Gord,
You are a superstar :winky: I'll get the parts ordered tomorrow & will PM you to arrange the necessary.
Thanks a lot mate, a beer is due :D
-
I guess your not designated for the big shop at Tesco then!!!
Nice motor mate!
-
You can jetwash your car at tesco and select ionised water at the end and finish off your car - same effect.
-
Cheers guys, as always helpful!
Will I see the water on the road or does it get caught on the cover under the engine?
The water level has been going low lately, topped it up today and will see what happens. This must have only started last couple of weeks as it got serviced at 60k in June!
Gord, I'll PM you when I get round to sorting it - will make it worth your while of course ;-)
Thanks again.

Just searched and found out the pump is £90.
How can I tell if it's leaking - can't see any red water leaks anywhere! I've looked down at the cover under the fans and there's no water - any help much appreciated!
BTW, i'm going on what the dealer told me today - could it be aircon condensation? They did say it was red though!

Just found out my water pump is leaking - Lexus quoted me £380 to supply & fit - any ideas if I can buy it elsewhere & recommended fitters in the North West? Or / is it easy to fit anyway?
Cheers guys!

Johnsons tyres are recommended (the one's selling on ebay).
I bought 2 Dunlop SP9000 from them fitted for £108 each.
I can recommend them and they are trusted.

Options
Ventilated Seats
Touch Screen-Voice Activated Nav
Mark Levinson
Adaptive Cruise Control
Park Assist
Rain sensing Wipers with Headlamp washers
Power rear sunshade
I've just been on an open day with Lexus Liverpool and to be honest I couldn't tell any difference with the Mark Levinson stereo (as heard in LS, GS & SC430) over the standard, but hey that's my opinion, I would imagine the new standard IS will have a fantastic stereo anyway. Park Assist if like the new GS & LS is absolutely fanstastic and a must for anybody willing to spend £24k on a car. If the power rear sunshade is the same as the LS then I think it's a bit 90's and tacky (you remeber those black sunshades that you suckered to your windscreen - well it's the same as that).
Is leather standard???
I asked the guys at Liverpool about IS250 prices and they wouldn't even give me a ball park figure!!!

If it's not too late.........you can probably get it done for £20 at one of your local fridge/freezer refurbisher places. It's only a squirt of CFC into the condenser!
Do they really? Where is the condenser located in the IS - is it behind the glove box or under the engine?
Cheers.....

Don't think Cardiff are on the list - check with Zee007.
I'm sure prolex offer some kind of discount but again don't know exactly.
I'm sure somebody will be on here to offer further advice!
Best bet is phone Cardiff and ask them, if not then what about Bristol? The savings you make can sometimes justify a trip.

Just to add to the mileage saga....I always get about 400 out of a tank but that is from full to empty and I usually fill her up on a 1/4 of a tank. Tried Optimax, made no performance difference at all IMO, the only difference was my bank balance and a psycological feeling of power.....
From full to half a tank always shows approx 200 miles, and that's caining the car sometimes, some town driving and doing speeds on the motorway.
The other point I would like to add is after my 60k service I drove from Chester to Bridgewater and back a couple of days later and that's a 200 mile round journey. I left the tank until the light came on and I'd recorded 460 miles!
This business about 80 miles for £20 is mad! £20 gets me about a 1/3 of a tank which equates to 133 miles, I can prove it no problemo. If your petrol costs £60 for a tank and you get 80 miles for £20 that works out at 240 miles to a tank - must be town driving all the time!
If it's that bad then I'd suggest you check your air filter & plugs.
-
I've had mine for 3 years now, done 60k hasn't missed a beat. The only thing I've had changed were the alloys and they wern't that bad. I've seem some really bad IS alloys in car parks etc.
I wouldn't say it's massively expensive to run, servicing can be but if you join gold you save $$$.
And from the wealth of info on here you can save yourself on the servicing by supplying own oil, plugs etc, changing the filters yerself.
You'll get about 400 miles out of a tank which costs about £50. I've a mate who has a Vectra 1.8 (new shape and it's sooo slow) and his car does the same miles in the tank for the same cash so who's complaining!!!!

Mat, I had a squeeky drivers seat which had the inners replaced under warranty. I think they changed the electric up & down motor as well as it makes a different noise now.
Good luck!
-
Fed up waiting for your pics mate - here's a pic of a real IS200 :P
-
Prolex is your man, I ordered some pads off him reliable as the day.
BTW, if you run your finger along the disc is their a groove on the edge? If not, then it should be ok I rekon!
Is your car still under warranty? How many miles you done as well? I got my front discs replaced under warranty.
I don't think Toyota will do the work as they're not insured to work on Lexus - well that's what my local Toyota dealer told me anyway!
Just noticed your posting time - are you guys nocturnal?
-
Just been talking about this elsewhere on LOC!
I had mine fitted by Geoff who designed the mirror closure, it seemed complicated to me as he had to wire the mirror closure up to the alarm cables stored behind the drivers kick plate. Took him about 1/2 hour to do. NB he didn't do any soldering just used crimping plugs to wire the cables together.
Works great now though - looks well cool when your in a petrol station and you lock your doors ;-)

I think it's a legal requirement to have autolevelling on hids - it will probably fail an mot if you haven't got them!
Best bet is to sell them to an IS300 owner mate! Sounds like way too much hassle - buy PIAA bulbs for your standard lights instead - not as good as HID but better than standard bulbs.
-
Niraj, I've got the mirror closure off the guy who developed it (no longer on here shame). Mine doesn't close the sunroof though, but needless to say I've had it on for 12 months now and no problems at all.
Looked a bit of a b***h to install though.

Just received a card from Lexus Chester selling off an increased range of pre-owned Lexus models available to test drive between Thurs 7/7 and Sat 9/7.
Example - IS200 SE / Y Automatic £9995, Royal Sapphire, leather 83000 miles.
Oh, and every model bought this weekend will come with a choice of £1000 towards deposit or £750 off RRP. Don't know what the difference is though!
Sounds like they're trying to sell off their surplus stock.
Might go down for a nosey....

Hope I get an invite, I bought my car from Liverpool last year.
Even though I get mine serviced in Stockport I got an Xmas card from Liverpool and got a few courtesy calls checking all OK.
I only started getting Lexus mag after I got this car.
Hope I don't get shot for including this but the number to call is 0870 241 4936 and I think it's Lexus GB. Try calling them and see if you can go - if not I'm sure I can add another person to my list if you have problems. Damer PM me if your having problems, I'm going between 3.30pm and 6pm.
The cars that I will be testing are the RX400h, new GS, LS & SC430!

Anybody else going to Knowsley Hall on Thursday 14th July??? Got an invite from Lexus Liverpool and I've only ever been there for 1 service (60k).
I'm off at 3pm with a mate - see you there if your going!
BTW, one gripe - Lexus Chester or Stockport have never invited me to one of these in the past (assuming they've had them) and my car has been in for loads of services with them (granted I didn't buy it off them), but I didn't buy the car from Liverpool either.
So I'm really p****d that the local dealers haven't bothered to invite me - if your reading this Chester / Stockport then shame on you!
Anyway, Another brownie point to Lexus Liverpool!

I gotta admit, a bit chav, but I love Lacoste clothes....why don't we both write to them!!
You never know!
-
Be nice to see it with the tints - how much were they?
-
Google is your friend, no replicas yet but it could be possible! Did you know Roddick signed a $5 million deal with Lacoste for advertising - WOW!
Nonetheless, I noticed his shirt yesterday and thought cool - Lexus and Lacoste - quality! I noticed the other month Lacoste advertised in the Lexus mag as well.

The IS is no different to any rear wheel drive - you just have to learn how to handle the car (not being patronising but I read a lot of bad press about the IS' handling).
I'm running Dunlop SP9000's and have been since I got rid of the OEM potenza's and have never doubted the handling. Admittely it is a bit twitchy on roundabouts in the wet and DSC would probably help a lot but that's only on the IS300.
