  1. A drain is like changing your engine oil - you take the plug out and let it out but oil still remains somewhat after it stops draining, moreso with a transmission due to many other moving parts and compartments beyond the pan. This remaining oil will only circulate when your driving and using the tranny. This method is only recommended if your changing the oil regularly AND your using the same oil as over time all the oil is all changed as new mixes with old if that makes sense. In your situation you deffo need a dry fill/full flush which means all the oil is drained out of all areas off the transmission and as you can see this caters for more than double of the total amount compared to a drain. For this i believe you need a special pump and maybe other specialist tools. I never looked into it personally as my oil was only starting to turn bad and was only planning on a drain but i sold the car before i got around to it. but i think its a pretty standard procedure still
  2. Im wondering also if they used bad or just incorrect oil. TBF garages just dont get enough experience working on these motors to realise. Most ****mobiles out there you can just dump anything in. Deffo get it changed asap.
  3. The whole transmission was changed in 2013? dont believe that if the oil is old. It takes years for trany oil to go bad. Use Toyota Type 4 ATF fluid only available at Toyota and Lexus dealers. And i dont even think they sell it in less than 10L anymore either. So may have to be a dealer joby The filter can simply be cleaned out i believe and replaced. There are plenty of threads on this like this discussion i had http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/87767-is200-transmission-fluid-oil/
  4. Do you question having a 2.5 because its to big or too small? Just curious
  5. Also check your handbrake drums inside for broken parts inside
  6. Just saw a bumper sticker on a merc saying lifes to short to drive a lexus which makes no sense to me. So is it not short enough thst its gonna be in the garage 25% of the time and will suck your bank account dry this is A C class i believe and the car isnt even old
  7. Also comes with the navigator pack so built in sat nav ☺️Thanks for the kind welcome from everyone thats deffo a bonus. I liked having it on mine
  8. She moved on to something better. No HR?
  9. Good call getting older one
  10. My wife landed her dream job a month ago yet she quite yesterday bc she was working with a holes. She couldn't stand it. You wouldnt believe some of the **** she had to put up with (or maybe you would?) Its important. Your spending half your life witg these ppl. Not saying quit but just saying its common and would effect anyone's sanity so i hear you. Good luck
  11. Haha thats actually a good idea. Buy this on the cheap and trade. Maybe even swap for a IS300 to the right person. Yeah and those only reason im considering it is bc it does have a good amount of kit for a car of its type. And it reminds me of my is200 with same switch gear etc lol
  12. thanks for the reply noby. It does have VVTLi but i believe its 180bhp? not 100%. but yeah its a fun car for sure. Only thing thats putting me of is its so small and i bike alot. and i thought my IS200 was cramped! lol The pictures were after i spent 4 hours detailing her
  13. Hi everyone. Ive been offered a 2000 Celica GTS for a awesome price from a family friend.its auto with e shift. Im debating whether to get it. Pictures coming
  14. I just bought a nissan and have the same feeling. Im thinking i always will unless i go back the lexus.
  15. I often knocked mine into 3rd for engine brake or going down steep hill even 2nd if very steep. Feel much more in control if im engine braking too. Didnt use it to kick back much for over taking i found ECT PWR button took care of those needs
  16. ha no, its just my CD wallet sitting there. You could sit a child there its so big lol. Can get some better pics if you'd like. No real plans for it except running it into the ground tbh. Aiming for the 500k mark. I was thinking a new motor when it goes but not sure yet. As for the Riv im waiting for a good one to pop up a bit like i did the IS200. so thanks. I will keep you guys updated also for sure! Im already getting to know the crew at rivieraperformance forum hehe
  17. I do!! It's funny isn't it... the GS monsters the IS in many ways, yet it doesn't quite "connect" with me in the way the IS did - something I took for granted in the IS I guess. Anyway, the repair and maintenance bill for both the 745i and IS200 were on the rise. The GS, as you alluded, fitted rather nicely in between those two cars, and so I part-ex'd them both. Still doesn't quite compare to moving from an IS200 to a GMC Seirra though! :P 483k miles is mad! Did it have an engine/transmission rebuild at all? The GMC has its original engine 5.3 Vortec V8 and is on its 2nd tranny. The engine hardly revs tho it hardly even goes over 2000rpm it has so much torque. I was ctuising at 70mph at 1500rpm lol. It runs good still! Its smooth, quiete and idles perfectly. The brakes are bad dangerously bad tho!I know what you mean about the IS. Theres just something about those cars other than there reliability and build qualityetc Suprised you complain about maintenance on the iS tho? I found it cheap abd many after markets available unlike the 7er probably
  18. Also smell it. I shouldnt smell burnt and should be a nice pink or red
  19. Thanks man. So, i just noticed you combined your IS200 and 745 and got a 450h. good call. bet you miss the IS still tho lol
  20. Well just got my licence last week, a bit of long process. The DMV is so unorganised! makes you realise how good the DVLA is tbh. anyway my wife bought a Nissan when we arrived which is alright, kinda meh. Its got a CVT with a 2.0 4 pot 140bhp. Its a nice ride etc but no fun lol. Atm im driving a GMC Seirra 5.3 V8 with 483k miles! its a family members truck he doesnt use. It handles like a boat but its pretty cool. Pictures were after i gave it a quick detail. Im looking around for a good example of a Buick Riviera 8th Gen 2 door coupe right now. Will get pics up when i find one. It was either that or a Lexus SC400 but ive opted for the Riv. They have a 3.8 Supercharged V6 easily capable of 300bhp with a few cheap mods such as better pullys, air intake, engine maping etc. They are easy to work on and parts are cheap. The 1UZ in the SC not so, correct me if im wrong. Some other pics below of a IS300 they looked pretty good and a mk1 Supra. Seen quite a few of these old Supras actually. Never seen one before in the UK. When ever i see a IS300 it makes me miss my IS200. and they look so tiny out here lol. The Dodge Charger SRT8 is my Father in laws. Its awesome. Hes also got a 2007 Porsche 911, AMG E55
  21. Ebay, autotrader, gumtree, pistonheads.
  22. Mine did this. Never did find out what it was. but everything was in good working order. I checked back plate, calipers, pads and looked for debrie and it still did it
  23. Well if your car was actually fitted with the sat nav from factory it would have a remote or control pad next to the handbrake. It would also have a disc drive in the boot on the right of the spare wheel compartment where the maps are read from. If it doesnt have those someone has merly fitted the screen and housing up top. You could deff use the double din slot for a touch screen setup for sure. You'd need to bypass the amp tho, buts thats another subject
