  1. Good stuff. I appreciate what they are saying about how US cars are built differently, but the core components used are probably similar, or the same? I just wonder if the reason there isn't as much about this in the UK, is down to only having 200 or so IS-F's on the road? The sales in the US must have been a lot higher (they can afford the fuel!)? It also seems to me that IS-F's in the US have clocked up a lot more miles than UK ones, hence they are doing a better job product testing all of the components. Be interesting to see what Lexus GB come up with. I just hope you get it sorted. Not what you want or expect from a £50K+ car. :(
  2. The TSB/TSIB was the second link I posted? I don't see why you can't ask Lexus to give you the TSB/TSIB details? They would certainly have access to them.
  3. No joy I'm afraid! :( Did some internet searching last night, but couldn't find anything! I'd be tempted to ask Lexus to send you a copy. They should have all of the TSB/TSIB's? Does the one I linked not replace the earlier ones??
  4. Both fair points. The main appeal of the Takeda intake is it is actually enclosed in the original airbox position, and shouldn't be any more vulnerable to water ingress than the OEM airbox (of which the Takeda uses a fair amount). As for removing it before going to the dealer, that is one workaround if they did kick up about it I guess! ;) Bit naughty, but I like it! :)
  5. Does look pretty straightforward to fit. :) If you follow the YouTube installation video, I can't see you going wrong mate. Does sound awesome doesn't it! Think the only other one of note is the JoeZ version? I like the fact this one uses a lot of the original system, and is enclosed (guessing heat soak will be a big factor on a 5L V8!). It's at the top of my mods list (just need to get the IS-F to fit it to first!! Lol).
  6. I have a sneaking suspicion it won't include UK import duty and tax. Will be interested to hear what the seller comes back with. ;)
  7. Fair enough. I'd still be tempted to print off the official Lexus bulletin for your Lexus UK dealer to look at. Appreciate what you are saying about it looking more like a US market fault, but you never know. The fact you've gone through the usual suspects without finding any faults, makes me think it's worth at least raising this as a possibility. If they can dismiss it as not relevant, then that's fair enough. Hope you get something sorted though mate. Must be getting pretty soul destroying! :(
  8. Take it you've seen this thread from our brothers over the pond: http://www.lexusforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1531 Have a read through the whole thread. Might be worth printing off the Lexus bulletin and showing it to them?? http://www.lambros.net/LexusTechInfo/2007LS/L-SB-0174-08.pdf May even be able to get the parts they recommend changing done under warranty (if you have one of course)? Hope this helps and you get it sorted soon. Cheers. Pete :)
  9. Best way! ;) I'm in the insurance industry (US property not auto before anyone asks! Lol), so have come to appreciate how important it is to check things properly, and get comments/agreements in writing. Be good to know what they say. Cheers. Pete
  10. Glad to hear you were happy with the first service Stu. :) Even more pleased you saved the car from getting a non-Lexus service done! ;) The dealer was going to get 'a mate' to service it!!! GULP! Tire prices seem very reasonable. I'd be looking for a good tuning shop to change the brakes. It's not rocket science, but you can buy the same parts and have them fitted for probably half the cost from Lexus I reckon. Got a very good tuner in Enfield I use.
  11. Hey Stu. I would always play it safe with things like this and double check with Lexus. I wouldn't expect it to invalidate the warranty, but it's only a phone call or email to make sure. :)
  12. Fair enough. Just seems odd that it's out since the tires were changed?? Unless it's knocked something else out when they did the 4 wheel laser alignment?? Been over any big potholes?? Hope you find the problem fella.
  13. May be a silly question, but are the correct wheels on each corner? Doubt it would cause it to stop running straight, but know from reading posts on here, that each wheel should stay on each corner. Where did you get the tires from? Worth asking them to take another look? If you had another ISF owner nearby, I'd suggest 'borrowing' their wheels & tires to see if that made any difference. Used WIM for our race Supra's. Good guys, who know plenty about setting cars up properly. Hope you get it sorted. Cheers. Pete
  14. Makes sense for the dealerships! Not for us owners (soon to be owners!). Think I'll give Canterbury a go. They've been the most helpful and receptive so far. No saving if it costs the difference or more in extra petrol!! 60K does seem a lot! Lucky it's not that every 10K! Then again, that's probably what it's like with the GTR!!
  15. Best of luck tomorrow Stu. Let us know how you get on. Cheers. Pete
  16. Interesting. I thought that was quite a reasonable quote compared to what I got from the Sidcup dealer! Sidcup quoted me 50K service for £461 incl VAT, parts & labour, and for the 60K, they wanted £948 incl VAT, parts & labour!!! Canterbury quoted as follows (all inc VAT, parts & labour): 40K - £568.32 50K - £339 60K - £878.26 70K - £339 80K - 568.32 90K - £339 So just between the two dealers I made enquiries with, it's £122 cheaper for the 50K service, and £70 cheaper for the 60K service. Sounds like you got some good prices when you did your services. Trouble is it's not worth a day of my wages to get it to somewhere miles away (especially with petrol on top).
  17. Hey Stu, Just so you know, I've emailed back the guy I'm dealing with at Lexus Canterbury, regarding the 30K & 40K mile services being done by Lexus dealers. I've asked him how you, me, or whoever buys that car, would go about getting the Lexus Dealer Network history completed. Hopefully it's just a case of contacting those two dealerships, and asking them to add the services to the database. Pretty poor that approved Lexus dealers haven't kept the records in check on such a high performance car! Will let you know what they come back with. Cheers. Peter
  18. Not sure if it varies by dealership (servicing costs seem to vary!), but Lexus Canterbury offered 1yr extended warranty for £795, or 2yrs for £1,335. Just so you are aware, the current warranty expires next Tuesday (26/11/13). Guessing you would need to move quickly to extend it if it does need to be within the current warranty period? Hope this helps. Peter
  19. It's a warranty plan as opposed to a servicing agreement I would imagine? What that means is the car can still be warranted for failures that don't involve the usual servicing items and consumables, even if it hasn't been serviced by Lexus. Just my take on how to interpret it. Would be useful to know who did the 30K and 40K mile servicing if you don't buy it. Just saves me asking the same things when I am in a position to buy it. Thanks. Peter
  20. See my other post regarding the part Lexus service history that stops in 2010 at Tonbridge Wells. Looks like Lexus did the run-in, 10K and 20K mile servicing. Not sure who the owner(s) got to do the servicing since then? Hopefully the dealer has the paperwork/stamps in the book for you to look at. I know some would be put off by this, but maybe it's a bargaining chip to get it for a good price? I'll probably look at it in a few weeks time if it's not sold before then. Cheers. Peter
  21. Hi Stu, I am also on the lookout for an IS-F, but won't be in a position to do anything for another 3 weeks unfortunately. I have also made a few enquiries about this car, including a check with Lexus on the servicing records. Apparently the last service they have on record was back in 2010, and was the 20K mile service. Guessing the 30K and 40K services have been done by an indy? Be good to know if the current service needed is the 50K (and has been missed by 1K miles already), or if it's the big 60K service? Can't see why it wouldn't be the 50K to be honest. I had a quote for £339 inc VAT, parts & labour for the 50K service by Lexus Canterbury (will be the dealer I use nearest to me). The fact this car doesn't have a full Lexus service history, could be an issue in terms of re-sale/value. I know from reading through threads on here that most owners have taken their cars to Lexus throughout their ownership. Might be an issue worth thinking about? Be good to know how you get on if you don't mind sharing? Thanks. Peter
