  1. I did read your post. I know that honest mistakes can happen, and that too much can be read into them; I also know that there are scoundrels who will rip you off without scruple. My contribution to this debate was to point out that I have actually met the guy and done business with him, unlike everyone else offering their opinions as to his trustworthiness. I had no problems. Therefore, at the moment, it is more reasonable to assume that it was an honest mistake. Even if it was not, clocking a 15 year old LS400 to 163K from 183K is not exactly the crime of the century. How much difference, realistically, does it make to the value of the car? £50? Yeah in the great scheme of things 20000 miles is not a big deal However if the timing belt was due at 180k and he has just gave it a haircut so an unsuspecting buyer thinks they have a good 18months trouble free driving then that could be drastic You are right about the over all value of a car not altering much but would you seriously pay £2K on a car that needs the best part of £500-£750 on service bits From the add Timing/Cam belt replaced at 123,000 Miles again at Lexus with Invoice, so that's not due for replacement until 223,000 miles. That means that the timing belt will be overdue by 20000 miles and possibly be terminal at 223000 (243000) Nasty salesman
  2. OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
  3. I stick to the inside lane where I can and then overtake if there is someone in my way and then undertake when the road is clear in front of me What is wrong with this ? By the way can you find the EXACT law in the road traffic act to back up your previous point please, I have looked for it but it seems to have been ruled out in 1972 and replaced with "careless driving" which is basically the discression of the officer who accuses you of the offence. Yes I put my foot down in a car that I know can handle them speeds just because I had a BMW on my rear bumper, I had a clear road ahead of me and I was trying to keep a safe distance from my rear bumper to his front bumper because the driver behind clearly wasn't, when I thought the safe distance was achieved I pulled over and slowed back down to a speed where I felt SAFER driving at. I was not scared to be at these speeds I was just scared to take my eyes off of the road. It is a bit different as I don't think anyone is relaxed at them sort of speeds and I wanted to give my driving 100% of my attention. It must of worked because I made it home in 1 piece !!!
  4. That EXACT scenario happened to me by a person in a BMW in Germany on the autobahn I was overtaking a line of lorries at approx 95mph and a BMW came racing up behind me 2 inches off my bumper and flashed me out of the way Now normally I would move but his behaviour matched with my right foot meant I dropped a few gears resulting in him being a small dot in my mirror. I was too scared to look down whilst accelerating but when I started slowing down I took a glimpse at the speedo at 140mph Anyway that is the fastest I have ever driven in a car and I didn't like it I will just stick to 70mph in the inside lane with the cruise control on in future and watch the world go by !!!!
  5. I actually like Brian from confusedDOTcom He saved me £500 so if you feel like running him over then unfortunately I am not with you on that one. This is the FIRST time in 6 years that a comparison site has been able to beat my renewal price
  6. When I said "put them in their place" I meant because he was acting like a door handle (a round one) and revving his car up at the lights This is the only time I feel that someone needs to have their windows blown in by a canal barge. I do not entertain street racing, just a quick blip and then carry on at the speed limit with the cruise control on. Also undertaking is not illegal and such offence doesn't exist as the law is "keep left where possible" IMO if you are undertaken then you were in the wrong as you were not "keeping left" But that is just my opinion and I do not wish to open a can of worms by stating this.
  7. Stumbled across this on t'internet http://lexus.popformance.com/ I wonder if the LS400 uses the same protocols as the Soarer hey Just a thought !!! I can see a custom touch screen coming soon !!!!
  8. Thanks matey I do get a few funny looks but to be honest its so comfy I don't think I would go back to a small car again !!!
  9. So, why do these cars, and drivers, need "putting in their place"? What's the (your) problem with someone overtaking you? When someone sits there at the light reving their car to the redline and looking at me I think they need putting in their place Apart from that I am happy to tootle along in the inside lane at 65mph
  10. Twin turbo charged hey ..................................... Has anyone ever had a MK4 turbo charged ??? If so how much work was involved
  11. I wasn't even in the mood for racing But when someone is clearly trying their luck I just put them back in their place Obviously I'm not stupid enough to go up against a Nissan GTR or an Audi RS6 Now that would be silly
  12. There is just no need for it whatsoever Totally childish !!!!! Honestly though a LS400 has ONE engine and at standard it is 284bhp If anyone has put another engine in it then it will clearly be faster. It is not a Vauxhaul corsa with a v6 under the bonnet (a sleeper) it says EL-ES FOURHUNDRED on the back so I don't see why people would want to be embarrassed and get their own ***** handed to them (in young talk !!!) as it it blatantly obvious that this will happen
  13. I am 24 years old 6 years no claims No speeding tickets in the last 5 years No claims in the last 5 years Admiral were offering a ten month policy and they would give me a full year no claims too !!! So for 10 months £575 Not bad hey Spoke to Brian at Confused.com !!!!!
  14. Do I need to say anymore !!! Again ............ same story, someone tries to get past me and tries his luck at blowing my windows in There is just no need for it, I just put him back in his place and then resumed to more sensible driving !!! Bloody Audi drivers hey So there has been a Mercedes and an Audi ..................... all that is left from the c**k list is BMW I'm so sure that it says in the owners handbook for Audi "Congratulations on buying this car, you may now drive like a prick"
  15. I am after the correct part number for the front camber arm bushes for 97-00 LS400 I have found the part number on Toyodiy to be 48674-50052 but when I have submitted this to Amayama they seem to think it has been superseded to 48674-40051 48674-40051 is actually off a Toyota Century but the suspension setup looks identical Can anyone tell me if the 48674-40051 will fit as I will buy these as they are cheaper and easier to get too !!
  16. Little tip: When you undo the centre nut in the steering wheel put it back on 2 turns so that when you pull the steering wheel and it comes loose it wont hit you in the face !!!
  17. I need a set of these too so if anyone can get them cheap I will be interested in a group buy
  18. Just found out that this is down to a small nylon block/bush. I am going to get a handful machined soon
  19. you will like this if you are talking about british leyland !!!
  20. ATS did mine and it blows out the vents at MINUS 2C YES you read that right !!!
  21. And mine is a 1998 LS400 with 260000 miles on the clock and mine is still working too.
  22. How I would do it would be to cut the live wire and solder in a long length of wire that I could neatly hide behind all of the covers, I would hide a stealth switch inside the centre cubby out of the way so that I could enable the power or disable it whenever I want. So the power would get to it when I am putting it back together so I can move the wheel around to put the cowling back on and then I would flick the switch to disable it once I am happy with the position of the steering wheel
