  1. For me the unique quality that one gets with Lexus is the way one is treated as a client. When it comes to after sales service all other manufacturers that I have dealt with just dont want to know if there is a problem. As a result car dealers have justifiably earnt themselve a bad reputation. People dont trust them and it has been the same for years, and yet both manufacturers and dealers dont seem bothered. Lexus is the first brand in my experience to be different. Lexus make the customer feel special. They genuinely want to help and for the first time ever I trust the dealer when I take the car in for a service.
  2. BIRMINGHAM CITY - KEEP RIGHT ON TO THE END OF THE ROAD!
  3. The IS200 front tyres are prone to wear on the inside edge. However I had the same problem as Doobs with the Bridgestones originally fitted to my car. I first noticed it at 2K the outside edge showed signs of hard wear, so I had the tracking checked by a Lexus Centre and they confirmed it was OK. I managed to get 15K out of them and at this milage the rears needed replacing as well. I had the tracking checked again at this point and all was still OK. I have fitted Dunlops SP9000 as replacements and have now done 1.5K on these - so far so good no signs of uneven wear. I also noticed the small cracks appearing in the rubber on the Bridgestones.
  4. Hi Aido Sorry to hear of your problems Try http://www.imagecar-care.co.uk/ They come highly recommended. More into cosmetic stuff they major bodywork but if they can't help then they will point you in the right direction. Best of luck Richard
  5. I agree with taking a couple of paracetamols during the period when you are drinking. It works by slowing down the rate at which alchohol is absorbed into the blood. Be careful though, Im not sure how safe this would be if you are on other medication or you like to drink more than the average.
  6. Thanks for all your comments - very helpful and much appreciated.
  7. If only I had a vibrating knob! I supose I should be grateful for what ive got though.
  8. Does any other IS200 Auto owner find that their accelerator pedal vibrates at between 1200 and 2500 revs? I have had my car since last September, and its been back to the dealer numerous times for this problem. The only action the dealer has taken so far is to change the engine/gearbox mountings, and this has made no difference. A person from Lexus GB came to drive the car and he reported that he could not feel any vibration. The dealer does agree that a vibration exists. The dealership have provided me with two IS200 auto's to drive and both did have the same problem but not to the extent of mine. I have now received a letter from the dealer. It simply states that the vibration is a characteristic of all IS200 Auto's and that the matter is now closed. I love the car but cannot live with the vibration. Is it me? Do I have an over sensitive right foot? Am I expecting too much from Lexus? Are they trying to pull the wool over my eyes?

    What Tyre?

From what Maneesh says the wear rate on the Dunlops is 280. Therefore they have a harder compound than the michelins (at 240) and will last longer. Lots of members go for the SP9000's and most seem very happy with them. Executive decision - I'm going to go for the Dunlop SP9000LEXUS. Thanks for all your help everybody.

    What Tyre?

I have done 13K in my IS200 Auto fitted with Bridgstones and I need a full set of new tyres. With my style of driving I normally get 25-30K before having to think of replacements. I have spent many hours looking through all the threads for advice on what is the best to go for. My two criteria are: a) Wear Rate - I want a hard tyre with high wear rate to give a higher milage (the bridgestones are 140). Manufacturers of tyres seem reluctant to quote this figure for some reason. I have looked at manufacturers web sites and have not been able to find this information. B) Tyre noise - As everyone knows this is quite high in the IS especially on the older road surfaces so we have to put up with it, but by choosing a tyre with a low surface noise index it can be greatly reduced. Based on the above what tyre whould you choose? and Do you know its specified wear rate. Thanks.
  13. Arrived late (after lunch) but at least I made it. Great event thanks to Claire and Steve and to anyone else who was involved in the organising. I was welcomed by Claire and allowed to park next to her new GS (very nice). My car is the red IS seen in some of Steve's 'panoramic' shots.
  14. Can anyone let me know where I can obtain a replacement nearside wing mirror for a GS300 1994 Mark 1. Prefer maroon colour if possible.
  15. Have you tried the new (ish) Centre at Sutton Coldfield - Lexus Birmingham (owned by Sytner). Not far from J9 M42, nearer to you than Cov. I bought an IS200 from there in Sept 03 and have had pretty good service. :D
  16. lastminute.com is sometimes good if you fancy a s****y hotel at non-s****y prices, especially if you are booking at the last minute and the hotel has plenty of empty rooms to fill. (other similar sites are also available).
  17. Here in 'sunny Solihull' I did a snow dance in the garden last night. All that effort for less than 1mm.
  18. I am no expert but seen in this weeks Solihull Times Newbridge Motors Hall Green Birmingham - just up the road from L'spa 1993 2.5 - 86K £5,999.00 - advertised as ex doctors car (is that suposed to be good?) They have a web site www.newbridgemotor.co.uk
  19. If you like it hot Check out the deals at Lexus Edinburgh
  20. Lie Back and think of Lexus Discovery of perfection!
  21. I have exactly the same problem on my is200se auto. When i cruise at 2000 revs there is a distict vibration through the accelerator pedal. very annoying. The dealer has loooked at it once but there has been no impovement. It will be due for its 10K service before the end of the month, this time I'll be a bit more insistant about getting it sorted. :D I'll let you know what they find. By the way does anybody know why I havn't been able to view the dealer review pages since October ish time?
