  1. I have ruled out the IS-F simply because of the room in the back - and also the boot. I wouldn't say I am tall - 5ft 11 - but my daughter can easily kick the seat from her car seat. She is 3 years old - of average height for age (94cm). She now has a bike which I tried a lexus IS250 with (dealer isn't far from me) and tbh it fit but it was a faf. SO decided the ISF meant its a no. We will be holidaying more in the south of france when she starts school so it looks like a A6 for me next - I do 7k miles a year including France - which at the moment am trying to say to the missus to get the s6 - 4.0 v8 twin turbo with cylinder de activation. Should get similar mpg to the lexus but has tonnes more room. Shame because I love the ISF too - maybe when the kids are in booster seats I will be able to have one!
  2. I used ala for gap insurance - although I only have a lowly vauxhall astra diesel - got cover for £105 for 3 years although it has now expired as I have paid for the car and its only worth about £5k now. You do have the option of extending it if you wish to. I would imagine the wheel ins is worth it with the wheels the Lexus IS has - especially as it will mean lexus will do the repair work, or soemone authroised to do it and the paint match should be spot on ish.
  3. There is no way on gods green earth I would have put the money on the mortgage for 25 years - that's financial suicide! Wanted a mortgage sub account over 5 years at 1.99% - did it for my first car many moons ago (well 11 years ago it was only a Rover 25 at £8k - long story but worked there), when they were giving out mortgages left right and centre.
  4. Sitting having my astra air con regassed and black isf on a 12 plate rumbles in. I don't like putting number plate on forum but is ek12 at start. Makes me want even more although looks like there wouldn't b much room for my little one behind me. It's going to b a long wait until I can get one about Feb next yr. Damn u banks not giving me extra on mortgage to get one!
  5. I was looking at vxr8 and lexus isf altho it's all been put on hold till next year due to remortgage in Feb next yr.
  6. have to say after having the is300h at the weekend - i might as well just get the is200t - although I liked the is300h and it would save me money living in the south east etc I just prefer the back end of the is200t - and probably the noise as well - plus a cheeky remap at some point! Lovely looking car - I do love the blue lexus have. hmm new is200t or 6 year old isf - as much as i love the isf - the is200t really is all i need.
  7. should have a is300h on loan this weekend - first time with a cvt box - i have driven a nissan juke which had a 1.6 and cvt gearbox - didn't like it personally. I am looking at maybe getting one - the buggy fits, child car seat fits, now just have to have a extended test drive. If all fails will have to wait a year and then pick up a IS200t a bit cheaper!
  8. Lovel;y car - had my eye on that one - I really need to take the missus to see a isf and try and convince its a good baby car - although i did show her the interior (being whiteish) she said that wasn't very good. Had my eye on a is since 2008 - still like the shape etc, I think the cars have aged well personally. Maybe thats a good thing I didn't take her to see this one due to the exhaust - I would then have to explain they don't all sound like that etc etc.
  9. Saw my first RC-F in the flesh the other day - in the blue wendle has in his pic. So refreshing to see a car that is different to the usual boring german stuff. I was hoping for the guy to give it a little boot but the joys of being in the south east with so much traffic! Still saving for a IS-F and in typical fashion 3 are up in the colour and spec I want - by the time I have saved there will be none knowing my luck!
  10. Always sad to see a lovely car not given the treatment it is needed - but even so looks 100x better already!
  11. I will be honest £25k is about right as well in the current market. Not that it matters too much now as the price paid won't matter due to the fun you will be having!
  12. Without sounding too cheeky how much did you get off? The car was opriginally up for £25995, then jumped up to £27995 and noticed the other day they had reduced it by £1000 to £26995. I would def get the lexus warranty, although these cars are fairly bullet proof you never know.
  13. Congrats. Can't really go wrong with a example like that with so few miles on the clock.
  14. I am sure the black one was originally up for 25995 I think - the advert went - and they stuck another £1k on it. It came up when there was a blue one for sale (that I missed out on due to not havign time to look). That was at a lexus dealer for £24987 I think it was. 6 months older but less mileage. I think I will be searching a long time for one. I'm surprised the one in Poole I think it was has gone now (or least not on autotrader)
  15. First car was a brand new rover 25 1.4 impression with wood trim. People laughed but 8 years did not cause me much pain, unlike my corsa sri 1.6t remapped to 222 bhp and gearbox went. Got a boring astra diesel at minute but am always on a look out - hoping this year or early next year is the time for me to get a ISF. Need a v8 although merc c63 values are falling a little bit now - the joy of cheap lease deals! Expect the golf r to follow as well. Can see me having the isf for a year at least and then downgrading to a m135i or a 335i, have that for a year and then end up back in a diesel crap box due to the kids!
  16. Lexus ISF at Edgware road has apparantly gone. Although Lexus used car section seems to be down.
  17. If the blue one is around still in two weeks I will probably take a look, but cutting corners on a performance car is not a good sign. However with 14k miles (its done about 2k in the last year I beleive) is also a part worry for me - also makes me cry that a ca like this has been sitting around!
  18. Not a fan of mesa red personally - but if they said I could have it for £22 - £23k would certainly look. Although saying that I have never looked at mesa red in the flesh.
  19. Cheers for all advice comments etc. Annoyingly went to see Financial Advisor yesterday regarding our re mortgage in March 16 and the advice generally was wait till April before buying a v8. Cannot believe even though we only want a mortgage for 56% of the value of our property looks like we will be eating beans on toast till feb just to get a mortgage. Really has put a downer on yesterday but I will have to do the man maths still! Would be nice if the blue one was still at lexus come March but I cannot see it. I am not on a huge wage and being 32 maybe thats whats going against me. Checked insurance quotes last night, astra £310 ISF £444. Not as bad as I thiought at all - VXR8 is more - quote came up at £495 and with a higher excess.
  20. 8 offers so far for the silver one at sheffield according to online. Would take a look but got my sisters wedding this weekend.
  21. I originally signed up here as before my corsa sri 1.6t (remapped to 222 bhjp was fun until gearblx went) I looked at IS250, remembenr seeing a ISF at Twickenham Lexus and that was it. Smitten is probably the best word. The vauxhall VXR8 to me is a bit of a under rated car like the ISF, although my wife has said I shouldn't have another vauxhall - so she would b emore than happy with the Lexus. She who should be obeyed prefers the GS250 - main thing I think is because its newer, smaller engined (in theory better mpg) lower tax etc. With another baby on the way (be our second) she thinks the extra space of the GS will be good. But that v8 itch needs to be scratched, and I cxan't really see v8 prices moving too much with petrol being a bit cheaper now - although knowing my luck petrol will be at £2 a litre and values will plummet 50%! (very unlikely I know). Around town figure doesn't sound too bad - I have had as low as 32 in my diesel before now - my 1.6t corsa use to return 30mpg (book says 35.8) and that was run on vpower which if I got the ISF would try and do again (or at least put normal shell in it) I did say to myself I wouldn't get a new car until I had passed my accountancy exams but being winter I can't see rwd 5.0 v8 flying off the shelves!
  22. Chaps, Always loved lexus cars and have always loved the ISF. Been doing loads of research for about 2 years now, watching prices etc. Does anyone know about the silver ISF in sheffield? SIlver is not my preferred colour but seems a reasonable deal, I like the blue one at Edgware Rd (very low mileage anyone know anything about this one) but think that is out my price range, I only have a lowly astra diesel (which has given me no trouble in 4 years 44k miles). My situation has changed - do about 7k miles a year - originally looked at VXR8 but they seem to be going up in prices - ISF seems to have stayed reasonably the same. I reckon about 20 mpg would roughly be achievable for me (currently 40 in my astra) - main driving during week is 5 miles each way to work (half stop start driving). I was originally looking at GS250 cars - which seem to have plummeted in value recently but need to own a v8 - as I can't see me ever being in a position to own one again. Car would probably only stay with me for a year at least so may even keep the astra.
  23. Hi, I have been looking at Lexus cars at the moment - very nice - but some posters have mentioned about a weekend test drive etc. How did you get one of these. To me this is one of the biggest problems with buying a car - a 20 minute test drive is never enough! I am 28 years old so don't know if my age would be against me or not. My dealer seemed a bit reluctant.
