  1. I was recently given an RX450h as a courtesy car when my CT went in for a service and I found the interior materials just as good as my CT, and I fact I was a touch disappointed about the ride quality on the RX and a few rattles from the rear seat surprised me. As others have said, the CT is light years away in build quality compared to the Prius and Auris. A friend of mine works at the Auris factory and visited the Lexus plant in Japan recently and summed up the difference in build quality to me. - with an Auris when the doors are fitted the robots fit the door and then an operator checks it and makes a small adjustment. at Lexus the robot fits the door up, the first operator checks and adjusts it and then a second one checks his/her work and might adjust again.
  2. Mine is still averaging 54mpg over its first 12,000 miles/6 months which compares to my old S60 D5auto which did 42 mpg over the 20,000 miles I had it. I mainly do long distances with very little local work which does push the mpg down. Over Xmas when I was not working, I was getting about 45'mpg, which is still way off yours. I always run it in 'normal' rather than sport and usually keep to about 70-75 on the Mway.
  3. Hi, I have tried without success to download the contacts from two Blackberrys onto my car. I have the full factory Nav system with more screen features for phone than you would see on the radio display in your car, and still I have been unable to do anything. I had partly put down to my phones are company ones which automatically default to password protect due to information on there and given up. I have had to load manual contacts onto the phone screen, but it don't know if you can do that without having the full Nav. option. It's the first car that I have had that I haven't been able to make it work, some colleagues have had a few issues but I have always found a workaround. Interesting to see if anyone does have a solution.
  4. They had these advertised a few months ago, I am sure they were closer to £500. Be nice to see a picture of your car with them fitted once you have sorted.
  5. I don't have any personal knowledge but according to wheelsizecalculator.com it looks like they do, along with quite a few others, although offsets might be an issue -but as you say it's only a spare http://www.wheelsizecalculator.com/resultlist_match?make_id=54&model_id=1516&x=74&y=16 If you click on the calculator tab and then wheel match, put in the other wheels you are looking at and it will also give you the hub size as some wheels on here have different hub sizes so will need spigot rings fitting, but according to the site IS and CT wheels have same size.
  6. The mpg with Eco mode seems very bizarre, mine does about 2-3 mpg better in Eco than normal, and I average around 52mpg this time of year. However, I can solve your DAB issue - this is a copy of a post I did a few months ago- I think I might know the answer. I thought mine only picked up a few, Radio1, BBC Birmingham etc. However, when doing a search using the CH^ buttons, when the radio station comes up, click on the left button Service list and you get a list of several others similar eg on radio one you then get radio2, etc. if when you search it comes up with Classic FM then clicking on the Service List will give you more including your Planet rock. Hope that helps. Let me know if it does not work and I'll try to do something more detailed or talk you through over phone.
  7. Welcome Dave, Saw my first Arctic Pearl in the 'metal' this week and the colour looked brilliant in the bright sunshine. My neighbour who works at Toyota has just has a new Auris Touring in Pearl White and he was really disappointed with the colour not looking in his words anywhere near as good as the Lexus one. I should not worry too much about the aftermarket sensors, the factory ones aren't brilliant - especially the front ones - and I just rely on the Camera. This was one of those things I thought would be a real gimmic - but now hate driving a car without it. How do you get on with the one in the rear view mirror on the Advance, as mine is on the big Sat Nav screen? That servicing deal sounds good - I haven't checked how much Lexus charge but I bet it is not cheap. Mine is due it's first 10,000 in a few weeks - I recon it will need to go in three times a year so glad it's a company car! It was an Advance Model that I fist saw in the showroom when I went to have a look - not knowing much about them at the time I presumed it was the top model - it being so well equipped and the Tan Tahara trim I thought at the time was a premium leather! I was just disappointed that the colour range was limited as I desperately wanted a red one.
  8. The Premier comes with the LED light pack the rest make do with standard Halogen bulbs. There not bad as standard lights go, just could do with a bit more illumination close up when cornering. Not sure how much better the LED's are in this respect.
  9. Welcome Ross, the great thing about these cars is that they are not the same as everything else to drive, makes the daily commute that bit more interesting. I remember the Panda 100hp when they came out and really loved them, I very nearly bought one when my job changed and a 3.0 Lexus with RWD did not mix very well with 30,000 miles a year, but a diesel Beetle piped it to the post. What colour is your car - I love the way the pearl finish in mine catches the sunlight. Watch out though, the paint is mega soft - had mine for 5 months and nearly 10,000 miles and so far not managed to put a swirl mark on it, but only because I have been so careful washing it - snow foam - pressure wash - 2BM wash - pressure wash - rinse with hose - then drying off with plush towel. I have the ivory leather interior and that's stood up well with Dr Leather wipes every couple of weeks. Hope you enjoy your car.
  10. I don't think it's necessarily a characteristic just of the CT, I remember getting our Ford S max stuck on the grass verge next to the pavement outside the in-laws, the traction control just cut the power. When we drove it in the snow it was no better or worse than anything else. What I did last winter was to buy a set of Snow Socks, yes they were a bit fiddly to get on and off, until well practiced, but got me through some horrendous country lanes last winter in my previous Astra. Only issue is that you should not use them when the roads clear, so the 50 miles I did over the Peak District one day last winter to get my wife round her job as a community nurse meant putting them on about half a dozen times -probably amounted to an hour.... But putting into perspective it would have taken me longer than an hour to walk the 50miles which as the only alernative! A freind got her Bmw Stuck in the snow on her gravel drive, it just kept digging a hole in the gravel and despite two pushing and trying to dig out would not shift for a whole week, until I went over with the snow socks. Five mins fitting and it drove straight off. My lease company won't let us fit winter tyres, been at our own expense, so will be relying on the socks again this year if I look like getting stuck.
  11. Hi Martin, Sorry to hear your issues, not going to help you much but just to let you know that mine is fine including Bluetooth never drops out (although mine is the Nav version with DAB as well as FM). The dealer network is usually spot on so hopefully they can help as should be still under warranty? I have tried to look on the Ct200h.com forum, but this seems to be down at the moment. Don't ever remember reading any issues though, other than some loosing phone contacts from time to time. Hope you get it sorted.
  12. Mines had its usual three hour clean to get rid of the 1,000 miles of grime and salt put on this week! So its factory fresh again. Just need to work out the best way out of the village to stop it getting covered in mud.
  13. The Park Button locks the transmission, effectively in neutral. To move off you have to select drive again. If you select Park without activating the manual handbrake and on a slope, the car will rock forwards or back slightly until the transmission locks and stops the car from moving. If you just engage the manual handbrake when in traffic, you will need to select neutral first as the car will still move against the brake - not a good solution! To be honest, unless the wait in traffic is longer than about 3 mins, I just hold the car on the foot brake. If its longer and I am on steep hill then I will select neutral and set the manual brake, if on fairly level road I will just press the park button and let the car settle. It's quicker to set off if Park is activated as you just select Drive, rather than also having to let the handbrake off as well.
  14. Have you adjusted the sensor setting on the control settings screen, I keep mine on the 2nd level and seems to work well enough. I
  15. Whilst I have been trying to be extra careful, the colder weather is having more impact but still getting 55mpg. My tip would be to try and keep the blue background lighting on the instruments on as long as possible, as soon as it goes out you can see that your not being really efficient. Then always try lifting off much earlier than you would normally do when coming up to a junction, traffic light etc, its amazing how far you can go without impacting on anyone following you.
  16. I didnt mean to set down the gauntlet. Our best was set in ideal circumstances which I recognised as such. The heavy lorries in front of me took all the anger out of the " following a blinking hybrid" scenario, we had plenty of time all week, traffic was relatively light in that we caught the magic hour before the school run started and yet the early morning commuters had long gone with the lorries timing their journeys to coincide with their clients factoriy goods received depts opening...between 7.00 and 8.00 in the morning.. Despite managing 71.5 once, I have never been able to best it or even equal it. I think that the closest I came was a 70.and a couple of 69s I wouldnt have thought that it would be possible to get close in the current lower ambient temperatures. It's set me thinking though. At work we are looking for different ways to raise funds for our charity of the year "Alzheimer's Society". As I run a company car I get a mileage rate of 17p a mile, this being the standard rate for a Petrol car. Now that equates to about 38mpg. So I am going to set myself a challenge for November, as I cover about 1200 business miles a month I am going to donate the profit to the charity and our company does matched giving making it even better. So here's the incentive I need to see how well I can do . Might be late for the odd meeting though! Hope the cold weather does not come too soon and drop the mpg. Waiting until November as I might get some of my colleagues involved as well.
  17. Mine runs with air con switched on the whole time. Keep the car in "normal" and try and keep the gauge out of power as much as you can, lift off and coast to a standstill as much as you can before applying the brakes harder - it's amazing how far you can go without upsetting other road users. If you keep the instant fuel consumption on the display, it's surprising how much difference a lighter touch on the throttle makes, as does cruising at 70 rather than 80. More than any other car I have had the more effort you put in the much higher the returns. I used to have a Deisel Astra which did 47 mpg in normal driving and if I drove it like an absolute saint did not go above 52mpg. Many talk about their CT200h doing height 60's, but usually rush hour driving and needing to be somewhere in a reasonable hurry keeps me from joining them, but 'Wass' has set down the gauntlet to see if I can get over 70!
  18. 41! You must be living life to the full! On Friday I had to go to Birmingham and back, about 70 mile round trip and I was tight for time and was in Sport and went as quick as I could without risk of being in serious trouble - nothing overtook me and had the traction control kick in several times, and I still could not get the average for the Journey below 43mpg
  19. I have had mine since July now and done 6,000 miles. I have not reset the Average MPG since getting it and its currently showing 57mpg. With the other readout which shows the Instant MPG bar plus the Average which resets every time you fill up, that has been 48mpg at worst and 61 at best. I have checked these readings about six times now using the actual amount of fuel put in the tank and have found mine to be out by only 2.5 mpg at the most. I guess these can vary, so check yours and then you know how much to adjust the computed version by. I understand though that as temperatures fall, the mpg will start to drop off more than you would see in a normal car, so with our unusual warm spell in the UK about to come to an end, it will be interesting to see what happens through the colder months. It is really addictive though seeing how much you can get to the gallon, never really used to bother in my previous cars, but this makes the journeys that bit more interesting. How much you go up hills will affect the consumption also, I regularly go from Derbyshire up to Leeds and it generally feels like you are climbing on the way up, and I have usually got 50mpg on the display, by the time I have made the journey back its gone up to 58 - seems weirded but I go up every week and its the same!
  20. Steve, I think I am going to bite the bullet and by a set for my wife's car and I can use that if the weather gets really bad. It's infuriating that the lease company won't let us fit winter tyres, a colleague who goes skiing several times a year has to fit snow chains as they would not let him fit winter wheels and tyres (again at his own cost). Daft thing is that if I had chosen a BMW 1 series instead, they have a factory option for a set of winter wheels and tyres - that would have been okay with them!
  21. It will be interesting to hear your experiences with Winter tyres. Here in the UK they are just starting to take off. I would very much like to fit a set to mine, but the lease company won't let me do it, despite me accepting to pick up all the costs. I have a set of Snow socks for when conditions get really bad, and after last winter they were really useful, but a real fiddle to take on and off.
  22. And I thought I was covering a big mileage every week! For the first time this week I have ran completely on Eco and managed to keep the mpg above 60 for the past 500 miles for the first time, normally its around 56 mpg. What I have found strange is it seems to be running less in pure EV mode but spends more time with rhe battery assisting the engine at gentle cruising.
  23. Like others who have posted on here, I have found it irritating that when you set the cruise control, the computer display in the instrument panel goes blank so you can't see your mpg, range readout etc. What I had not realised until today was that if you press the DISP button on the steering wheel the display comes back on - found it by accident when I caught the button today. Now it might just be me that did not realise it, but I thought I would post up anyway.....
  24. Welcome! 200 miles is a long way from the dealer, was the deal so good, or is there nowhere closer? What have you switched from, for me it was a diesel Astra, so was so impressed the first day but I only managed to do 20 miles. Good news is I am just as happy two months and 5,000 miles later as the first day.
  25. Add me onto list, only a few miles down the road, so it would be rude not to......
