  1. I have been to see a garage today who I was taking an A/C compressor to The clutch on the compressor had gone faulty and as a result sometimes it kicks in and sometimes it doesn't I have access to parts catalogues if you pm me your reg number I can try and get a genuine part number It looks like the part number for Shiner's compressor is for LS430 12/2004 onwards, yours may be different
  2. I said Quite clearly in a jokey way as I know no-one who talks like this anymore !! No harm meant at all I had a choice to get a LS430 when I was looking, It had same mileage as my car has and had the premium pack but if any of its special toys were to go wrong I would not be able to afford to fix it I just feel that "in my opinion" the LS400 is more "connected" rather than "unconnected" for example springs and shocks rather than air suspension, cable operated throttle rather than electronic. These are just a few but I could go on I am not saying LS430 isn't a nicer car because I think that it is but in terms of quality I think that when they made the LS400 it was all to do with the car and the people and when they built the LS430 it was more about profit and cost cutting. For example LS400 exhaust is stainless and will never need replacing and on the LS430 the exhaust is mild steel which given time will rust. LS430 is still a nice car but I think it was made on a tighter budget
  3. Flights to Dublin at the moment are £9.99 so strike while the irons hot !!!
  4. Thats a really interesting read Not many MK4 on there at all Good read though I will go over my car with a fine tooth-comb over the weekend and write a list up on my car
  5. Yeah £500 for a kid !!!! I have been driving for 7 years have driven in over half of the European countries and have covered on average 20,000 miles per year (on other insurance policies) but yes not too bad for a child hey !!! Beats driving a corsa of a fiat punto or a renault clio (I have had all of the above) and eventhough they are cheaper to run I would not go back to one unless it was a toss-up between that and the bus !!!
  6. I'm sure they are really nice but again harry, a Lexus Service Manager advised you to keep your money !!! Shows how great these cars really are
  7. I will not reply to your misguided beliefs here as it will go off topic however please see the following link !!! http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/90979-whats-better-ls400-or-ls430/ Remember we are both entitled to our own opinion My LS400 let me down because a hub nut came loose (someone cut the threads down on it) so that is human error If I remember rightly your LS430 let you down due to an electrical drain most likely the passive keyless entry (manufacturing error) Both cars will have faults however I feel mine is less likely to keep letting me down and will last longer However please see the link for my light hearted duel !!!!
  8. Bit of a light hearted discussion however someone seemed to think that it is FACT that the LS430 is a better car so I just wanted to put my side of the argument in a non argumentative way :P My LS400 is brilliant because..........................................: It has TWO HUNDRED AND SIXTY TWO THOUSAND MILES on the clock and it still drives like its brand new !!! My air conditioning blows out of the vents at MINUS 1.5°C The air suspension has never broken down and left me "carless" (because it doesn't have it) The rear fridge hasn't failed and needed capping (because it doesn't have one) I have the 1UZFE engine which does not suffer from Valve Seat Recession on LPG (I believe the 3UZFE does) The battery on my LS400 does not go flat if I leave it for a while (does not have passive keyless entry) My exhaust being FULLY stainless (apart from the Y-piece) is still in perfect condition, I wonder how the economy exhaust is on the LS430 being mild steel ?? The LS400 comes with standard 16" wheels whereas the LS430 comes with 17" meaning more expensive tyres for the LS430 The LS430 has too many toys to go wrong in my opinion Anyway feel free to fight your corner I challenge ye to a duel !!!!
  9. 5 years NCB no accidents no points driving for 7 years 24 years old £500
  10. :P hahahaha I know its because I'm jealous he has a chauffeur car with reclining seats As Rudd said though, brilliant description, thanks very much
  11. Wow Steve you have TV as well ? Have you managed to intercept the signal yet and program in a DVD player ?
  12. Yeah yeahhhhhh I have a MK4 uk built LS400 but saw this pic on the internet and as I like toys I am a bit inquisitive :P
  13. This is a celsior CF package Starting from left to right with the 5 buttons I am guessing VSC, left heated seat, right heated seat What are the other 2 ??
  14. http://megazip(blocked word)/zapchasti-dlya-avtomobilej/toyota/lexus-ls-1921/ucf30-3804/ucf30r-aeagkw-584648#g7336550/vozduhoochistiteli http://megazip(blocked word)/zapchasti-dlya-avtomobilej/toyota/lexus-ls-1921/ucf30-3804/ucf30r-aeagkw-584648#g7336658/front-fender-apron-dash-panel I use toyodiy.com and I am a registered member so I have access to the pictures on the parts catalogue so maybe that was the problem before http://megazip(blocked word) is just as good tbh and its a good link to have
  15. Thats weird because I can see the images Maybe a different link to a different website ?? Hope this is better !!
  16. Yeah you have to have the handbrake engaged the windows up and the car must be locked before it will start and then if someone manages to get into the car without setting the alarm off which disables the engine then the second they put their foot on the brake the engine cuts out and the doors dead lock !!! Well that was the system that I had on my Toyota Sera I was after PKE for my LS400 too which is Passive Keyless Entry basically what the LS430 has
  17. Has anyone been brave enough to fit a remote start to a MK4 LS400 ? I have fitted a few in the past but they have all been to cars with no immobilisers (jap imports) Just thinking for when the summer actually hits I want to make sure that the car is cool inside and the leather seats don't actually burn my arse off !!!
  18. Maybe But we are talking about LS400 and dicodonal is talking about a LS430 Just goes to show that LS400 is better in all respects from the LS430 !!!!
  19. Well mine looks original and its a 1998 plate car so it is now knocking on for 16 years old and its the coldest AC I have ever had or anyone I know has ever seen.
  20. Clearly it CAN be done :P its just at what cost and what are the parts Looks like in the second photo the person has used a dremmel to cut the bumper but I wonder where the part numbers came from for the chrome tips I don't want it to be OTT I think that the second photo is tastefully done
  21. Basically the rear of my LS looks like this: and I want it to look like this: is this an easy job to do It seems that the early MK1 was quite similar and had pipes coming directly out the rear bumper but I own a MK4 and they come out under the rear bumper with a down turn on them
  22. Saw this and thought of my Lexus It may not be the cheapest to run but hey, its got lots of room in the back !!!
