  1. Can't go wrong with Toyo T1 Proxes mate or Bridgestones ...
  2. Mudz is nearly right - the originals were 245/40/18 ZR tyres (Pirelli P Zeros if I remember correctly) the other numbers relate to the size of the wheels, the standards were 8.5x18" wheels with an offset of ET 35...42 the 10x18 relates to the 'optional' wider wheels for the rear which are like rocking horse dung ... I do have a set of Sport wheels with tyres but don't want to sell at the mo' (just bought a set of replacements - see post on for sale/wanted ) Tip: Don't get bigger tyres than quoted above as it will foul the wheel arches ... ;)
  3. Falkens are ok - nice and cheap but loud ! Have Dunlop 9000's on at the mo coz I got them free with my nice new wheels (see other thread about wheels for sale !!!) ;) I prefer the Toyos which I have on my Pug 4bie but also had Bridgestones on my old Prelude which were the mutz nutz !!!
  4. Thanks Colin - confirmation of 5x114.3 but does not mention ET (or have I mised it ?) Cheers again
  5. I think that you'll find that if it's the correct offset then size shouldn't matter the ET will often be quoted within a range e.g. in this case ET35... 42 regardless of size which in this case all GS/LS/RX have the same ET of between 35 ... 42
  6. Colin - info was 'copied' from a site, doesn't matter as long as correct offset - didn't see anybody spring to help when I asked the question though ...
  7. S'alright - I've found it out meself, if anybody wants to know it's :- 16x6.5", 5x114.3, ET 35, 225/70/16, 60.1 CB and both LS and RX wheels are the same as GS wheels.
  8. Anybody know what it is and if wheels on an RX300 will fit ? Cheers ...
  9. Yeah I agree - just be careful with Powerflow, left my Accord with a Powerflow dealer (not Top Gear) and when I came back they certainly went to town on it - huge twin DTM's (which made the backend look naff) and the sound was like a Boeing on takeoff. The welds looked like I'd had a go (blindfolded) with me trusty welder (read Zippo lighter) and it started to rust (!) after a couple of months ... there's a couple of other places you may want to consider like Rage Exhausts (I think they're based in Liverpool ?) or try a Mongoose system from Collins Performance in Crewe
  10. Lexus Jim - Gary C (thread starter) recommends Wilmslow tyres in er ... Wilmslow ??? Got an address Gary C ? Need mine doing as it's all over the place ...
  11. It's not the caliper sticking - I know, I had to have it replaced before ! Overtightened nuts sounds plausible but creeping to brake ? All I know is that it's costing a fortune what with the tyres/discs and pads. I know it's a big heavy car but this takes the pees ... Rodders - where id you get the DBA discs from/how much and are they any good ? I forgot to mention that mine's a '95 series 1 Sport so do DBA do them for this vehicle ? Cheers for any help guys ...
  12. Would suggest so wouldn't it ? Dunno for sure as I've not had time to take a proper look at it yet ... if this is the case - anybody suggest decent discs and pads ? I'm not sure Lexua ones are any better judging from some of the threads I have read about them warping ...
  13. Sorry to Hijack thread but I can sympathise with Jennifer, my car vibrates/shakes when I break ... the harder I press on the pedal then the more violent it shakes (though not under 40mph ?). Easy - new brakes and discs I hear you say but get this - I changed new discs and pads all round under 1k ago !!! The front discs were warped and needed new pads and everything was ok for the first few hundred miles then the vibration hit with a vengeance and now I don't even want to drive the car, settling for my 14 year old Peugeot instead !!! The discs and pads weren't Lexus originals but OEM German stuff from a local motor factors - anybody recommend something decent instead ? Can anyone shed some light as to what could be wrong ? (before you ask - yes I did bed them in properley !) Anybody HEEEEELP !!!
  14. Gary C - can't be looking too hard as I've got one and there are a few 'Sports' here in North Manchester ... Watch out for jealous T.W.A.T.S though as I've just had mine keyed over 3 panels - incidentally drove past a GS300 in Altrincham and his was keyed in the same place :duh: Strangely enough though I get more comments/praise/questions driving my 13 yearl old Peugeot 405 Mi16v 4x4 !!!
  15. Something else which will wobble - a kerbed/potholed wheel - just switched over the front with a rear and voila £1000 saved ...
  16. are you talking about the pins on the rear calipers that go across the top OR the pins that allow the front calipers to slide with the brake pad wear ( the ones with the little rubber gaiters) ????????????? I'm talking about the pins that allow the calipers to slide (with the little rubber boots) :duh: Pee J I doubt either any motor factors or indeed HalFrauds will stock 'em - been quoted by Lexus for £8 + VAT each !!! plus a couple of quid (plus VAT) for the rubber boots !!! That's after they ripped me £35 for a few pad retaining clips (read as bits of wire) !!! Surely there must be a cheaper alternative to dealer only ? I think there's a place in Warrington called Bentley's or something ? :yack:
  17. Anybody done a workshop on "Removing the guidepin bolts on the calipers without snapping them" Cuz that's exactly what's happened to me ... anyone know where I can get these from (apart from Lexus) that is ...
