  1. I think the retention thing is a pain. I might ask the guy to keep hold of the registration marque and then once I get my car to ask him to tranfer the marque over to my car (getting him to sign something and explain to him etc) Either that or: I can transfer the car to my missus car. If thats the case, you say they can do it while you wait, so maybe thats the other option for me. I basically need to do the quickest way. How long is the while you wait thing?
  2. FMRL> So you sold the car and handed over the keys and the vehicle, while waiting for the V5 documents and hence new reigstration marque to come through? (This would be ideal, however I'm not sure a total stranger would do this?) MUDZS> I think this is probably the only route that is acceptable from his point of view and as you point out also cheaper. However if he agrees to transfer to my vehicle, (when I get it) will he be the registered keeper, even though it will be on my car?
  3. Well I wanted some opinions and some advice on a private plate transfer. DVLA weren't too helpful, I was wondering if any of you have any experience in a transfer of a registration marque. Here's the scenario: Selling car with a private plate on and I want to keep the marque. TO put it on retention DVLA say I need to fill out a form and give details of TAX MOT etc and either send it to the DVLA or take it to a DVLA centre. After that they form will then be processed and they say I will need to wait 4 WEEKS!! before I get a new V5 document through i.e. I can't sell it until then!! I have a buyer, I don't think he will wait 4 weeks, what are my options? a) sell it with the marque (means nothing to the car) and ask him to put it on retention?(I think he will be the registered keeper to the marque tho ??) B) put it on retention and sell the car (give the car to him and explain to him that once I get the details through I'll change the new owner section and post everything to him. c) transfer to another car? With the likes of partexing a car with a private plate, how come they can transfer the plate pretty quickly?? I'm sure it took like a week to sort out. Any ideas?? I hope someone can help advise as I want to get looking for my 'new' car asap Thanks in advance Oliver
  4. Hi, just wodering if anyone can confirm and/or give details about price increase (due to more stingent laws) to post '97 cars?? I heard it affects different models iand so any ideas how that affects the altezza? any details AltezzaScott or Mat?? Cheers oli
  5. Sounds sweet. Get some pics up pls! Who and where did you import it from if you don't mind me asking (Perhaps I'll PM you instead)
  6. car didn't sell. reached 1.1 mill yen. Obviously didn't reach it's reserve price
  7. Must admit if I saw that 'rear end' I wouldn't have thought it was a fugly altezza, just a fugly merc! :P Good resemblance though..... Those crazy japanese doods eh? Without them we wouldn't be seeing 1000bhp plus road cars.......
  8. Matt...... I don't think there are too many of those fine examples! here and here hope this works! :yack: :yack: :yack: Altezzaz> no probs I think I sorted it. Also hows the 'car' thing going? sourced one yet?
  9. Well...... was browsing the net and came across this altezza - if you can call it that! It basically is a cross bred Altezza and CLK hybrid. I have pics if someone can host or tell me where to upload?? Mercedes front grill, mercedes rear lights and rear bumper, JDM Altezza lights.) Up for auction at the moment if anyone is interested (perhaps Matt has seen it??)
  10. I have an FTO GPX and I'm looking (looking for a LONG time) for the right IS/Altezza. Being used to imports and getting some good feedback (from this forum :P ) I settled in looking for the right Altezza. I don't know what your reasons are for looking at the IS but for me it's the extra doors! (baby boy of 4 weeks old! B) ) The FTO is good handler, I haven't driven an IS but I would guess the ride is smoother and less firm. I have been driven out in one and they feel exactly how I want, a sporty saloon that is practical and a good looking car. (thanks again Altezzaz - you still looking for a different motor?) Both have the good looks, Altezzas are rarer and understated, FTO's great handling and good engine...... all depends what you want from your car really (plus people here will be biased! Have you asked in the FTO owners forum the same question?? Alan Partidge come up?? :) If I was looking at a a sports coupe I would look at 200sx S15 or a R34 skyline GTT!!!!!
  11. Check out THIS I know Plusnet are good and have some good packages depending on what you want. 512k for £19 (I think) but that doesn't support P2P or kazaa like file sharing. I play command and conquer zero hour on a 56k and it seems ok on 1v1s I think 256k is sufficient for most but as many have said, 512 is minimum for consoles.
  12. I'll take one too unless it's more than £30
  13. I'm in a different scenario where I'm looking for something with 4 doors........I have an FTO GPX (trying to sell!) that has MIVEC (mitsubishi's version of VTEC) and the missus has a Civic Type R. Now I've driven both and also had the opportunity to sit in an Altezza RS200, now although I haven't driven the Altezza it feels pretty potent, the engine is very free revving and the ride is 'comfortable' (not luxurious like an IS) and yet it is pretty has a pretty sport stance. Now the FTO handles well, minimum body roll and feels composed through corners, the CivR handles amazing for the high centre of gravity, it has plenty of grip (in the dry) it does suffer from a little torque steer...... but it is blindingly quick I agree with some people that a Lexus IS200/300 is a different car to the CivR as they were aimed at different markets, but the closest comparison, would be between an Accord Type R and an RS200. I love the TypeR and hence looked at an Accord Type R for more doors, 'racing' engine and understated looks. In doing so I looked at other japanese saloons and have always liked the looks of the IS but wanted more performance. Like many people i have a budget and IS300 would be too expensive but an imported RS200 was within my bracket............ I would have to say I am looking to get an Altezza RS200 purely for a similar experience to the CivR but a bit more grown up. Also Rear wheel drive!!!!! Look at what you want from your car but for me the Altezza is a good price, has a lean racing engine, 4 doors, some comfort, subtle yet handsome looks ( ) and a great forum here!! :winky: PLUS will go GOLD when I eventually..........get one...... HTH Oli

    Hmmph

I dont know whether Blaupunkt are at the top end of car stereos but I know that Alpine, Pioneer, Kenwood are the better manufacturers of stereo. It all depends on whether you really have to have a CD changer in the dash! If it were my decision I would probably go for a mp3 player and if need be a changer in the glove box. As you are probably aware not many manufacturers tend to make in dash cd changers. I recall Alpine do a 3 disc single DIN unit one. otherwise you're limited to a Blaupunkt HU and the Blaupunkt slave (disc changer) £200 for HU and £165 for changer and about £50-60 for installing it I reckon...........

Hey Altezzas nice avatar! :winky: Personally I would get an aftermarket MP3 player then you could put 10-20 albums on one disc and wont need a changer! If you wanted to go down the double din route get a HU and a slave unit (MD player - Kenwood) but I take it you want a cd changer in dash jobbie Then....... Blaupunkt do one: http://www.bluespot.co.uk/stock/idc_a09.asp or VDO http://www.firebond.co.uk/icemart/itm00070.htm How much does a NEW lexus one cost??
  16. Hi, was in Lakeside on the weekend and happened to see a Black Altezza with a big (ish) rear wing. I looked closer and noticed a S200 badge on the left rear and the Altezza on the right. Now I'm guessing the owner might have just stuck this badge on there but was wondering if anyone has heard of an Altezza S200 The no. plate also included S200........... a bit strange to go that far if it wasn't genuine???
  17. nice one on the RS200! I want one!!! and am looking to get rid of my FTO then get one. Well about the exhaust, have you got down and had a look to see if there are any tell tale signs??? I was shocked to see a TRUST exhaust on my FTO and being an import you may have some tasty bits on it that you're unaware of! So have you had it long? Where abouts did you get it from............ sorry for all the questions, just curious :P
  18. Hi Zee Yeah I will DEFINITELY join that GOLD club...... (mmmmm....gold......) Once I have an Altezza! That is one sweet IS you have there! Very nice....... Can anyone else confirm about the exhaust?? Mat? (Supracharged)
  19. qucik question about whether the Altezza RS200 has the same exhaust as the IS200?? Someone just asked me the question about obtaining parts for their RS200, basically dodgy exhaust and needs to replace. Lexus dealer gave a long waiting time, so want to a) see if they can get a second hand IS200 exhaust and replace with that B) Get an aftermarket one, if so where from? Cheers Oli
  20. Cool! I am in the process of getting one. Where from and how much if you don't me asking! :)

    Altezza_alarm

Hi Sounds like your alarm is pretty knackered! Do you know what make it is??? I'm pretty sure that most Japanese imports don't have alarms on them as in Japan its not a requirement. My FTO didn't have one and I know alot of Japanese importers put them on when they sell them to joe public. Have a CAT1 alarm on it now as it's a good thing to have to lower your insurance premium (unless your's already CAT 1) IMO I would get a new one installed as you want to protect your p&j!!
  22. Hi, Dont know what help I can be but, The Altezzas in japan are not all 4 cylinders, some have the 6 cylinder ones as per uk IS. The 4 cylinder RS200 has chassis number SXE10 and the 6 cylinder GXE10 In terms of insurance I would have thought it was comparable to a UK IS or maybe a little more. 1) Not sure about navigation, perhaps you could get the Name of manufacture and moddel spec and email them direct to see if it's simple updated EU disc or otherwise 2) I doubt you would have reliabilty issues as it's Lexus! secondly you'll probably lose some performance over a manual as the transmission will sap some power from it, compared to a normal manual box 3) I would doubt you'd have issues when getting parts, you could check with your local lexus/toyota dealer once you have a chassis number. A lexus dealer near myself will service an Altezza (Ask Altezzas) so I'm assuming parts won't be a problem (I don't have an Altezza yet but have been doing some ground work!) 4) Can I ask why you want to get an imported IS?? As my reason for getting an import is to get the higher performance RS200 with 210 BHP as it's not available here. If you want an IS I would get a UK one. Unless it's cheap or otherwise.......
  23. what about this one?? What's this got?? http://auto.db-appli.com/cbn1.php?sid=0157...d=1017&basho=NG
  24. I know! I dont have that money right now!!!!!!! Anyone lend me any money!?!?!!? check your pm btw!
  25. That TRUE!?!!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?! I think I'm going to CRY!!! Mat, I can you make bids from all auctions?? CANTER> Thanks for the translation and everything but I feel now.......... If only I have that money right now........
