  1. This is news to me - how do you get music stored on the hard drive in the first place. I thought you could only play through CD, or the USB socket to a I-pod etc? I have the Navigation option but not the Levinson upgrade - is it just the Premier that has this feature?
  2. Thanks Michael, the 'other half' has two cars herself which I keep in the same condition, so get away with the amount of time it takes up! The plates have been swapped today for personal reg now that he leasing co. have got round to processing the change, and the registered address is the Leasing Co, as you say wise not to display if the car is registered to your home address,
  3. Only four weeks late after taking delivery, got round to taking a few pictures after giving the car a thorough clean and adding some protection for the Autumn/Winter. Started with a glaze to really bring the 'flake' out in the paint - Poorboys Blackhole, topped off with two coats of Collinite 845, should last a good few months. Leather cleaned and protected with "Dr Leather wipes" Still looks factory fresh despite now clocking up 3,000 miles in its first month.
  4. I think you ought to stick with Lexus Dealer, my Mesa Red only cost about £10, I have had mixed results from some of the on line suppliers before.
  5. It does not come in colours, just regular -get some small sponge polish applicators whilst you are at it as well and work it in well. If you don't mind me saying, I would ditch the Chamois, if you have any grit left in the paint then drying with a chamois will leave it no where to go apart from scratching into the paint, where as with a Drying Towel the grit gets caught up into the fibres and away from the paint. Can't see from Halfords website that they have much suitable there, the traders on the Detailing World site are the best source, however I have bought some Car drying towels from Asda a while ago and for £2 -£4 depending if they are on offer they are really pretty good, a couple of them used to dry the car down gives my £20 plush drying towel a run for its money.
  6. Lexus paint is quite soft and its really easy to inflict damage yourself through washing (using a sponge for example rather than a plush wash mitt) or drying the car off (using a leather or blade, as opposed to a quality drying towel). It really depends on how much time you have got, I cover my car in snow foam, then jet wash off, then clean each panel in turn with soapy water using a lambs wool wash mitt, cleaning the wash mit out between panels dipping it in to a second bucket of clear water. I then jet wash off, then with water just running out of the hose without any attachment soak the car so most of the standing water sheets off. I than dry very carefully with a couple of plush microfibre drying towels. I will still expect to have a few marks even with this by the time the car is a year old. Depending on how deep the marks are you might be able to disguise them by hand, rather than a machine polisher which I use, something quite good and easy to get hold of is Autoglyms Silicon Resin Polish. It is a effective 'filler polish' and will help hide them for awhile. if you can feel the scratch if you drag your fingernail accross, then its usuall well beyond fixing by hand. Unfortunately, if the Dimondbrite coating was not put on really carefully, this might have inflicted some of the damage you can see. What I really recommend if you want to have some ideas on what you can do, is to visit the Detailing World Website http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/index.php Warning though, you could turn into a complete OCD freak like me - I did not even want the dealers to prep my car when it arrived, and Lexus have a note on my records already never to touch the car when it goes in - even though the local dealer seems to do a fair job of prepping the cars they have. Shame you live so far away, else I would happily have a look at your car and see what I could do.
  7. Agree with the comments over the reviews, you would never buy one if you relied on them. Unfortunately the reversing bleep can only be changed at the dealers Yes the boot is quite tight, we have three children and they fit in the back okay but when we go away for the weekend we have to take our Ford S Max. Just done another 700 miles this week and the average fuel consumption is now 59mpg on the readout which is about 55mpg in reality. Seeing most of this has been motorway work, quite pleased.
  8. Hi, in answer to your question about key code, you should get a small metal tag on one of the keys. Nothing as far as I know for radio codes etc. You might want the dealer to enable or disable some of the features that you can't do yourself through the Navigation screen, there might be a link to the list somewhere on this site but I can't remember. If you go into the Lexus website and go under MY LEXUS you should be able to access the on line owners manual and one is called Personalisation or individualisation - well something like that. I asked for the constant bleeping you get when selecting reverse to be replaced by one single bleep as it was confusing with parking sensors fitted. Plus on Premier I think you can ask for Global Closing or opening of the windows from the remote control. What colour combination are you getting? - mine is Mesa Red with Ivory Leather and I love it, but not seen another. Just clocked up 1800 miles in mine in two weeks I have had it and still getting to grasp with all the features....
  9. That's awful, still at least it was written off, how much worse would he have felt if it was just badly damaged but they repaired it.
  10. Just been looking at some interior pictures on cars on autotrader and 13 plate ones like mine seem to have fewer buttons. Whats the saying - Less is more? - not in this case!
  11. Do you have a separate screen to display the radio frequencies etc like the non Sat. Nav or is everything displayed just on the Sat Nav ?
  12. Not got that on mine - does yours have SAT NAV ? Never had a car without a TA button and does not even mention how to cancel in the handbook. I know the Sat Nav has traffic warning but not sure yet if that only works whilst you are using route guidance or will work at all times. Guess a bit more weekend reading is in store....
  13. Your welcome -I was thinking it was the signal as a previous pool car I had just before had terrible DAB reception kept cutting out every few mins, just thought the CT was the same until sat in traffic jam fiddling about with the settings and came accross it. guess it might be in the manual somewhere but too many pages to go through. What I could not find an answer for was how o cancel a traffic broadcast that you don't want to listen to. What I have found so far that works is - On RADIO FM pressing the left sterling wheel up down button up once then down once gets you back to your original station On DAB. This wont work, need to press the Radio button on console twice ON CD. press media button on console twice.
  14. I think I might know the answer. I thought mine only picked up a few, Radio1, BBC Birmingham etc. However, when doing a search using the CH^ buttons, when the radio station comes up, click on the left button Service list and you get a list of several others similar eg on radio one you then get radio2, etc. if when you search it comes up with Classic FM then clicking on the Service List will give you more including your Planet rock. Hope that helps.
  15. Thanks guys, don't feel quite as bad now. My wife has just reminded me that we had a courtesy car a few years ago whilst our car was in for repair and we had only done 50 miles in it the time we had it and she had the screen crack and a Smart car we were part exchanging once got cracked on the way to the dealers! Must be on my 10th screen in 30yrs driving so not so bad. At least Lease Co. picks up the bill.
  16. Just four days after taking delivery of my new CT Luxury Nav, past a lorry this morning on the Motorway and it threw a stone up and cracked my windscreen. Really gutted, hope that no damage gets caused by the fitters tomorrow and all the sensors, aerial etc work properly afterwards. Chap at Lease Co. call centre asked me "how many miles has the car done?" When I said 500 he had to ask the question again as he thought he had heard me wrong! Been on the US CT site and new screens seem quite common over there, I know that with a previous Beetle and new Mini that they were plagued with cracked screens due to the upright style of the glass and the fact that it was quite thin. Anyone else had one replaced? BTW, 500 miles in and got 55mpg so far, mainly MWay and dual carriageway, previous Astra Diesel used to av 48mpg, I know I am driving a little more carefully but still quite pleased as engine must be still tight.
  17. Great to hear you are loving yours Barnfather, mine should be along in a couple of weeks, but we are away on holiday, so hopefully get it by first week in August. Went to a local car show at weekend and Lexus had a stand there, just sat in the CT200h and remembered straight away why I chose it - such a comfortable fit.
  18. Did you manage to see or drive an IS300h before you ordered it? I was tempted by one but the only one within my allowance was the SE which comes with 16" wheels, no leather or Nav, and whilst I saw pictures of all the others and they looked fabulous, nobody could show me what an SE looked like, and as the CT looks a bit weedy with 16" thought it would not suit the IS. Plus rear wheel drive would be an issue in the winter, Still bet when I see my first one I might have a few tinges of regret.
  19. I've just ordered a CT Luxury Nav as my company car and I was deciding between this and a BMW116d M Sport auto. I do about 25k pa mostly on the motorway and dual carriageway and was originally swayed by the diesel auto, but seeing as all my driving is in rush hour(s), I spend just as much time crawling along in queues as I do cruising along in the outside lane! So decided the tranquility and economy of the CT in traffic would outweigh the extra 10mpg or so the diesel auto would give on the Mway. Car should arrive by the end of the month when I return from hols ,so will soon find out. Local dealer gave me a car for a couple of hours to try out, without this I think I might have been swayed by all the negative magazine reviews and gone for the BMW. Don't know why they all have a downer on the CT, the ride I found fine and loads better than the pool Ford C Max I have at the moment which is awful, yet all the reviews say its comfortable!
  20. In the brochure I have it says they are 'complementary' which might indicate they were some special offer addition, so possibly yours is an early model - certainly the ones I looked at in the showrooms had them fitted. Looking at ones forsale on Autotrader, quite a few 62 plate ones seem to be without them.
  21. Think only the Luxury and Above get the sunroof option, maybe the F Sport has a darker headlining? Just ordered my CT luxury Nav today, hope its half as good as my last Lexus an IS300, the best car I have ever had, and I must have had nearly 50 by now.
  22. Finally made my mind up and placed order. Having really wanted a metallic red one, I decided to upgrade from the Advance and go to a Luxury with Ivory leather, and then as the Navigation package despite costing £2000, was only another £20pm on lease costs, so that box ticked as well. What amazed me was the overall cost of these cars as a company choice including the BIK tax - the 10% rate makes a huge difference at 40% tax. When running quotes through our supplier, any equivalent Astra,Golf,Focus, A3 etc equipped to same level was moving out at around £60pm more. Now just waiting to see how long the delivery time will be - anyone know on average?
  23. Having whittled down the choice of my next company car to a Lexus CT200h Advance ,Merc B180 or BMW 116d, I have been looking on these pages the last week or so for some background info. To be honest the only thing that was drawing me to the car was the gorgeous Tan Tahara interior and the fact that the co. car tax being so low makes the total costs inc lease £100 pm cheaper. Never having driven a hybrid before I was expecting to be disappointed with the noise when putting your foot down and the dreaded rock hard ride. A test drive was needed. The BM and Merc dealers were less than helpful when they found out that it would be a lease car and I could only ask if it could be sourced locally, not insist on it and suggested I went through the lease co for a test, never mind that they would be getting 100k miles of servicing over next 4yrs. So, off to Lexus Derby where I had already been to sit in the car, thinking more of the same. How different it was, an immediate offer of a car for a couple of hours to take the family out in, brochures, advice, walk round of the features in the other models etc. So, here are my thoughts and views following my first couple of hours with the car. - engine noise at full throttle was really muted, not intrusive at all - performance was fine, pace easily up with my 1.7 CDTI Astra, even when left in Eco mode -ride was firm but not uncomfortable and I took it over some really poor roads, just felt solid, by the end of the test drive I was used to it, and the trip home in our Ford S max seemed worse. - such a relaxing car to drive around in, loved the comfort of the seats and the lovely steering wheel. - rear seat space is on par with an Astra or Golf, but our three girls 10-12 fitted in better than those as there is no transmission tunnel to get in the way of their feet. -boot space is very shallow, will have to get some more luggage for my business trips. -very good standard spec stereo, and Bluetooth pared easily to my Blackberry without resorting to the manual. - parking brake bit awkward, would have thought it would be electric - gear selection is counter intuitive as reverse you push lever forwards, and drive you pull back. -parking sensors you can't hear over the reverse gear bleeping, but at least Advance will come with a camera as well. Got back with the biggest smile on my face, could not believe how much better it was than I imagined and immediately decided to have one. Now just need to make my mind up on the very limited colour choice, as only Met Black or Grey comes with the tan interior. Thanks to Lexus Derby - I know Lexus service is legendary but so far ahead of the opposition.
