  1. What about getting one of those under seat 8"woofers if its just a little extra bass you want
  2. I think the term is to be taken lightly and is just used to represent its bloody fast. (And not my words btw lol) Bit confused about his outputs though. 1000bhp with NOS 950bhp without?
  3. Oh and also couldnt help but notice they were calling it a 4 door 2JZ, so 4 door supra? :shutit:
  4. Dont know if anyone is interested but this is a mad GS300 and thought ide share http://www.youtube.com/watch?annotation_id=annotation_3685891521&feature=iv&src_vid=cmQCclu0zpQ&v=vRKWIpXScPE
  5. Yeah something is fishy about what happened. The IS250 is as you thought a very reliable motor and would like to have said you were very wise switching from the 220d. Very interested to see the outcome but equally sorry to hear your story of course. John at the meet had his turbo blow on his Honda Accord diesel from going into the wrong gear and insurance paid out. is this a option?
  6. Didnt read this comment. your original question makes more sense now. not a bad idea. maybe you try it and let us all know ;)
  7. Well my mechanic said replacing the calipers is not something you do in pairs so I replaced my only seized caliper and everything is fine, other old caliper still holding up touch wood and until it gives up im leaving it, admittidly i was going though a bit of a rough patch my finances at the time, but im glad i didnt because a year later its still fine. My brakes are already loads better from just replacing one caliper too! so if you did all four i reckon it would perform to your expectations. Ide agree with noby, get some nice grooved discs, performance pads and paint the calipers and they will look the biz. The brakes on the IS200 are overkill already imo, not complaining of course, the car is over engineered in many ways but at the end of the day its a small car with a small engine, heck my brakes are bigger on my IS200 than my Dads MG ZT-T which is alot bigger and more powerful
  8. Personally i would just buy another OEM headunit on ebay and get a GROM ipod type device for plugging in the ipod or aux. Some of those cheaper head units only have cheap surface mounted built in amps and are often not enough to drive the speakers. Although being a S spec it wont have the 8 speakers and external amp so i would of thought it would be ok. You could always buy a preamp and see if that helps assuming it has pre out
  9. Yeah were all a good bunch on here. No offence taken! Other owners club not sure i could say the same. Ive never been a fan of diesels but i wouldnt say no to a 6 or 8 cylinder german diesel its the 4 pots that make me quiver. Yeah and the bimmer diesel engines themselves are bulit proof its electronics and other components going on the german marquee its seems. Like any car you look after it it'll look after you.
  10. thats good for the IS200 town. did you note the millage before filling by any chance? i just hit 165 miles to half a tank
  11. hmm dont really see why they would feel the need to exaggerate tbh. the IS300 isnt fast or powerful by american standards (or even my standards) and a 3.0L car is the norm over there.... in fact i heard one american review complaining how slow it is lol which while were on the subject, i dont class it as a fast car at all, and find it funny that ppl do. i guess on UK road where probably 50% of cars have less than 100bhp or around it can be justified but as it stands..... and im sure you'd agree Chris if i recall your car history - youve had some beasts
  12. This is good to know. Ive alwsys had cars less than 10 years old so buying a W reg car i was worried a bit i must say but its been fantastic

    Hello!

Welcome. Love the GS. Yeah doubt you'll have any issues had my 2000 Lexus a year and a half now and its been super reliable
  14. Yeah a manual will be faster plus some is300s over there didnt have half the options such as heated seats and others but saying that cant see it making a huge difference. It does aeem quite low for me i must say cus wont a is200 do about 130?
  15. You can get a update foe the cd rom based system upto 2007 but only from lexus map update website. Quoted me £100 so didnt bother and mine hasnt got me lost so far touch wood. (Mine also 2000) Like you said eurocar parts dont do much for the is200 but try gsf car parts and may sound lame but ebay because alot of part distribution companys use it and is a easy way to search them all. Also google shopping Maybe you should donate the car to the next guy stationed. In the UK in need?
  16. Psi as above but are also stated in your manual. For a basic refurb in a generic silver is about 50 quid a wheel. More if you want a better finish. You would get a discount doing all 4
  17. Oh i know infiniti is now available but didnt think they offered G37. My bad. Yeah way off topic now lol
  18. haha i use that website all the time too lol. good to know how much a journey will cost you btw is 27MPG combined because the G37 can actually achieve upto 36 MPG motorway. dont get mixed up with US MPG figures because their gallons are different volume. I only said because i dont think Infiniti have released MPG figures for the G37 here because i dont think its sold officially is it? anyway here i found this site http://www.unitjuggler.com/convert-fuelconsumption-from-mpg-to-mpgimperial.html
  19. i can have a quick look when im on my computer next. Notsure if the part is only oem or after markets are avail. If oem you'd have to go to a dealer but a car this old i would get on frpm a breaker personally but that just my opinion. So ebay
  20. I must admit its frustrates me that most modern V8s do same mpg as my is200! Such as the new merc S550 even the AMG models are close!Yeah you should easily find something better on fuel with same or better performance noby. Ppl say the is350 wouldnt sell but ide be first on the list if i could afford it in the first place of course lol and could prob only justify it if i paid cash....
  21. Faulty temp sensor or fans not kicking in. Coolant in the engine of course?
  22. Amazed you didnt loose any air. Hopefully just a replacement lower control arm jobby. Shouldnt be a biggie? And you can pick up 17s on ebay cheap with a half decent tyre halfthe time too
  23. The car is deff more suited to the motorway, in fact any 6 cyl and up is really
  24. I never bother to check the mpg. It doesnt have a trip computer so has to be worked out.i think im getting 20-22mpg around town 30-35 motorway. I reckon you could average 28-30 30% town 70% motorway getting easily getting 400 miles out of the 70 litre tank (70 litres right?) Its not economical nope. Like i said the newer and more powerful lexus's will achieve the same if not better mpg such as is250 gs350. I own one for same reason asharb gave although im working up to a bigger cruiser but is closest i can afford at my age
