  1. Ian did this to his previous IS200 S spec. Sure he will be along shortly :)
  2. Noticed the beam was high on mine not long ago, the bulb had just not been clipped in correctly. Glad it sailed though :)
  3. I have always liked them from i kid also. I caught up with a old school buddy not long ago and he wasnt suprised i got one as he remembers i always used to look at them back in 1999, 2000 etc. I wanted one at 23 but couldn't afford the insurance so at 25 i made the plunge, a little bday present to myself lol. funnily enough my previous car needed new tyres all round which and i thought the same thing, either spend £200 on tyres or get a IS200. wasn't a very hard decision for me lol. I was a little worried about MPG but i only do 6k a year so i thought what the heck i can afford it. I have the auto, i get 300 - 325 miles before the light comes on from mostly town driving which is about 22mpg, i can get 450 - 500 on a long run very easily. Basically these cars are best suited to the motorway, A and B roads, not that i care i do mostly town driving in my IS200 auto hence why i have a auto. Not sure why you would think a BMW 320 and 325 would be any better both 6 cylinder engines. maybe 1 or 2 MPG better but probably no different plus less reliable. Anyway based on everyones input on MPG figures im sure you can figure out how much more your fuel bills will be. the tank is 75L btw Anyway welcome to the forum and keep us posted :)
  4. Cold mornings mine is the same initially
  5. Im thinking to stick vvti ovrr the sport emblem on my sport grill as my cars a SE anyway
  6. Yeah i was pleasantly surprised with MPG too when i first got mine
  7. Well if they dont improve diesel reliability theycan forget trying to sell them to americans as manufacturers have been pushing the last few years
  8. They sold a fair few, cant remember the exact figure. I drove a 40 mile round trip and saw one 1999 sport and a 2004 LE or had LE wheels anyway
  9. Good comments guys. I think at the end of the day it boils down to what priorities we have as a individual and we are all different and should be respected both ways. For me the quietness and engine note is a biggie for me and reliability because im careful woth the money ive got as im not exactly swimming in it
  10. http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Bumpy-Rides-Car-Parts
  11. I got a refurb and a year in and its fine. It looked bran new from the box. I couldnt source the pistons anywhere i looked everywhere. but it does make you wonder if companys like above can do it why cant we
  12. Yeah totally with you Phil. forgot to mention how much my mates spent on his 530d in repair costs. turbos, suspension the lot. luckily his friends a mechanic but still parts arent free. All ive done with my IS200 is change the oil. and the way i see it £20 or £30 quid extra a month in fuel costs vs driving a diesel is worth it for that alone
  13. Some good points there. Having a work horse is a good idea. I find it hard to use my car for many practical useage due to the simple fact its not the type of car you sling a pair of muddy boots in! Etc even less so with a LS However seems the government isnt to keen on the idea of owning multiple cars
  14. The handbrake is the drum? The back dust plate behind the rear wheels cant be replaced ive heard. Most ppl just rip them off. Mine werent rusted away but rusty and i used kurust looks like new now
  15. Try gumtree, pistonheads, ebay, autotrader or local paper in Ireland
  16. I pay £33 a month. im happy with that as im only 26
  17. tell a lie dont think this is geniune but has the 3rd brake light. a bloody good copy all the same! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Painted-Process-Trunk-Spoiler-for-Lexus-IS200-IS300-1998-2005/171036502591?rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222002%26algo%3DSIC.FIT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D286%26meid%3D4320015879813981312%26pid%3D100005%26prg%3D1048%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D5%26sd%3D301047637173%26
  18. Sounds great. Havent seen any gold ones pop up for a while, i missed a good opportunity to have one in gold but my wife said no! lol. I know what you mean about waiting for a good one, as they are getting older and older its starting to get hard finding a good one. love to see some actual pics of yours There are many spoilers available on ebay. Finding a genuine one in gold might be hard though. You should be able to tell if its genuine as it will have the 3rd brake light on it and the loom is in every car is there. You could buy one and spray or even buy a whole boot lid with the spoiler if one didnt pop up not sure if dealers still stock them?
  19. Sure its not scraping on the wheel arch? mine does
  20. This listing was ended by the seller because the item is no longer available. Come one who bought it?
  21. I was at my mates the other day who drives a E39 530d chipped and tuned. Its nice ill admit. I was telling him about my car and he just couldnt understand why i would drive a car that gets 22MPG that isnt even that quick and how i could justify spending my money on at the pumps. He said if he took me out in his 530d it would change my mind instantly and still achieve 50mpg. by then i was actually struggling to defend my case of what justifies me having a 2.0L petrol that does poor MPG, or even a petrol in general. but when i was driving home i just think the smoothness, great sound and reliability just does it for me. Even if i was into fast cars ide still get a V8 petrol or bigger 6 cylinder car. I just dont know what it is but diesel just doesnt do it for me, despite the MPG and power. To me a car with a diesel isnt a car i could live with and the fact of the matter is i dont mind spending my money on petrol. I dont drink (much) and dont smoke so petrol it is lol. Am i stupid?
  22. Got a couple of friends whos done them. said it was amazing. one said the only problem is he didnt feel like he could let loose because there is someone in the passenger seat lol Ide take the GTR one if i did it, even if its not the most expensive car its AWD would give you the confidence and its just as quick as any
  23. If you havent ever replaced your rear indicator bulbs and youve had the car many years do it now! I just pulled mine out and half of the orange paint just fell off inside the light cluster and was a nightmare to get out. I think they must of been the original bulbs from 2000! Ive replaced mine for silver tipped now while i was at it
