified alarm and immobiliser = CAT1 Had a TOAD on mine, pretty good....... but agree with the AVITAL for price, personally I am looking at Clifford concept 300 (cheapest Clifford CAT1 I think) Or TOAD AI600 (which is what I had for 3 years no problems and most are capable of the extra facilities like tilt and motion sensor, glass break sensor, remote boot release (is you haven't got that) intelli start, full closure etc etc
  22. Jalil, As you're based in Cardiff, perhaps speak with these guys about SVA etc?? Hyline
  23. Anyone fancy a mini meet in HK then?
  24. In HK.......... got to mong kok, there's a 4/5 floor centre that does all sorts of pc software and dvds all dodgy. There's also a few streets that sell car bits like stereos and air fresheners ?? I'm sure they do lots of TRD and TOM's stuff too (Near the Train station).... wouldn't mind going back there myself :(
