I don't think that nobody has an opinion......It's just one of those things in life, like aliens and conspiricies, you either believe in it or you don't! I'm definitely not a religious person, i tend to go for the scientists, like Darwins theory of evolution. When you look at the facts, there is scientific proof that dinosaurs walked this earth some 65 million years ago, where is the proof of what the bible says, to me , it's all hear say and comes from stories that were generated only a couple of thousand years ago! I think that it's o.k for those that choose to believe, but when you look back through history and present times, 99% of all war is religion based... So i say , leave it to science and KEEP THE PEACE Stew :)

If I were you , I would try another Ls400. Maybe yours is a bit sluggish? I have to say that I have never had a problem with speed in mine, it's plenty quick enough. It's definitely quicker, and quieter than any Senator that i've driven (I've owned 3 of them), although I would agree that the Senator handles a bit better around town. Another member on the site had a similar problem with his LS, saying that it was slow and didn't match the limiter speed stated in the books(top end), but i have taken mine to the top and it got there quickly, once past the 100mph ,it just keeps on going........ Bigger rims make for better handling on the LS, and I am now contemplating stiffer shocks to see if they help. Spend some money on your LS, it's a better option...honestly Good luck Stew :winky:

Ls400 Diff

Cheers for that Colin, I think that i may have a slight leak because last time the car was being serviced at Lexus, the mechanic said the level was low. He offered to change the oil for me but could not remove the drain plug (rusted in). He told me to keep my eye on the level, because ,if the diff went, it would cost me about £3000 to replace it. I must say that i never have seen any patches of oil on my drive but just thought that maybe i should check the level anyway. Stew :) -
Jason Good luck with that one mate, if you get a chance to examine it when it's off the motor, and preferably before you part company with your cash, turn the shaft on the compressor and put your fingers over the outlet hole. You should feel the compression, if not, it 's more than likely siezed Stew :)

Jason The MK1 Ls400 has a Denso10PA20C type compressor, which i think changed on the MK2. I'm not 100% sure whether a later one will fit. Denso make literally hundreds of compressors for Toyota and other japanese makes, so when my compressor went, I was told that there were several models that would work in the Ls, but it wasn't so! As they are an expesive item to buy, even second hand, make sure you get the right one. I was quoted £550 for a new one, but managed to pick a second hand one up for around £200, but do try and make sure that it's not seized if you go down that route. Stew P.S. Try Japparts on 01642672255 they are up north somewhere, i've had a few bits off them , and so far everythings been top dollar! Good luck :)

No , they don't film that series there anymore, but they still do the barge trips from spring to autumn, which might be an idea if we do ever have a Tesco-Lex meet (barge is licenced, trip lasts about two hours). The car park is of a reasonable size, and i think there is a small overflow car park somewhere there as well. Worth thinking about for the warmer weather! Stew :winky:

youre absolutely right! I think i just met that man at my local boot sale, he's just sold me an old "bontempi" organ for a tenner and it don't even work! Now thats got to be illegal Stew :D

Yeah, sounds like a good idea, i might just do that! Stew :winky:

Funny enough, I actually live about 300 yards from Tescos myself! So it looks like there is a few of us around this neck of the woods after all.... If any of you Tesco lot catch sight of an old geezer in a white Ls400 with nice rims, then flash your lights so as i can put the faces to the cars.. Stew

Hi All I live between Heathrow and Northolt airports, and i've got to say, there are literally stacks of Lexus's or Lexi? around...IS's by the score, a few other LS400,s and a good dozen GS's, there are even two Soarers within spitting distance!... So the big question is, WHO ARE YOU ALL? and why do i never seem to see any local owners comments on the forums? I keep flashing my lights at the motors i see, and i reckon they all think i'm mad! Is there any LOC members around here or what? Remember , it's good to talk! Stew

Door Trim
stew posted a topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h Club
Hi All Can anyone give me any advice on removing the door trim from an LS400.....ie where are the screws on the door card, how many? I have a rattling sound that appears to be coming from inside the door itself, and need to remove all the trim to investigate. It only occurs when i'm doing over 50mph, and seems to come from either, the passenger door ,or the foot well? Regards Stew -
Drivers Seat Motors

Dave See my post in the LS400 forum, or on the general forums under inside and out marked....TWISTED SEAT If you need the information on the repair, drop me an e-mail and I can send it to you. Nothing worse than a luxury car with a crap seat... Stew ;) -
Andy Sorry to see that you've given up on the Lex! If you manage to keep that cossie for more than than six months, without the engine blowing up, or some little scrote nicking it for a local cruise, then you'll be a lucky man! With regards to an LS being boring, I tend to disagree ...for one, when I;m doing 150mph in my Lex , i can still have a conversation, and hear the stereo...could you? And if you took that engine out of you car you would be left with just a plain old SIERRA..now that is boring...and without tuning my engine , top end, my car goes just as fast as yours, if not faster. Good luckmate Stew :zee:

When we are grown up, and we make our opinions felt, we expect others to accept them as "our opinions" and not as someone who is desperately trying to remain "so PC". Surely KILROY has the right to express his, or have we all forgotten why so many ethnic groups want to live in our wonderfull country. What ever happened to freedom of speech! When i grew up, we had blackboards at school, and my dad liked black coffee, but your not allowed use those terms these days, just incase someone finds it offensive. when travelling around Europe, i heard many expressions that were far more alarming than the terminology we use in this country. It's a sad thought that, we now seem to abide by everyone elses religious rules and laws, and not the ones that were good enough for Great Britain for all those years that have passed. I am not a racist, and when I travel to other countries, i totally respect their laws, even when i don't like them. Iused to feel sorry for some of the people i have met in those places where their laws seem unbearable, to me that is, and used to enjoy coming home to England to enjoy the freedom! but for how long i wonder? When someone expresses an opinion which ,we don't agree with, can we not just AGREE TO DISAGREE on the subject, rather than all try to become politicians! Stew

Steering Wheel
stew replied to stew's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h Club
Yeah, I've seen the one on the yank site, so it gives me some hope of finding one! It's a shame that you can't move the cruise control system, at least then you could get a wheel from Momo or Motolita etc.... Stew P.S Andy, tou should keep hold of your motor mate, for what you would get for it on E-bay, you tell me, what car do you think you'll get that comes close to an LS? :duh: -
Hi all I am still searching for a wood rimmed steering wheel, for my 92 Mk1 LS. When I first posted this enquiry, someone said, that they beleived the first Mk1's could have this as an option, but only in the States. I have not been able to find any pictures or infomation regarding this, on any of the Lexus web sites I've found. As there are a few more members now, I will ask again, can anyone help me out there? Stew P.S. I have the non-airbagged steering wheel
