  1. You can change how the car locks in the setting somewhere, it's quite easy to do, even for me. I did it a while back because I found that often the boot would not open when I wanted it too. I changed the settings so it opens all the time now.
  2. My tank of petrol has varied from 29mpg to 36mpg since I have owned the car, my average now being 32.9. But a lot of my trips are of very short duration which is why I am under the average. This happened with my last car too. On my last fill up, at one point I was doing 27mpg, but then on a 140 mile round trip I did 37mpg, so depending on the type of trip, speed, temp etc it can vary hugely. My worst mpg is when I just pop to the gym on a cold morning and I barely get over 25mpg, my best being on a 25 mile round trip on A and B roads, which I do once a fortnight, which returns 40mpg.
  3. Yup, I agree, I am loving my NX as well. My wife is too and she is very hard to please, in fact she often beats me to the driving seat, grrrrr. It feels special every time I sit in it, it brings a smile to my face. :)
  4. That sure is a stunning looking car. Enjoy. :D
  5. I owned a CT for almost five years. I loved the car except for the ride which for me was a bit firm. Some like a firm ride, not me, I like to be cosseted. Maybe a 'ride mode' option would be nice. Soft, normal, firm. I never had Sat Nav in my CT, I have now in my NX, but it needs to be easier to use, I still find it takes too much knob pushing and turning to get what I want. And no simple way to turn the voice off and on. A plug in would be brilliant, even if it only managed 25-30 miles before you used petrol, but that is not going to happen. A factory fitted Dash Cam. I am sure we will start to see these in more new cars soon. Fridge Glove box. Slightly more legroom in the back seats. That's it.
  6. Nice looking car, I expect it drives well too, but when I specked one up to match what I have on my NX it was £10k more!
  7. All a bit technical for me. As I mentioned, I will try it out and see if it makes any difference. I doubt I will notice any difference myself, but I will try it anyway, the extra cost is so small it's not worth worrying about.
  8. All manufactures say that, blame the Government. However, the manufacturers do the test themselves using Government guidelines that can be, and are, abused by all manufacturers. The guidelines are due to be changed in 2017 I think, to produce more accurate figures, although now the manufacturers are saying that date can't be met. The fact they have known about it for several years seems to fall on deaf ears. The recent VW scandal may force it through now though, but if they can get out of it they will. Yes, the USA figures are much more accurate, so if they can do it, so can the UK and Europe. Or check http://www.fuelly.com I think Rayaan has it right. it appears that using Super does help clean the engine to help it run smoother, and it is supposed to increase MPG very slightly, about 5%, so the same increase in cost. I will try using it once every 4th fill up and see how it goes. I'll report back.
  9. I've seen various mentions on this subject, so thought it may be worth its own thread. So far I have only used 'Normal Unleaded' in my NX, is it worth using 'Super Unleaded'? I have heard various things, some say it makes no difference unless it is a high performance car, some say it will help keep the engine clean and will give extra MPG and some say just use it once every 4-5 fill ups to help the engine. I have no idea which is right. Thoughts?
  10. Yup, me too. I don't use ECO mode, it feels slightly under-powered when I do and for such little return. Mind you, I also don't use Sport mode much either, just for overtaking if I need the extra power, which is very rarely. I have noticed when I do leave it in sport mode the MPG drops a lot. I have not done a real test but the other day I did 5 miles in Sport mode and was doing about 28 MPG, but when I went to normal mode it went up to 37 MPG! Also, I find sport mode makes the car less relaxing to drive. Okay, it's probably me, I do like to drive more sedately these days, but we want different things from our cars don't we. :)
  11. Forgot to say. I have read that most find the off-road ability of the NX very good, the rear wheel traction being better than a lot of other (so called) off-roaders. It will not be as good as any Range Rover SUV mind, they are the best for that job. I do like the NX in Mesa Red, I was very tempted myself. Although to be honest, all the NX colours look nice. :)
  12. Good right up and I agree with what you say about the car. For me, it is extremely comfortable to sit in and it's a nice place to be. I drive at a sedate speed mostly, and the car is best driven that way in my opinion. However there is power there when needed, although some would not like the whiny engine noise when pressed, but it does not bother me. The infotainment system is not a class leader, in fact it needs improving, but it does do most of what I want, once I found out how to do it. The MPG for me is lower than you are obtaining, but most of my journeys are of very short duration so it is never going to be at it's best. Overall the car is excellent, my wife thinks so too, so much so that she often wants to drive it and I am in the passenger seat. :(
  13. Kalpesh, Silvestor Coachworks, Aldershot Rd, Wood Street Village, Guildford, Surrey GU3 3HF. Phone 01483 237001 do all the Lexus Guildford paint jobs. I have used them twice for minor knocks and they were faultless.
  14. I have wondered about super unleaded, but have net yet tried it. I did read somewhere that it is not needed, so don't bother, but I also read that once every 5-6 fill ups it can be good for the car. I have no idea whether or not either is true.
  15. Not me, I think I would find it too quick, I like a nice sedate drive these days. It's always there to overtake if needed, but to be honest I have not found I have need to go into Sport mode as much as I did in my old CT, which did need the extra responsiveness.
  16. Totally different cars, the Bentley is a 4X4 W12 6.0 litre monster that is only used at weekends or when the weather is nice or if I need to blow away the cobwebs! The NX is going to be my daily car and in it's own way is just as nice to drive. Both cars make me feel special when I drive them which is what it's all about in my book! Totally agree. It should feel special every time you get in the car.
  17. Congrats, great choice of colour, just like mine. Enjoy the car.
  18. On A & B roads, travelling at 30-50 MPH I can get 38-40 MPG, as that is the best possible scenario for the car. On motorways it comes down to 33-35 MPG as once it gets to 70+ it does reduce the mileage a bit. So that does seem about right.
  19. Yes, Fuelly does seem to be accurate. Of course the only problem with them is that some models have different engines, so sometimes you don't get to see a true picture (at first glance) on each engine type unless you use the filter option, which then will give a truer picture.
  20. How much is it? ( I just use the freezable ice packs ... ) £280! plus another £95 for a mains plug for use indoors. So yes, a lot of money. It can keep food warm too, it seems. I have read on other forums that some who have bought similar box's for other cars are happy with them as they are useful as an extra long term cool box when on holiday or camping etc. We often go off on day trips and although normal cool boxes do a fair job, they don't keep things really cold, like drinks etc. my wife is quite keen, but it is silly money really, unless you know you will use it a lot, and it works well. Still thinking about it.
  21. Has anyone bought the Lexus Cool Box? It's not cheap, but keeps food hot or chilled. Is it worth it?
  22. Just checked on Feully and the current average for three cars (that is all that is registered so far) is 37.1, the lowest is mine at 33.5, then one at 36.8 and the highest is 43.1! I think the National, real world, average (not Fuelly) is about 36/37 so it falls in line with what I thought. Interesting to see some recent MPG figures for some other cars I was interested in. BMW X3 31.4 from 30 cars. Honda CRV 32.9 from 119 cars. VW Tiguan 28.8 from 22 cars. Nissan X-Trail 27.6 from 9 cars. Kia Sportage 27.9 from 11 cars Audi Q5 25.5 from 5 cars So, although the diesels probably do well on long journeys, the short journeys are where the MPG is much lower, so their averages are not as high as some would expect. Makes the Lexus NX look quite good. :)
  23. Just done a full tank all in ECO mode, but all very short journeys with the engine hardly warmed up each time, so a worse case scenario for MPG to be honest. I knew I was not going very far for 10 days, so decided to keep in ECO mode and see what I get. The longest journey was about 10 miles, which returned 38 MPG, but the rest were roughly 3-6 miles. The total was 32.4 MPG. so it looks like in ECO I get about an extra 3 MPG, although that is not 100% certain. Overall I know the car can do about 34 MPG in mixed conditions and range and high 30's on longer journeys. Since I have owned the car it is now 33.5. I have always returned less than the national average, due to the distance I travel, so I would think the national average to be about 3 MPG above my figure, so 36+.
