  1. Oh btw i know i mist a bit, i did the final touch up today and put the decal on :D This is my cat btw. Bonnie the bengal. I am actually looking to re-home her if anyones interested #
  2. haha its not my cat, it always comes and up when im playing with the car, got to keep the doors closed next time mind you!
  3. Ive noticed on my service history it sometimes had 10w40 on some occasions. it wont do any damage if you switch it up, but i stick to 5w30 now. Talking of brand names i also use valvoline syn power and was thinking the same but ive read somewhere recently that with the brand names such as edge or mobil1 you dont get that clattering when the engines cold on a morning
  4. Only got round to painting back calipers in last few days as we've finally had some sun and just wanted to thank everyone for the advice on Kurust for the drum it worked really well and was the finish i was looking for. looks sooo much better compared to other side if you see the pic. All that corrosion makes the car look naff
  5. thanks everyone! Not actually surprised there are ex yank owners on here ;) like i said Lexus is the closest thing that isnt american especially on these shores and i too used to think they were american years ago. Some nice pasts American cars guys very impressed! :p Noby - Yes if you have close family over there you can use them as a sponsor for a visa application like you said. And i like the earlier Vetts, not big on the newer racier looking ones. Do you know much about the original ZR1? its a marval. It did 0-60 in 4.4 seconds and this was in 1991! it was so ahead of its time and also has prototype dynamic suspension on 25 of them. too are into the trucks, i want a Dodge Ram Cummins so badly. a real mans truck (but not for compensating reasons! lol) and so much modding potential. but as for the cars im very much into the big comfy boats and love the older styling and innovations from the 70s and 80s cars. The Muscle cars also, my top on the list a 79 Trans Am, uno the bandit car. but always wanted the 4.9 Turbo engine in the 81 with the little LED boost indication in the hood lol gotta love it. Gonna have to get something fairly newish to start with as owning a Classic is a bit of a commitment. GS430 is very tempting Yeah america so vast it really is all about the straight line performance over there saying that im not far from the famous Sonoma raceway if i did ever get something that went around corners lol Thanks again. Indeed exciting times
  6. Heres some inspiration. i just saw this and thought it was stunning http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJwGD7tzTWQ
  7. I just realised you have a second gen IS! sorry. You might not encounter some of the issues i did then lol
  8. You have to be careful with cheap LEDs. This for example had a good quality Q5 diode up front then cheap junk around the edge that is all blue looking Here http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1-5W-CREE-Q5-CANBUS-T10-501-W5W-5050-SMD-8-LED-Light-Bulb-Wedge-Downlight-White-/281122987735?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item41743c5ed7 This on the other hand is quality product http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/W5W-W16W-501-T10-T15-HIGH-POWER-CREE-R4-LED-25W-/111083603654?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item19dd1946c6 The colour temp is also listed and explained, the diodes are XPG (R4 is a natural tint variance) Q5/XM-L and bin codes listed. this seller knows what hes talking about. Im just worried again that it would be a tight fit on the IS.
  9. I got these bulbs for my sidelights. but a warning to you that the error free chip at the bottom of the bulb prevents it going into the IS200 bulb holder, i had to file down the holder slightly so for that reason i cant recommend them http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/181192008815?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 They were the only 360 angle good quality bulbs i could find that werent projected. I tried the project type but realised the IS200 sidelights are on a funny angle so didnt work very well not to mention they only just fits through the hole and when i pulled it out once it fell inside the light! i was there for half an hour with a magnet and pliers getting it out! As for the HIDs this bulb below is a anti glare type. It used a black paint half way up and around the bulb. However they are bloody expensive for what they are so i made my own Normal Mine Works very well. looks OEM and not scattered
  10. I hate that car with a passion. its just the looks :yack: good car otherwise lol. why cant they give us the US Civic Si
  11. nah Chris is right, if you look after your car it will look after you. the 6 cyl bimmers arent that bad at all, pretty solid all round. http://www.carsurvey.org/reviews/bmw/3_series/2003/single-page/
  12. i bet you could thrash a IS200 all day long and it would be fine lol
  13. If you can afford the garage bills go for it. Im thinking 3 series is a good option from what you said and are cheap for sure. 320, 323, 325. 330's a bit more. If you get a 3 series i bet you'll get bored of it quicker lol
  14. Just wanted to give everyone a update for those who know me. I got a letter from the U.S embassy in London last Friday for an appointment on the 31st. This is the final step to getting my visa to live and work in the U.S and as long as i get the final nod i will have my visa on that date. Very excited but also nervous as well as i got a heads up they are quite brutal at this interview much like US customs if anyones ever experienced that you'll know what i mean! cant see any problems arising though as ive got nothing to hide. Taking the Lex for a final trip to the Yorkshire coast on the 28th of feb for a weeks holiday with my family, sad times for me, im gonna miss the car greatly and the great owners club along side of course (oh and my family lol) but hoping to make the next meet depending when it is, as im aiming to jet off April time. but might arrive in my mums ZR :shutit: (i hate driving it, its built so shoddy) I have looked at another Lexus in the U.S but ill be honest ive always had a love for American cars, used to be very much involved in the AACUK and even run my own U.S car group on FB, so im leaning towards a yank, which are in fact a very similar type of car to a Lexus which is why i like Lexus so much. had my eye on this for a while http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/cto/4278389098.html they can keep the fury steering wheel cover tho :yack: Anyway ill give a update on the 31st incase they tell me to clear off lol
  15. I tried 8000k which were silly, 6000k still too blue and now im on 5000k which are perfect i think and match my CREE LED sidelights. Its white but has just enough of a blue tint to show the car has HIDs and therefore makes it look up market and up to date. funny thing is ive found is some 5000k's are blue'er than others but thats just cheap chinese sellers for you. ide go for 5000k anyway but OEM is 4300k like when you see newer cars such as Audi's, Merc's etc. BTW i use anti glare bulbs
  16. Was having a look and for a average to good IS200 auto with around 100k are going for around the 2k mark. Pretty sure last year you could pick one up for less than that? Do the slight updates in 2001+ make them more desirable? Or are ppl after the cheaper tax band?
  17. Good on ya. If its literally all that needs doing its still a worthy option. I bought mine knowing it would need doing and knocked £150 off. Let us know how it turns out anyway
  18. Help us out. criteria? Petrol/diesel saloons only? Power etc. Audi A4 2.0T? VW Pheoton? You looking for comfort over power?
  19. Was gonna say never heard of a head gasket going on these but then again who know what kind of a life its led. Glad its all sorted anyway
  20. Nice1 Chris exactly my plan when i get to states. Cant beat a car to tinckle with for the weekends :) Shame hes selling tho. Hope it goes to a good home
  21. Uneven braking has to be pretty severe to fail 25% i think so im guessing a siezed caliper. Could of told you which brake tut lol
  22. From what yoyve already checked i dont know what else to sugest tbh. Alot of salt on the roads this time of year that can get stuck somewhere
  23. True. But was thinking it was like saying 4 door supra why else say 4 door. Most 2nd gen GS's had 2JZ. Maybe i was stiring lol
  24. Pretty sure S spec doesnt have amp in glove box?
